Novotel Karlsruhe City - Karlsruhe

The hotel is well situated, comfortable, solidly built and the staff are generally friendly. The food (both breaks for meetings and at the restaurant) is delicious. However, I do have three reservations: 1) I flew in early (~8:00 AM) and checked to see if there was any chance of getting in early, They said they did not have a room yet (but I could check my bag). So I wandered around Karlsruhe for a while (go North and it is gorgeous, South and it is a beautiful zoo, West is the Kongress center, only East is an unassuming neighborhood) and came back around 11, still no room. I went and got lunch. Around 1:00 it started to rain so I went back to the hotel. Still no room, but since it was raining I settled into the lobby to work and wait. THen I noticed a string of people checking in. I went over and checked, still no room for me, with my rate the room would be ready at 3:00. Sure enough at 3:00 sharp, I went there and they had the paperwork and keys all ready. Apparently with the Hotels.com rate, check-in is at 3 and at that rate (very good), they will not let you in a minute early. For those who have jet lag it may be worth paying the hotel's rate for the first night and hotels.com thereafter. 2) Like most European hotels they charge an arm and a leg for internet service. The clerk did not mention that you can pay 30 cents per minute for wired, she only mentioned the daily rates of E15.99/day for wireless and E19.99 for wired (there is also free internet in the lobby -- but you have to get in line). The wireless service is a beast. It logs you out if you do not transmit anything for a couple minutes (say you are reading / compoising e-mail) after which you have to logout and re-log-in. For roughly $20/day it ought to be convenient. 3) The food is expensive (E20 for breakfast). It is good (and rich), but I found the bakery across the street a better alternative for breakfast. Like I said in the title: recommended -- with reservations.

They charged 16 Euro's for overnight parking. Breakfast was 38 Euro's for each room.

hotel di recente costruzione, in pieno centro, ad un passo dalla stazione e ai margini di uno splendido parco. ottime camere. Soprattutto ottima base per una visita della città, poco conosciuta ma assolutamente da visitare

Over het algemeen een erg net hotel. Staat van het hotel is zeer goed en de kamers zien er strak en netjes uit. Vrij centraal gelegen in Karlsruhe vlakbij het station. Het ontbijt is erg uitgebreid maar tevens erg duur ( € 19,- ). De verdere service is ook goed. Let verder bij het betalen van het parkeerticket voor de garage op een uitrijtijd van 20 minuten! Dit was tegen ons niet gezegd dus na het betalen hebben we op het gemak de bagage ingeladen. Met als gevolg een verlopen uitrijtijd en het heractiveren van deze kaart wat weer € 1,50 kost.. Dit was het enige minpuntje.

ein wunderschönes Hotel, moern, stilvoll und trotzdem gemütlich. Die Accorgruppe hat die Zeichen der Zeit erkannt und perfekt umgesetzt!

Man kommt im ruhigen Hafen an

Das "NOVOTEL" ist eines der klassisch-anonymen, recht großen Business-Häuser, in denen man den erwarteten Komfort zu den entsprechenden Preisen bekommt. Persönliche Atmosphäre, um z.B. dort Urlaub zu verbringen, gibt es natürlich nicht. Aber wer macht schon in der Innenstadt von KA Urlaub?! Alles ist ohne Tadel, freundlich, höflich, distanziert. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist gepflegt und reichlich, also wahrscheinlich die 18 € wert, wenn man entsprechenden Hunger hat.
