A group of six of us recently went to Edinburgh for a weekend, and genuinely can't wait to go back. From the minute we arrived, we found the staff very helpful and efficient. In particular, the doorman of the hotel who we met on our first night there, was very helpful and entertaining! Would definitely go back to Edinburgh and the Apex International too!

What a great hotel and location. We was in room 5025 our view was of the castle which was amazing. The room was very clean and kept upto. This hotel is great for all ages me and my boyfriend are both in our early 20's. The reception staff are very friendly which is great because other hotels are not welcoming of young couples. Would go again to this hotel any day! Food is also great!

Fantastic location, right in the heart of Edinburgh. The view of the castle at breakfast was spectacular. There was a very noisy wedding going on when we arrived but I was impressed that we could hear none of it from our room. Very comfortable room, nicely appointed, but horrifically HOT.

This hotel is centrally located and in a brilliant location for visiting everything. When we arrived we were upgraded to an executive room which had a terrace with table and chairs along with an amazing view of Edinburgh Castle. The room itself was nicely decorated, clean and modern with a huge bed which was really comfy. Great value and I would defo go back.

Stayed here last week for 5 nights. Great hotel and am returning next month. Room was boiling though, as was the corridor on the 3rd floor. Need to have the window open at all times! Staff are friendly and helpful and place is spotless. Enjoyed the pool also. Would recommend to anybody going to Edinburgh. Just get ready for wafts of heat every time you step out of the elevator...

This was the first time I'd stayed at the Apex International, and followed a new expenses policy at work banning stays in 5 star hotels. There were a few points against Apex, the rooms weren't particularly stylish, and while mine was large, the presence of a second double bed (in a room for one person!) made free space pretty limited. Having said that though, the bed was comfortable, feather pillows were provided without needing to request them (almost unheard of), and the staff were charming. The location on the Grassmarket was central without being noisy - something hotels on the royal mile can't claim - and within a few metres of interesting shops and well priced cafes selling lovely food. It means that instead of being on yet another business trip, staying in yet another anonymous hotel, one can actually see some of Edinburgh even when free time is limited.

The Apex Internationla is simply a fantastic place to stay. The staff were so friendly and efficient and went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable! The rooms were extremely comfortable and despite being located in lively Grassmarket were pleasantly quiet. The breakfast room located on the 5th floor gives stunning views of Edinburgh castle... and the food was extremely tasty! It is the perfect location to view all the main attractions the city has to offer and I will definitely be coming back!

this is a nice hotel, staff on reception were very helpful and I had no major problems execept our bathroom,s plumbing was not up to scratch. However the brill location of this property more than made up for this problem. Breakfast is very good if not a little expensive but staff there go out of their way to accomodate your needs.

I booked this hotel for a girly weekend, i had heard many stags and hens stay here , so was not expecting to much of the hotel - just a bit of craic. The hotel was fantastic, extremely modern, really clean, lovely touches in the room, robes, slippers, pringles, bisuits. I have been to Edinburgh twice now and i would definitely go back to this hotel. The only downfall was the breakfast, we had this 1 morning, but we did book it last minute, the service was appauling and the food was not too good either. otherwise the whole stay was extremely enjoyable!

An excellant Hotel in an excellant location. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the Hotel was modern, clean and well equipment. We will use this hotel. I do however have a couple of gripes. The car oark is inadequate for the size of the hotel. We arrived at 11.30am to find a small rear car park open also to the public. and thus no spaces. We had to park in the Grassmarket at £2 per hour then return 4 hours later to see if there were any spaces. The room was lovely but the pillows are unbelievably soft and the room very warm. The street was noisy but not that bad, but with the other two problems, i didnt get a good sleep. Overall, id recommend this establishment

Stayed for several nights at the Apex International. The room was clean, nice bed linens were changed daily. Families are obviously encouraged, and there was pin-pong and Wii available in a lobby area for kids (heavily used). Breakfast in the fifth floor dining room was good, though there are numerous cafes nearby where breakfast can also be had for a more reasonable price (try Elephant House on George IV bridge, across from the National Library- also the "home" of Harry Potter if you have kids in tow)). Dinner in the restaurant was superb. The location is fantastic, the staff was courteous. The shower in my room could use an updating, and a light in the shower would improve things. Internet service was annoying, since you have to log on to an external service, and it seemed quite unreliable. I was bumped off about every half hour, and it was difficult to connect often. However, if you aren't in Edinburgh to work, you probably don't care.

Modern, good value and great location. Only negatives were the staff struggled at breakfast vs. the no. of people they had to serve. Our bathroom leaked across the floor when showering and there were two exposed nails on the floor. But I would go back, especially for the 5th floor breakfast view of the castle

I stayed in the Apex Hotel in February, the hotel was lovely, the staff were pleasant. My room was cleaned every day, the room itself was warm and nicely decorated. They room service was not expensive, alos you could order a dvd if you liked which I thought was a nice touch. The location was great, there are quite a lot of pubs nearby, yet it wasn't noisy. Within walking distance to castle and all the main attractions. The pool was lovely and clean, everything looked modern and clean, nothing was shabby. I would definitly reccomend staying here.

Comfortable and modern hotel in a great location. However, it's also one of the main hotels in Edinburgh for hen and stag parties, which seem to happen every weekend. We were put into a room right over the restaurant which turns into a 'nightclub' until 1 am. At check in nobody asked us if we were part of the party or not. If I had known, I would have asked for a room on the fourth floor! I did just that by 12.30 when the noise just got too much, both downstairs and in the corridor. Night manager was very apologetic and efficient and moved us instantly. I recommend the hotel fro comfort but be aware of probable noise! Also, the square in front of the hotel is full of pubs which seem to go late into the night, with people spilling out of them at all hours. If you don't mind some screaming and shouting, then it's a perfect place. Fantastic location, good restaurants around, great pubs and a short walk to the Royal Mile.

This hotel is a fantastic choice for a weekend break, its right in the centre of Grassmarket, which is where all the pubs are so its only a walk away. The grassmarket area really comes alive at night and is great fun. Even though the hotel is in the centre of the pubs it was still very quite and sleep was not disturbed! It also has a lovely, although small, swiming pool and gym. But its all you need for a relaxing stay!! And not too expensive either. I thoroughly recomend it, 5 stars!!!

The hotel was fantastically located, tough to find a better location. No need for public transport given location close to castle, royal mile etc. Hotel was very modern and was a great look and seemed to have it all, and room was great size and very clean, but have to say the beds were probably most uncomfortable out there. In a joke from tired travel I fell back onto the bed and was shocked to feel a metal rod strike my back! very little padding as you can tell! And sleeping on them was not much better! Walls were paper thin and could hear outside very easily so not a 'romantic hotel' if thats what you are going for. decent given location and price, but could have been much better...

Plenty of toiletries available in the room. Swimming pool and sauna were great - the pool is stainless steel - it was quite weird to look at it - wasn't sure if there was water in there at all! Friendly staff but the Hotel failed to inform that it holds late wedding receptions and the music continued onto 1am. No availability of alternative rooms. Area for smokers is closed off at 11pm forcing smokers to congregate outside thje main entrance which opens them to drunken revellers in the busy neighbourhood. The bedroom window did not seal properly and therefore there considerable noise from the outside.

Good location within Scotland for tourist destinations, although admittedly a little noisy. It's a difficult decision as to whether to go for the rooms at the back with less noise, or to have one at the front with a view of the castle. If you're looking for a no-frills, good standard and convenient hotel for a reasonable price, then this is the one for you.

While upon arrival, this hotel initially looks like a pretty posh place for the price - once you take a closer look you can see that it really needs some TLC. The restaurant and bar look trendy but decor is cheap. Our room was in desperate need of a good paint job - the walls were badly scarred and scuffed. We were also missing shampoo and lotion. After staying multiple nights in their sister hotel a few doors down (Apex City) we were a little surprised by the lack of attention to detail.
