Ok the location for this Hotel is Fantastic, but other than that I really dont think its worth the money. The rooms are very basic and not very big - I paid for a superior double and to be honest was the size of a travelodge room. I would say this is a great hotel if you want to be central to all the major sights (approx 10-15 min walk max) everywhere.

This hotel is in an excellent location within minutes walk of many of the sights of Rome. It serves a nice breakfast. There is internet access for a fee. My room was small and dark - a little bigger than a walk in closet. Very dismal. Be sure to see a room before you accept it. I arrived late at night and took what I got.

Comentado por Garabed Armen, deMcLean, el ago 24, 2009

We loved the pleasant, thoughtful and efficient service of the hotel staff, be it at the reception desk, the breakfast room (excellent quality!), or the housekeeping services. We found the hotel location to be very convenient (with most ancient sights easily accessible by foot). The convenience of being able to come back to the hotel in between several sightseeing trips in the summer heat was truly a blessing. We also enjoyed the abundant 24-hour air conditioning in the hotel lobby and in our room, the very comfortable mattress, the clean sheets, the top-quality pillows, the reasonably-priced internet.

This is a nice hotel, in a somewhat out-of-the-way location, in that it was somewhat difficult to locate via google maps or mapquest. That being said, it is in fact in walking distance of a lot of popular spots-- we walked to the Trivoli fountain, the Colosseum, and even the Trastevere riverside area for dinner. It's not near a convenient metro spot, but, Rome doesn't exactly have good metro coverage anyway, compared to a lot of other European cities. We were able to get to and fro from the Termini train station by using the bus system, which can be a little crowded when you have your luggage with you. The breakfast buffet was nice, with the usual eggs, meats, pastries, muesli, and some fresh fruits. Coffee was "ok" according to my coffee addict wife. The rooftop terrace was ok-- we did watch the sunset over St. Peter's Basilica, but it had a slightly crowded feel, being right up against several other tall buildings. Hotel staff was polite, if not overly friendly.

Booked this hotel baced on the reviews on this site. The closest correct review is the one titled "Not Impressed" We had 2 rooms , I'm just going to list the problems rather than write about them. Air Con in both rooms only made noise and didn't work. Both rooms had a horrible musty smell The one lift they have is that bad most people use the stairs. Breakfast was that bad, don't waste your time even going to look. we were charge for internet and minibar charges of stuff we didn't have. The smallest shower in the world overflowed after about 2 min of using it. (again this was the same in both rooms) Where once there was a mirror on the bathroom wall there now was just blobs of glue. You only get 1 card key for your room which is needed to get through a door to reception. so you both have to leave the room together or whoever stays has no electricity. Faulty towers could have done better. THIS IS NOT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH TO BE A 2 STAR.

Hotel Cosmopolita benefits from an excellent central location, close to the Forum and Victor Emmanuel Monument. However, the hotel itself was a huge disappointment. Upon checking in, we were left to lug our suitcases up narrow stairs and doorways to the room, with no sign of any porters. The room itself (a superior double) was small and dingy, although clean . The room lacked any charm and gave the impression of somewhere rather oppressive that you'd rather not be. I'd hate to think what the standard rooms were like. Morning breakfast was not great, and included fairly disgusting fruit juice. The hotel claims to be a 4 star ... I would say it fails to manage this. I have to say that the publicity photos on the hotel's website misrepresent the hotel as somewhere rather glamorous and attractive ... it certainly is not.

We travelled in a group of six, arriving approx. 11:30pm, check in was quick and pleasant. The concierge, Max, was helpful and explained our location and places to get food nearby late at night. Our room overlooked the main road (Via 4 Novembre) leading down into Piaza Venezia and although this is a busy street the double glazing ensured that any loud sounds were a very slight murmur - not enough to disturb our rest. The location was PERFECT - within walking distance of all the best of ancient Rome. Very easy to hail a taxi from this location and easy for taxi drivers to locate on our return. I have family coming to visit in September and will be booking rooms at the Cosmopolita for our time in Rome. I highly recommend this hotel.

As this was our first trip to Rome, myself and my wife wanted to make the most of our stay and needed somewhere that was local to everything and provided a clean and comfortable stay. As we had travelled with BA, and they had misplaced our luggage, which we found out later that they put our luggage on the next flight, we were very frustrated with the fact that the hotel manager was not being as proactive as he could have been. After checking in, I must have called several times from my room, to the point I had to go downstairs and complain that my luggage still hadn't arrived at 10pm the day we arrived. Bearing in mind we had checked in around 4pm! Further to a bit of chasing, thankfully our hotel manager managed to get the missing luggage delivered to our room by 11pm. Not the best start! Onto the hotel itself - very clean and excellent breakfast and great service, room was tidy and clean, my only gripe was the noise of the a/c, other than that, we enjoyed our stay there. So local to everything! Trevi fountain was 10 mins walk away, whilst the Spanish steps were around 15 mins, and there were bus stops just moments from our hotel. Excellent location, I would highly recommend this, it is the location that really sold it to me. Overall a magical experience, would go again!!

Comentado por Eric, deFremont, el jul 21, 2009

We stayed there for two nights with our daughter. The room was very clean and quiet (considering its location next to a busy street.) The lobby, elevator, and hallway were all small, but that were understandable because hotels in Europe are much more expensive than the US so you can not expect too much. What really made our stay unpleasant was the attitude of maybe just one or two hotel staff. One was at the counter, he was always un-enthusiastic and even rude (in a polite way.) And the other (could be the same person) was someone answered the phone on our first night there. I called the number for services and asked for two extra blankets. At first he did not understand my request, and then he said: "you feel cold with the air conditioning on? why don't you open the windows?" We simply felt better with the windows closed and A/C on so we wouldn't be bothered by noises and humidity. This kind of service attitude is simply un-thinkable in a supposedly four-star hotel.

Very nice, I enjoyed my stay here very much. While it was an older hotel, everything was very clean and above standard for typical hotels in Rome and throughout Europe. The room was actually quite roomy by European standards and the bed was even comfy. Quite the surprise! The staff was very helpful and considerate. Would recommend and would stay here again. Don't book this one just for the rooftop bar tho.... it was a bit of a letdown since it was not open in June!

As someone who has been to Rome several times I was a little disappointed with this hotel. The desk clerk on duty when I arrived was more than a little arrogant and self-important and immediately tried to "sell" me on a sightseeing tour. I guess I wouldn't have minded so much if he hadn't been so condescending when I refused. How does he know how much experience I have with Rome? Apparently there is some sort of kickback going on here because I was present when other people checked in and saw the same process taking place, although with friendlier staff. In fact, all the other staff people I saw seemed nicer than the one I got, but first impressions are key. The location was GREAT in a way (right near Piazza Venezia, so an easy walk to the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona), but I am more familiar with the subway system there and was a little frustrated that this hotel is NOT that close to a subway stop when you have luggage. After getting a limo ride to the hotel because of this aspect of things, I realized that I was just going to have to get out of my comfort zone and explore the area by bus rather than the Metropolitana. There are several buses that run from just outside the hotel to Termini, the central station in Rome. After I got the hang of it, things were fine. The one thing I liked least about the hotel was the air-conditioning system. If you are sensitive to heat or are a woman going through that special time in life when you get those hot flashes, this hotel can be a bit stressful. The A/C in the first room I was in was so loud that I had to ask them to change my room in order to sleep. They finally changed me to another (smaller) room with what seemed like a quieter A/C unit, but when I tried to make that room cooler it too began to grind and whirr and make too much noise. I found that I had to choose between the comfort of being cool enough and the comfort of having a quiet enough environment in which to sleep. I generally p

Had a great stay at Cosmopolita. A bit hard to find the hotel but once we did, we found it a great location for all the sights and lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. Our room was a nice size with large window and comfortable bed. Bathroom a bit small and some noise from pub across the street with window open. Only complaint would be very unfriendly staff at front desk. No smiles from anyone and never greeted us as we came and went.

The location is far away from the subway, so it is difficult to get around. Bus service is excellent, but riding busses in Rome is not easy. The lack of A/C and the dripping water on my head and the failure to fix it for three days may have shaded my opinion of this place. Plus the room was pretty dirty.

We were very pleased with the hotel and staff . The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bar was very nice and modern and friendly bartendar. The resturant was modern and clean, did not serve dinner. The comp. breakfast had a great selection,we stayed 5 days and did not get tired of it. The coloseum and Form are 10 min walk if that. As most other attraction. We took and open air bus tour one day to the vatican and enjoyed the tour around the city to plan our next days sightseeing. The Trevi fountain is about 15min walk and little futher to the pantheon and spanish steps..Great location you are in if you chose to stay at this hotel. The room was very nice and clean.Nice sized bathroom and the room was big enough for us all,we had a triple.

As so many people have stated, the location is fantastic. You can easily walk to the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona etc. No Metro stops nearby, so buying the Roman Pass just for this, could be a waste of money, but the main public bus stops across the road. Front desk were very helpful. I even returned to the room to find a nice chilled bottle of bubble on my birthday, which no-one had prompted them for. Breakfast more than adequate, with good coffee and breads, as well as some hot items. Breakfast room also a nice setting. Rooms clean and functional, if a little small. But in response to the moaners on here about showers - I'm 6'2" and not exactly slender and I managed fine in the showers. They're not the biggest, but you can cope. My biggest issue was the strength of the external door lock on the room. On our first room I could open the locked door with a firm tap from the heel of my hand. They sent someone to fix it, but when we returned 6 hours later it was no better. In the end we had to change rooms. My advice is to give your rooms a good check once you've closed the door. Also - collect your safe key upon check-in, to save you going downstairs for it later. In summary, location and the room rate sets it apart from some others in it's class or in the area. But what you make up for in location you lose in room space - but it's Rome and you can't see it from your hotel now, can you?!

This was a well placed hotel for seeing ancient Rome. We had a deluxe double room that was large by European standards and nicely accommodated 1 adult and 2 teens. The bathroom overall was a reasonable size, again by European standards, but the shower was really small. The hotel was very clean, good breakfast and also had a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant. Staff was helpful and spoke English. Would stay here again.

Going to Rome? Want to see it all? You have to seriously consider this hotel. The hotel is beautiful. We had a street view room on the third floor and I cannot attest to all of the rooms. There was no bath in our room, but my elderly mother just had knee replacement surgery so I did not request another room. If you like/need a shower entry I know the rooms are available. My favorite feature of the room was the lighting system. You'll see what I mean when you check in. When you are ready to leave, you simply remove your card from the room and a minute later all of the lights go out. Very "green" and I am not a tree hugger. My favorite feature about the hotel was its location. You cannot find a better location to explore Rome. If you want to go to St. Peters, stay near St. Peters. If you want to live in the Borghese, stay in northern Rome. If you want to see all of Rome, this hotel is perfectly located. My mom (with her new knees) had no problems walking from Vatican City. He went to the Trevi Fountain every day after dinner. The Coliseum is a few steps beyond Trajan’s market and column, which are literally a stone’s throw from the hotel. In the morning we would take a cab to the furthest destination and make our way back to the hotel. We never had a taxi fare more than 10euros (we didn’t make it to the Baths of Diocletian, though, which may have been more). Enough said. When I return to Rome, without question, I will stay at the Cosmopolitan. Our room was better than the pictures; in other words, the hotel exceeded my expectations. And the free breakfast was the best we had in Rome, Venice and Paris. Enjoy!!! just as we did.

There seemed to be a problem with the air conditioning, not only in our room, but in parts of the hotel. Despite reporting this and being told that the maintenance individual was on the way, it did not improve. In fact, after we were told that the maintenance individual was on the way we were told (about 3-4 hours later) that he had just finished at another hotel and was on the way. At 10:00 on a Saturday night we werehighly suspicious of this. We had to move to other rooms (two singles) and then on topf of it the next day we had to move back to another room (double).

Hotel was excellent and in a superb central location. Very clean, large rooms with the exception of the bathroom which was rather small. Good selection of breakfast menu. Excellent bar adjacent to the hotel (The Glass), we didn't use the restaurant so can't comment on what that was like. Altogether, a very enjoyable stay and a hotel which I would certainly use again and I would recommend it to anybody

The hotel location was geat. Room was clean, a.c. horrible. Hana told us it was fine, meanwhile a couple we met from Canada on the same fllor, said theirs was too cold and slept with blankets We took a 3-day trip to Germany and when we came back they moved us to a room with a larger bathroom with an actual tub but the a.c. was still bad. Hana, pronounced Hani was the desk mgr when we arrived. Not friendly at all, short 2-3 word answers (he spoke fluent english) and when we told him we didn't want the tour he recommended he ripped it up in our face and muddled something in italian. The first wake-up call that we asked him for came an hour late and the second one never came at all.We missed out trip to the Vatican, the most important part of our trip and it was the last day of the trip as well. Max the night desk person was wonderful. He took the time to answer all our questions, gave us dinner suggestions, drew us maps etc. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere except to Vatican City.

Reading all of the comments regarding European room size, I figured this was going to be a pretty cramped place. Oh no... OK, the shower is smaller, but I had no problem with it. I walked in the room to see a sunken bedroom area to my left and bathroom area to my left, high ceiling and obvious separation of the room as a whole. VERY nice... And, it's close to all of the ancient Roman ruins. AND, its right on the bus line to Vatican City (maybe 10-15 minutes ride) - just take bus 40.

Great, central hotel with comfy room and no traffic noise as it is on a side street. Room very clean and continental breakfast very good. Hard to get a smile out of the man behind the front desk but hard to fault the service. Nearly all the major tourist attractions are less than 15 minutes walk away so no public transport required there.

I recently visited Rome and stayed at the Hotel Cosmopolita. Great location--walking distance to everything! Hotel was very clean, safe, very nice roof top garden, great breakfast included in the price, and hotel staff spoke perfect English. Although my room size was very small, I had an awesome view of the forum and colliseum from my window. My only complaint--which is minor--is that the front desk staff weren't friendly. Yes they did a satisfactory job of checking me in and out efficiently, giving restaurant recommendations, etc but always with a very serious look and demeanor as though I was bothering them. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was centrally located in Rome right near Piazza Venezia and the Vittoriano. It was walking distance from every major attraction. There was a bus stop right on the corner where many of the regular city buses stopped in the case you did not want to walk. The room was clean and the bathroom/shower were large compared to other hotels I've visited in Europe. There was a tv in the room, and you could purchase internet time to be used in the lobby of the hotel. The staff was friendly, but some of the front desk staff only spoke Italian, so we were not always able to get clear answers to questions. If we needed extra towels or anything for the room, someone brought it to us almost immediately. We were a little disappointed oon our last day - we did not get our wakeup call, and we were headed to the airport for our flight back home! Overall though, we were very satisfied with this hotel.

Hi, just got back from a weekend in Rome. We stayed at the Cosmopolita Hotel, which was really well located but didnt live up to expectations. We got upgraded to a junior suite which was a lovely size but not very modern and are view was of an internal courtyard, this translates to an oversized airshaft with rubbish bags at the bottom of it. We did ask to move to a room with a better view but that room was TINY and without a bath, so we stayed put. The hotel staff where friendly and the bar and the restuarant was modern but very expensive (as is the rest of Rome). So basically I would reccomend the hotel for its location but it is not 4*, so dont go expecting a modern hotel as the 2 rooms I saw were a little tired.

We stayed at this cute little hotel at the early part of March, 2009. It is very conveninetly located at the center of the city, nearby Piazza Venezia. You can walk anywhere from this hotel. The staff members are very nice and helpful. They speak good English, too. Breakfast buffet was Ok even if they offer you almost same menue everyday. The room was a bit small but acceptable compared to other major European cities. They have a nice, cute and beautiful roof garden as well! I strongly recommend this hotel. Defintely I'll go back to this hotel again!

With a location like this, you can get to see all the major sites in rome within 2 days. we never needed to take the metro or use the public transport. The vatican & sistine chapel were the furthest sites away, but we got there in 20 minutes walking casually. The hotel facilitated us with an early checkin which was great as we had a very early flight into rome. however - even though they say you will get a 'king size double bed', we got 2 single beds pushed together. After complaining to the reception about this, i was informed all rooms were like this, so be warned. Rooms were quite stuffy and again we were wrongly informed air conditioning was provided. after i realised ours was not working, another complaint to the reception informed me that the units only provide 'hot air'. The plumbing from the showers and toilets go through the walls but are very very loud, i requested a room change assuming this was only happening in my room, but reception staff informed me all rooms are like this. Breakfast was fine, all you can eat european buffet. Overall a nice hotel, friendly staff and amazing location, but i would class this as a 3 star hotel at most.

Just looking at the hotel, everything seems ideal. The room was comfortable (with the exception of the shower; my boyfriend wasn't able to turn around in it). The location was great, and everything looked very nice. However, every time we were at the front desk the staff was rude and gave us an attitude that seemed like they thought they were above helping us. Also, I was woken up in the middle of the night by a neighboring guest's TV. And one evening there was an alarm going off on the 4th floor and no one knew what it was. When I finally got through to the front desk, they told me very rudely that it was a fire alarm going off by mistake and not to worry about it. Needless to say, the walls did not keep noises out very well! When we were staying here, there was a wine tasting in the upstairs restaurant. I would highly recommend this! For a set price, there were 17 different wines that you could as much or as little as you wanted. They were set up on tables with food that went well with each wine, and the experience was a highlight of my trip. The restaurant staff was fantastic and helpful, and I wish the people at the front desk would learn some customer service from them.

The hotel was very nice, a great deal for the money. The staff was quite helpful. The breakfast spread never changed, and was perhaps at the midrange of 4* quality. You couldn't ask for a more convenient location, near everything and lots of public transport. But don't stay there on a Friday or Saturday night. The hotel is next to a very popular nightclub, and if your room is near the south end of the building, your room will be pounding with the beat until 2 or 3 am, and you will hear every word the DJ says.

The hotel was right in the middle of everything, perfect walking distance to all the major sites (except the Vatican where you need to take a bus for 10 minutes). The hotel must have read the comments before where guests complained about the cleanliness of the room because our room was spotless. The size of the room was standard for Italy, but it was fine for us as we only stayed 2 nights and were in the room to just sleep anyway. The bathroom was very nice and comfortable. I would suggest the hotel put up pictures of the bathroom because that's very important to some guests and if it wasn't for one of the reviews I read where they talked about the bathroom, I probably wouldn't have booked it. They have a very nice bathroom and should show it. The service was very good, the front desk helped us with suggestions and planning our trip to the Vatican. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again.

Having read quite a number of reviews of the hotel before travelling, we weren't sure quite what to expect. Having stayed there ourselves we can wholeheartedly recommend it. We stayed in a triple room which was very smartly decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was slightly on the small side (not having a bathtub) but was quite adequate for a short stay. All the public areas of the hotel are immaculately kept, and marble and wooden flooring abound. The breakfast was excellent, with the full range of choices, both continental, and a 'full English' choice too! On arrival, we left our cases with Reception, and went exploring. Delighted to find just how centrally located the hotel is! A short walk away is the Colosseum, our first port of call, which was amazing and then on to the Trevi fountain and Pantheon, which were also very close by. Both are beautifully lit in the evening, and the Trevi especially is completely magical at night! Everyone we met was so friendly and hospitable. The Vatican is a 35 minute walk away and this is really the best way to appreciate just what a beautiful city Rome is. Went to mass in St Peter's. The only bad experience of our whole stay was the interminable time it took to make our way through the maze of corridors to reach the Sistine Chapel. We would definitely recommend the Cosmopolita to anyone who is visiting Rome and wants a very competitively priced and very pleasant, centrally-located hotel to stay in. We hope to return soon!

This hotel is in perfect location, it's just 100 metres from Piazza Venezia, and it's 50 metres away from bus stop where you can take a bus to all the tourist attractions including Vatican and Termini. 10 mins of nice walk to Colleseum. We had a 3 course dinner at the restaurant, and that's the worst dinner i've ever had in europe. Bad cod fish (not sure if it's real cod), worst Tiramisu ever, it looks like normal sponge cake with ordinary cream. The room is clean, however the shower area is stuck and the water can't flow out. You will always shower in the flood. I read this in the review earlier, and i still experience it. Generally, the hotel service is good. It could be better if the front desk can be a bit more cheerful.

The only downside was that the room was rather small, the bed was hard, and the shower was really small. We stayed for two nights in Rome, walked to the Forum, the Coliseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc. Took a tour bus to the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's.
