This hotel is in a great location. 30 seconds from st marks square. I can not compare it to other hotels in the area because i did not stay in any but they all seemed similar in size. room was a little tight for an american but by italy standards i guess it is the norm. If i was visiting venice i would stay here again. Only like 10/15 minute walk to rialto bridge. Only issue is that venice is an island so be ready to carry your luggage from a taxi boat through busy cramped streets to your hotel. thats why i liked this particular hotel because besides the cramped 30 second walk from hotel to st marks, the rest of the way to the taxi is open space, eventhough there is alot of people taking up that pace

The actual hotel was very nice. The room was pretty large by european standards and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. However, I would strongly discourage anyone from visiting Venice, at least in the summer months. It was incredibly crowded, everything was overpriced, and kind of smelly. My wife and I came to Venice after 4 nights in Rome, and were immediatly regreting our decision. The hotel is nice, but the city it is in is not worth the visit.

Comentado por A, deCheshire, el jul 21, 2009
Went in July. Directions to hotel excellent. I really cant believe how handy it was for St Mark's square etc. But it was down this back street, which once you got there, seemed to be a main footpath through to the 'real' venice. The staff were very friendly & professional. English excellent. A good continental breakfast on a small scale (ie not like a large Hilton or something) but had everything - scrambled egg, breads, cereals, juice, cold meat and cheese - but done in an Italian way. I get the feeling that lots of Americans use it, so it caters for their requirements. Have recommended this hotel to my friends.

It's a little disorienting at first for a first time Venice tourist. In other cities, it's all too easy to hail a cab and have them drop you off at the hotel's front step. In Venice; however, you are responsible for setting your own bearings. We had a map printed off of the hotel's location, but, inevitably we took a few wrong turns. Knowing the hotel was expertly located near St. Mark's we wondered that direction and were relieved, once we got close enough, to see signs for the hotel on several of the streets. The hotel's location is on a side street near St. Marks which allows for easy access to all the main tourist sites with the added bonus of not being overrun with street noises. The staff is phenomenal. The front desk staff speaks fluently in at least four different languages. It was jaw dropping to see hear/see how expertly they communicated with guests from all over the world. I won't think twice about staying here the next time we are in Venice.

Have just returned from our stay in Italy and this Hotel was our last of many on the two week tour. The location is superb. Right beside the Piazza San Marco and witihin a 10 minute walk to the Rialto. Room was small but in keeping with the type of building in Venice. Very comfortable. Staff were eager to please and did not disappoint. No hesitation in recomending this hotel.

The hotel was not directly on the canal, but was very close to St. Marks Piazza. The rooms were actually fairly large by Venice standards, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was typical: rolls, scrambled eggs, toast, three juices, individual pots of coffee and warm milk, cereal, cheese, fruits, etc.

Comentado por David, deLos Angeles, el jun 22, 2009
This hotel is literally 1 min from S Marco's Basilica. After booking it, I started to have second thoughts about being in such a touristic area (noise, traffic, etc.), but, in fact, it's perfectly situated on a sidewalk that is busy but quiet at night. There are good (excellent) restaurants everywhere, and the staff in the hotel are actually exceptional (whether one is talking about the front desk staff, maids or breakfast staff). Agreeably, the hotel could serve to be updated, and the beds are not the best in the world, but then, for the price, they are not bad. I am usually a snob when it comes to nice hotels, but I really liked this place and recommend it very much.

Comentado por D, deLeicester, el jun 14, 2009
We chose Venice as the destination for our honeymoon because it is the most romantic city in the world, and we were not disappointed. It oozes romance with its beautiful buildings, narrow streets, cobbled squares and ornate bridges crossing the many canals that criss-cross the city. The hotel is perfectly situated a hundred yards from St Mark's Square and on the main route from there to the Rialto Bridge. The rooms are magnificent, decorated in such a way as to reflect this beautiful city. The staff were excellent, from the reception staff to the maids and bell boys. They were not just polite but were so friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble. Not speaking Italian was no problem as their English was very good. The breakfast choice was vast and of the highest quality. If one wants to be critical, then it would be the small lift and the difficulty of finding the hotel in such a maze of narrow streets.

We went to Venice for a special birthday treat and were advised by a friend that this hotel was well placed and looked nice. Well, we totally agree! The hotel is literally 5 mins away from St Mark's square so central for all sightseeing and tours etc. The hotel itself was clean and welcoming. The staff were VERY helpful and spoke good English, nothing seemed too much trouble, even giving tips on where to go and how to do it as cheaply as possible, (very important in Vencie). The breakfast was satisfactory if a little limited in choice but you won't go hungry. I suppose the only thing which some people might not like is being so close to St Mark's square you can hear the bells from the clock tower, great alarm clock! We got used to these and actually missed them when we got home. Overall we had no complaints with this hotel and are sure the majority of people would like it. If we can ever afford to go back to Venice we would certainly consider using this hotel again.

sobre value="10""Two words: No AC"
Comentado por Laynis, deMiami, el abr 17, 2009
First I will mention the possitive. The hotel decor is very nice, the hotel workers were very friendly and eager to help. The room was not as big as it seemed in the pictures, but that is expected in Venice, the bathroom was good size and modern. The location was very convenient, very close to Piazza San Marco. I booked one night through hotels.com and got a great deal, however, when I was already in Italy my plans chaged a bit and I had to book an extra night with the hotel directly and the price was not nearly as good. All in all it seems like a great deal, but there is one big complain I have about this hotel. When we arrived in Venice the temperature outside was near 70 degrees, however the hotel refused to turn on the AC. The room was stuffy and warm and their only suggestion was that we open the window if we wanted to get fresh air and that it would be cooler at night. Which it was, but only if you left the windows open, which exposed you to the noise from the street and the bells tolling every hour. Also we were fortunate that we were in the top floor, if we had been even one level lower, privacy would have been a big issue with the windows open too, since the windows of the oposite building were 5 feet away. Literally. The streets of Venice are very narrow. Which is charming as long as you can close the window if you need privacy. Now, I'm not being a pampered american tourist. I have been in Italy before, and stayed in private apartments and farms that do not even have air conditioning, and I have adapted. But those places were much cheaper than this hotel. When I pay for a 4 star hotel the least I expect is comfort and AC in warm weather is a big deal. So to sum it up, I would recommend this hotel, but I would also recommend that you make sure that you are going in a season when they turn on the AC or that it is really cold outside.

The location of the hotel was perfect, however because the air conditioning was not in operation (Italian government does allow A/C until summer months) we had to keep the windows open and the noise from the "street" was constant until late at night. The room was a good size, very clean and the bed comfortable. The front desk was very accomodating, helpful and couteous. The breakfast included with the room was adequate. Would recommend the hotel and stay there again should I return to Venice.

The hotel was perfectly located just off St Mark's Square and not too difficult to find. Serivce was excellent with friendly helpful staff. After a fraught journey desperate for a drink to toast our first night in Venice we had two glasses of wine from the bar at midnight! The room was larger than many I have seen in London and even the presence of scaffolding outside the hotel didn't dim the excitement of being in Venice. We were woken early by the builders but intended to be out and about early anyway. Breakfast was satisfactory - very good scrambelled eggs - and kept us going until lunchtime. All in all can recommend this hotel - would use it again.

Good location for viewing all the sites of Venice but difficult to find the first time. The hotel staff were very welcoming. Everything looked in good condition & clean. Our room (212) was small but we expected that from other reviews. Mini bar, safe, flat screen tv. good heating & clean. The shower room - yes 'shower' no bath was very small. The shower tray was in the corner with a curtain rather than a glass surround. With a redesign & removal of the bidet they could have squeezed a bath in, which would have been a lot better. However there were lots of towels & it was very clean. Buffet breakfast was ok for a 3* hotel with 2 hot choices, juices, ham, cheese, breads etc. Good friendly service. A good start for the day. If you want a bath not just a shower make sure your room has it before you arrive.

Our group of 4 couples rented 4 rooms (3 nights) and all 4 rooms were in very good condition, clean and were of good size. The location is excellent and we didn't have too much trouble finding it. This was our first trip to Venice and we were surprised the hotel was on a "street" that was only about 10 ft. wide so we kept walking up and down a larger street expecting to find it. Also don't expect a view out your window; you could jump into the next door building's windows if they were open. The included breakfast buffet was good, coffee costs extra. All the staff we dealt with were friendly, helpful, and most spoke adequate English. We all thought this hotel was an excellent value and would stay there again.

Hotel staff was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Rooms are very small and in need of updating. While everything appeared clean, the carpet was badly worn and the single bed provided for the third person was extremely uncomfortable -- no support at all in the mattress. There was also an unusual smell in the room -- not sure if it is normal for Venice due to all the canals or something in the air conditioning system. The location is very good if you wish to be near St. Mark's Square. The quality of the room certainly did not warrant the price per night, but I'm sure comparable to other hotels in Venice.

The hotel was clean and newly rennovated. The location was perfect ... within 50m of St. Mark's Square. I took the water bus from the Venice airport and it was only a short walk to/from the hotel. The rooms were small, but that is probably the norm for the location ... and I didn't go to Venice to spend time in a hotel room! This hotel is well located as it is close to 2 possible boat dropoffs, so you do not have to carry your bags too far. The most desired attractions are right there. There is plenty to eat nearby, and the staff can recommend. There is no view, but that's typical for Venice. There was a good internet station for rent downstairs, and rental wireless in the downstairs lounge only. No internet in the room-this should be changed. There was an individual air conditioner and thermostat for my room, and I ws surprised, but it really did not cool. It did not matter for this stay, but it is mandantory in the summer that you have good a/c in your room anywhere in Italy. The staff were perfectly nice, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were spotless. The breakfast was just right, and the staff were happy to make a cappucino any time of the day. You'll want to ride a gondola, and the going price (they are all corporate owned) is 100 euros a half hour. Ask at the hotel about the "evening special" where they put a bunch of people together and take a 6:30PM gondola cruise for 40 euros (for now). Try that or find some other deal for gondolas; don't pay the "street" price. Also, the hotel will offer you a free "back canal" cruise to Murano. This is the glassblowing island, and the trips are funded by the glass factories. You can get the free trips anywhere. I needed an item, so I went. It's really pretty fun. The ride is pretty, and they blow some glass, in case you have never seen it before. The sell is soft, and there is no obligation. This is a very good hotel for Venice, and I would definitely stay there again.

Location was perfect, 50 yards from St. Mark's square, 5 minutes from Rialto Bridge. Only complaint - the room was hot, and we had to keep the windows open to cool it off. The breeze was great, but if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. The bells of St. Mark's go off every hour and the foot traffic outside until midnight can make it a little noisy....
