The "W" is a fun hotel to stay in for as long as you are there to party. It was kid-friendly enough for my 2-year-old, but you can definitely hear people partying from time to time in the middle of the night! Our room was great and spacious enough for the 3 of us. Service at the lobby was great from the receptionist to the server being prompt with the drinks!

The apps and cocktails at the Beach were excellent. Rooftop bar with a sand floor, recommend wearing shoes you can kick-off! Amenities were very nice and the decor was beautiful. Staff was professional and extremely attentive.

I really loved this hotel. It was a little pricey and nothing is included (i.e. internet access, parking)but I really enjoyed staying there.

The W doesn't disappoint. We especially liked the beach bar, with it's sand floor and romantic cabanas.

WOW! It's going to be hard staying some place else. The only downside is that they charge for parking. Everything else was perfect. Good gym, great service.

I really enjoyed my stay at The W San Diego. The customer service, the rooms, the food, and the bars can not be compared to any other hotel in San Diego. If you want to have fun and be treated like Royalty, The W San Diego is the place. It Pops with Class.

Our stay at the W was terrific. The location is a bit off the beaten path but the service of everyone in the hotel was excellent. We especially liked the bartenders in the restaurant bar, they were very friendly and made outstanding cocktails - make sure and ask for the spiced pickles with the bloody mary!

For an upper scale establishment, I expected a few more conveniences like in-room coffee, ice machines on every floor, 24 hr food service or a sundry store for sodas. There is also very little with close walking distance in the way of food choices. I was looking forward to my stay here, but was sorely disappointed.

This place is soooo trendy and fun! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a couple of nights and fell in love with the place. They have a complimentary car service that'll take you anywhere in downtown, even the airport. But make sure you leave enough time to get to where you're going. They have an upstair lounge with sand to make it feel like you are on the beach. Many of the locals come out to have a drink and kick it. The only bad thing about this place was the poor was extremely small. There were only six chairs to lay on. The rooms were modern with comfy beds and a nice tv.

I was excited to stay at the W in san diego, but my excitement soon faded as soon as i arrived. Parking was a disaster, thankfully i found an overnight lot that wasn't too expensive.Check in time was at 3, I arrived around 3:20 and they told me my room wasn't ready, so i had to wait in the lobby for an hour waiting for a phone call that I never received. Finally, I asked if my room was ready & she said it was. I was pleased with the room, very modern & comfortable. The pool was small, no continental breakfast, but overall the hotel was nice, but not like the other extravagent W's you may have seen.

the pool was too small, and it's only open until the sunset. there was no self parking available, only valet and it's $32/night. the beach on the 3rd floor was nice. the room was clean. there is a beach bed by the window that we used as a bed. the room was very nice and clean, but the stuff in the room were extremely expensive.

I had a fantastic time during my stay at the W Hotel in San Diego. I had read various reviews and was not sure what to expect but it exceeded my expectations. It was clean. It was hip and very cool. There were tons of nooks for lounging. The pool was fun. There are only a few chaise lounges so plan accordingly.

Very fun to stay there even for us older folks (60-70) but then we were in the mood for something beyond our usual experience. Service and staff are great, they work very hard to make you feel welcome and accommodated. The location is ideal...can walk to Seaport Village, the mall and the gas lamp district. You feel like you are right in the middle of the party that is San Diego!

I was very excited to stay in my first W hotel. The price was higher than I'm used to paying, but it was a special occassion. The hotel is nicely maintained, and the staff is excellent. However, if I'm paying premium rates, I expect some perks. Instead, I get $6 for a bottle of in-room water, almost $10 for 2 hours of in-room internet (you pay by 2-hour blocks, not full days like in most hotels), and the most expensive overnight parking I've ever paid. Plus, no coffee maker in the room. The hotel roof bar is nice, and they have a great happy hour, but the pool is incredibly small with only half a dozen chairs. I won't be going back anytime soon, but it's a nice place if you only intend on staying one or two nights.

Valet Parking is too expensive $32/day... ouch. Everything else was nice

The hotel is awesome! The staff was very attentive and extremely helpful in every way. The only downside was the immediate surroundings of the actual hotel. A few blocks away is great shopping and food though, but if you want something on the water this is not it!

While the hotel was nice and the price seemed fair at first there were some things that could be improved: Valet sign was not visible (you arrive on a one way street, costs are posted on the OPPOSITE side of valet stand) when you pull up. I asked if this was the only way to park and was told 'yes'. I didn't find out until the next day that parking was $32/night. Internet was $13 for 24 hours. Are you kidding? Even the CHEAPEST of hotels offer free wi-fi. Room could have also used a coffee pot and a mini fridge.

Staff was extremely courteous and friendly. Would stay again whenever in San Diego. Very pleased with everything!

I celebrated my 22nd birthday here with a few friends and we had a great time. The hotel is just blocks from Gaslamp. At the end of the night, although we had music blasting and 15+ people talking over each other, we didn't receive a single noise complaint. The lobby is awesome, it turns into a lounge at night and there's a full bar. Definitely a perfect hotel for the younger crowd looking for somewhere to crash after a night of partying.

I was disappointed that the bathroom did not have a tub, just a stand up shower. I assumed since it was a 4 star hotel it would have a nice bathtub. A pane of glass covers half of the shower so water gets all over the floor. Definitely not a "4 star" hotel experience.

The W San Diego was a very nice hotel that was convenient to theplaces that we wanted to go to downtown. I do believe that it was a bit overpriced for what it was though. The hotel staff was very nice and the concierge was extremely helpful in finding a place to eat etc.

The minute my fiance and I checked in to the W San Diego, we were treated like royalty! Seriously, the staff were superior and very friendly. Anytime I called the front desk or room service the person answering was so curteous. It was a pleasure to experience that everytime I called. Room service was really big nice portions and tasted fantastic! Not to mention really quick. The vibe was hip and cool and fun. The only drawbacks I would say that the room is a little on the small side and the location of the hotel is not exactly the best since there were homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk about a block away. (SAD) Other than that our stay was perfect and I would definately recommend this hotel to friends and anyone asking where to stay in San Diego. =)

I've gotta say, I loved everything about this hotel except for the fact that it is basically a nightclub on the weekend. At arrival, we were greeted by a valet, and parked right away. The desk attendant was really nice, and his accent only added to the high-class feel of the hotel. We got a Spectacular Room, which is the same as the Wonderful Room, but on the higher floors, which makes for a great view. The room was amazing, done in Beachy colors, with a huge window seat. I mean really, the window seat was a good 7 feet long, and 3 feet wide, and super comfortable. The bed is so comfortable, down matress topper, down blanket and pillows...it was more comfortable than my own bed! There was a huge, flat screen tv and a big desk, and even a chalkboard on the wall. The bathroom was nice as well, the shower had one of those rainforest type showerheads, but it only had a half door [weird, and soaked the bathroom floor]. There were Bliss bath products, which were amazing and smelled great. There was also a nice robe, and plenty of towels. I do have 1 complaint...the roomservice. We ordered the "milk and fresh baked cookies" at 8:30p, and were told when we ordered that they were busy so it would take an hour to get the food. Ok, I guess, but really, it was just milk and cookies...how busy could they have been?? Anyways, we get it about an hour later, and its not what we expected at all. Its not fresh baked cookies, but store bought cookies with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. 5 cookies [2 PB, 2 ChocoChip, 1 Coconut] with one small glass of milk...way too little for the amount of money we paid. Definitely not worth it. I didn't love the club atmosphere either. I expected it, but not to the extent that it was. After 9pm on Saturday, it was lights out, strobey type lights, and super loud techno-ey music in the lobby, which apparently doubles as a lounge at night. Now, if that is what you're looking for, its absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, we felt really out of place w

This hotel was a good deal for what we paid. I would say that it is not a place to take kids. The rooms are amazing with a modern touch to it. Overall, service was good. Must pay for valet parking.

It was the week of my birthday so I thought I would treat myself with a stay at the W. Even though I was on the 9th floor the noise from the street traffic, and the buses that were parked outside on the street at all times, sounded like it was right outside my window. My spa experience was below average and the staff at the hotel was not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The location is also a bit of a walk from the Gaslamp district and other attractions but close to the train station. On the plus side the bar area was very nice and seemed to be crowded most nights.

At first I was a little simayed with my hotel choice because the location was less than desirable - BUT once I arrived and I had my first encounter with the staff I knew I made the right choice. They oicked up on the fact it was my birthday (*thanks valet attendant) and not only upgraded my room, but gave me a slice of birthday cake with a signed card! The spa was wonderful too. Best of all the decor made a wearty travelor (days on the road) feel like she was at home again.

This hotel had a sense of humor in the presentation. Very funky and clever. The staff was accommodating. They even have a courtesy car available to take us to Little Italy for dinner which was a nice surprise. Check-in and lobby lounge were in the same area with scented candles. It is close to the airport, which is why we used it.

Awesome hotel...first time at a W Love the modern look and European feel. Techno-ish music throughout...liked that. One little issue is that my shower handle for turning on water broke off at 5:30AM and would have put a wrench (no pun intended) in my morning plans w/ getting a bit of extra work done...getting a shower and breakfast and then to my meeting on-time. In stead of waiting for maintenance and messing up my schedule...they gave me anonther room adjacent to mine just for taking a shower...super friendly staff...paid for my breakfast and parking. Morning went off without a hitch. Will be back.

hotel room was beautiful, clean, comfortable. we didnt like the high price for valet parking that wasnt mentioned til we drove there to check-in. and we booked a double bed but the front desk guy said we got a king. that was cleared up but he wasn't too nice. ohter than that, we enjoyed out stay

My husband and I stayed at the W this past weekend and it was a great time. The room was great, the decor is modern, and it was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would show up closer to 4 than 3 though, I think it takes a bit longer for the rooms to be ready. Parking is $30 valet but if you go for one weekend night, you can park on the street for free at sundown if you find a space. The location is good. Close enough to walk to gas lamp. the drinks are overpriced and in a tiny cup on the rooftop bar but the atmosphere was fun (a little smokey though.) The indoor bar is good to avoid the smoking and the feel of the place is very fun. The Bliss lotion, soap, and shampoo is a nice touch as well. Love that stuff. I highly recommend this place for a romantic night away from the kidlets or even a fun night out with just the girls. ;)
