Apex European Hotel - Edimburgo

Clean and comfortable hotel located within easy walking distance of the city centre.

From the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough for us. They were very friendly helpful and informative of where to go and what to do. The rooms were well set out and quiet to say we were near a main road.

The hotel staff were very helpful. However, our overall experience was marred by a grossly over-heated room, with no air conditioning or other adequate means of lowering the temperature. (The temperature seemed to be a particular problem on the 3rd floor.) It was disappointing that unlike other Apex hotels in Edinburgh, the hotel we stayed at on the Haymarket had no spa, (although it is possible to use the spa in other hotels free of charge, albeit not very convenient.) Other little niggles included the fact that the hotel had run out of cafenated coffee sachets for the rooms, the hotel bar environment was very poor and the lift had broken down for the duration of our two day stay in August.). However, once again, the hotel staff were excellent.

I read others reviews of this hotel that said the lift was not working. It was still not working when we stayed there. Room was very hot and no fan was provided to bring the cooler air into the room.

This was a very nice hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The bed was very comfortable and made for a great night's sleep. There was a computer in the lobby with complimentary internet use. The restaurant was a little pricey for what you got. There was no air conditioning but keeping the window open made for a nice breeze. Overall I was very happy with this hotel and would recommend it.

By which I mean the area wasnt the greatest and tram work going outside. BUT inside v. nice and quiet roooms, breakfast v. good, staff friendly. Bit of a walk to the centre, but we dont mind that, not for familiies though.

I wasn't too impressed with the hotel. Apart from the very, very small room (the ensuite bathroom seemed bigger than the room itself), and the lifts being broken for my room on the 4th floor. It did have an ironing board, iron and TV which was useful for me. There are some much nicer hotels a bit further down near Murrayfield which offer better value.

The Apex European is located in easy walking distance to the centre of town and does have a parking lot, that combined with its four star rating is why we selected it. When we arrived, we were greeted about an excellent receptionist, who was cheerful and helpful, which we found true of all of the staff at the hotel. The structure was another matter. The carpets were threadbare, the elevator was out of service, the windows only open less than an inch and there was a heatwave plus no air-conditioning. As well, the bed had springs sticking through the mattress. Although the room was finished nicely, it was an overall uncomfortable experience. They do give you a free rubber duck.

Very convenient hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, which is easily accessed from the airport by a bus shuttle (to the Haymarket Station stop). The rooms are clean and free wireless internet service is provided. Friendly staff.

The only issue we had with the hotel is that the elevator wasn't working and we were on the 4th floor! We were there for 5 days and it never was fixed. Otherwise, it was a good hotel.

I arranged a short break in Edinburgh with my girlfriend and picked the Apex European primarily for it's location near Edinburgh Zoo. What caught my attention was the cheap deal they were offering and quality that comes with it. When we arrived and made it to our room, we were impressed by the thought that went into making the stay as pleasant and welcoming as possible, from the slippers to the little duck in the shower! Overall, the hotel stands up to its "Four star quality service" and the staff ensure that is exactly what you get!

Rooms are ok, bathroom good, breakfast good, diner was ok and service always friendly and helpful. Good for short business stays.

Very convenient position - on the shuttle bus route from the airport. Staff attentive and polite. Room very clean and comfortable. Lovely shower room, comfortable bed, quiet even though room overlooked busy road. Would definitely stay again.

The front desk staff (of which there always seemed to be many) were very friendly and the room was beautiful and clean, though a little small. Also, phone usage was very cheap (even direct dial international). There were some restaurants within walking distance and the Haymarket station was nearby, but you would need to either walk about 25-30 minutes or take a city bus to get to the city center (buses are affordable, though). The main problem we had was the 3 fire alarms in 2 nights, including 2 the last night (one at 3am and one at about 7am)!! This despite the fact they supposedly test the alarm on Friday (the alarms were Fri and Sat night, i.e. early Saturday and Sunday morning).

Chosen initially for it's cheapness but this hotel was lovely. Rooms are clean, bathrooms immaculate with great showers and usual facilities (tea/coffee; hairdryer; iron and ironing board). Not the largest of rooms, but so long as you know the person (and hopefully if you're sharing a room with them you do!) then, not a problem. Breakfast was excellent - £10.00 for full Scottish (plus a access to the continental buffet while you're waiting) and so much easier than finding somewhere outside to go. Staff are very helpful - even allowing us to leave our bags after we had checked out to allow us more shopping time in the city.

We found the room had reasonalbe space and was well equipped. the price for the room was OK for what it was We had a good Dinner at a reasonable price. We found that the price of breakfast was ridiculous, however, with a continental at £9.50 and full at £13.50 this should be reconsidered by you as it will make us doubtful about ever having breakfast there again.

I must say that the European Apex Hotel far succeeded all my expectations. The staff was great, and they did everything for us to feel comfortable and have the best experience in the city. Marta, the front desk operator, dubbed as concierge and managed to find the the Highland Tour we wanted on the date we wanted despite the fact there was a Rugby tournament happening and all tour operators were fully booked. I am not kidding, she manged to do this at 10 pm on a Thursday night. Cudos to Apex for hiring such great staff. The rooms are big and comfortable with a great shower and a hint of luxury, clean luxury. On top of this all, the price was more than just.

Nice room in the hotel - just like the website - with well priced room service. Only issue is it's a 20 minute hike from Princess Street / Royal Mile

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in July. Staff were very friendly and polite. The room was smart, clean (apart from a few stray hairs on the bed) and very comfortable. It had a kettle and selection of hot drinks, a fridge with mineral water and a television and dvd player (apparently you can borrow DVDs from reception). It was admittedly a little on the small side - storage was minimal and the bed, while very wide, was a little short (I'm 6" tall and found I had to untuck the bedclothes and hang my feet over the end). But we slept well and there was little noise (our room was on the first floor at the end of the corridor and situated at the back of the hotel.) The bathroom also was a little on the small side but had everything we needed (the stylish shower was excellent.) Location-wise it is about 10-15 minutes walk from Princes Street and there are plenty of shops nearby. The bus from/to the airport stops just down the road. We didn't use the bar or restaurant at all but we did have a delicious breakfast in bed on our last morning.

We wanted an hotel that would be on the way to the airport and the Apex European was a great choice.

Hotel staff was very accommodating, helpful and professional. Our luggage got lost and the front desk staff volunteered to monitor the efforts to recover it. Cafe & Bar provided good food and service. Rooms were on the small side but very clean and well maintained. Hotel was conveniently located for all the things we wanted to do and within easy walking distance.

This location looks quite far on the map, however it is a short 10 minute walk to the center of Edinburgh. Which allows for a good hotel at lower prices. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The only downside was the noise from the street.

The Apex Euopean Hotel was well worth the reservation made. Had one small issue regarding the room and was both surpised and please that not only did the manager change us another room he also upgraded our room. For this we are very thankful and wish this hotel change the best for future growth.

excellent service!

Prepared for an expensive but average room in a large city, we were very pleased with our accommodations. The room was clean, modern, comfortable and visually appealing. The bed was very comfortable and had a variety of pillows. The bath was modern, and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. Check-in and out were breeze, and every staff member greeted us with a smile and a pleasant "good morning" or "hello." This hotel is obviously set up for business travellers. However, we enjoyed it as tourists. Although not in the center of Edinburgh's main tourist attractions (castle, Royal Mile), we found the 15-minute walk was easy and refreshing. Taxis and buses are readily available.

One telephone did not work, the room was very small, the television/radio did not pick up any radio stations.

betrekkelijk gelegen in het centrum in een rustige buurt. bij het inchecken na enig aandringen de kamer gekregen die wij geboekt hadden ( twin beddden ipv queen size bed) een 3 sterren hotel met een 4 sterren service. free wifi.etc. bus halte voor de deur. kortom goed hotel.

Buona location per visitare il centro da cui dista circa 20 minuti a piedi. Fermata della navetta per l' aeroporto a 100 metri. Buona colazione.

Hôtel avec Parking (très important à Edimbourgh). Très légèrement excentré par rapport au centre ville touristique (15 à 20 minutes à pied). Chambre propre et confortable (belle salle de bain), grand lit, écran plat, WiFi gratuit (+ PC dans le hall d'entrée). Le restaurant attenant propose de bon plats à des prix raisonnables.

Dårlig mulighet for utlufting på rom. Ikke aircondisjon, vinduer kunne åpnes kun 10cm Hyggelig og hjelpsom betjening.

Min kæreste og jeg var på 5 dages byferie i Edinburgh og havde valgt Apex European Hotel på basis af dels prisen, men også de mange gode anbefalinger fra andre gæster. Og vi blev ikke skuffet. Hotellet ser ikke ud af meget udefra og udsigten er desværre ikke noget at skrive hjem om, men servicen på hotellet er fremragende! Værelserne er ok med det der skal være på et hotelværelse og der er intet at komme efter med hensyn til rengøringen - alt er pænt og rent. Vi havde booket værelset med fuld morgenmad og heller ikke her blev vi skuffede. Skøn morgenmad! Der er en god gåtur ind til centrum af byen, men hvis man ikke har mod på det, så går der busser med meget kort interval det meste af døgnet. Alt i alt et anbefalelsesværdigt hotel.

Bra hotell og god value for money. Frokosten var god. Gangavstand til flere severdigheter. Fortiden mye veiarbeid i Edinburgh-ferdig i 2012. Kommer gjerne igjen.

Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Clean, tidy room, although a tad small. Our upgrade consisted of jelly beans and bath robes ;) would definitely recommend the hotel.
