Imperial Hotel - Manchester

Arrived at 3.30pm no one to let us in. Eventually an old man turned up and tried to get us to pay again (luckily we had had our statement to show the money had already been taken out). Room was smelly with a dripping shower in the so called 'en suite'. The bed was very uncomfortable and we could hear every noise from the other rooms i.e continual toilet flushing noises all night. Breakfast was barely edible. Couldn.t wait to leave!

I stayed at 5 hotels (all booked through the internet) during my stay and this was by far the most expensive and the poorest quality of them all, in fact it was more expensive then many well known brand hotels. The front desk was unwelcoming on my arival although the night porter was very helpful, the rooms felt very dirty and the eb-suite was very poorly maintained.

THe lcoation of this hotel is excellent - right near oxford road. The breakfast that is included was decent and the room size is typical for this type of hotel in europe so all of that was good. The room I was allcoated was dirty. there were very dubious stains on the rug, walls and sink and the sheets on the bed were actualyl dirty. I travel quite a bit in europe and I typcically enjoy smaller low cost hotels. I don't mind sharing a toilet with the rest of the floor and I appreciate the small rooms. My very basic requirements are that the rooms are reasonably clean. I do not expect to be able to eat off of the floor but I also want to able to take my shoes off without fear and I certainyl want to be able to sleep in a bed with clean sheets.

This hotel is badly in need of a re-vamp - a lick of paint and a bit of TLC wouldnt go amiss! Breakfast very good after a poor nights sleep in an uncomfortable bed. We had asked for twin beds but were given a room with a double bed which sagged and seemed smaller than an average double bed (Unfortunately my husband is 6'4" and I am 5'8")

Public areas: worn patches on carpeting; "lounge" area dull, uninviting, cluttered with a wheelchair. My room: old, worn-out; no curtains, white venetian blinds broken, crushed and inoperable; stained wash bowl; disgusting corroded waste bin; disgusting flat and shapeless pillows (covered them with bath towel) & stained pillowcases; sweet papers left by previous guest. Shared shower room/toilet: very broken down, encrusted dirt in all corners of shower cubicle, skirtings and tops of walls.

The only positive thing I can say about this "hotel" (if you even want to call it that) was that it was in a convenient location. Exhausted from our journey, we arrived to the hotel and were greeted by an elderly lady who gave us the key to our room. She was civil to us, but not overly friendly or accommodating. As we walked to our room, we were welcomed by an overwhelming odor of marijuana in the hallway. When we entered the room, it reeked of paint fumes so bad that we had to keep the windows open for the remainder of our stay. Supposedly, they had dinner, but it wasn't available, and there was a sign posted in the room that you weren't allowed to bring in any takeaway food whatsoever (which I thought was rediculous). It is a good thing that the hotel is right accross the street from a hospital, because if the rooms have paint fumes all the time like they did during our stay, it is the perfect location! In addition, the matresses were paper thin and so were the walls. I could hear the drunk people in the next room carrying on all night and did not get a wink of sleep. All in all, it was a terrible experience. I would not recommend it to anyone!

Excellent service - breakfast made speedily to order. Very pleasant staff. Decor a little dated, could do with a lick of paint inside and out but otherwise very good for the price and location (barely 10 mins walk from the uni).

A disappointing hotel. In need of complete renovation and updating. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would avoid at all costs!

Small but it is clean and the price is right. Price includes a full breakfast so that you don't need lunch.

Hotellet var bra plassert i forhold til universitetet i Manchester, og hadde gode bussforbindelser ned til sentrum. hotellet og servicen var helt grei til den prisen.

Det var tillmötesgående personal som fixade det man bad om (adaptor,mer toapapper), kanske inte med största leendet men normaltrevliga. rummet var rätt sjabbigt med ena tapeten delvis uppriven och gardiner som hängde uppe halvt för att hängare saknades. En del spindelväv lite här o var samt ngn liten lampa som inte fungerade. Annars var rummet rymligt och bekvämt och toalett/dusch av bra standard. Frukosten var också bra då man som gäst kunde beställa vad man ville från en mindre frukost meny, dock kanske inte de godaste bönorna/korven man ätit, men ok. Relativt centralt läge, 5 pund för taxi resa till buss stationen.

auf einer parkbank ist man besser dran. wir haben nach ein paar stunden aufenthalt sofort einen rückflug nach deutschland gebucht. das komplette hotelzimmer ist mit schimmel überwuchert. die bettdecken sind mit schönen braunen flecken, und die kopfkissen mit beißend riechenden, gelben flecken verziert (wahrscheinlich war das wc-papier mal leer). heizung funktioniert in dem laden auch nicht. kurz gesagt, ohne vollrausch ist die überlebenschance in diesem krankheitserregenden räumlichkeiten ziemlich gering. wer den nicht vorhandenen putzfimmel der reinigungsfachkraft bewundern möchte, schaut mal in zimmer 27 nach einer bierdose in der schublade des kleiderschranks. diese liegt mit sicherheit in etlichen jahren noch da - das dauert biologisch wahrscheinlich ein paar tausend jahre, bis diese auch zu schimmel wird.

Warum mit 3 Sterne ausgezeignet ????? Höchstens 1Stern, alt und verwohnt.

I don't know why others are bitching about this hotel; it was very nice and friendly.when I arrived, a friendly lady was just cleanig the steps outside, and the room was simple but comfortable.Evrything worked and there was coffee or tea supplies and the bed was comfortable. Ok , don't expect 4 stars or anything, but if you are looking for a plain and simple place to stay for a good price and are not very demanding on unneccessary luxury, stay here!

Ungeachtet der teilw. negativen Kommentare haben wir uns ein eigenes Bild gemacht. Zimmer wirkte auf den ersten Blick zwar klein, aber ok..Auf den zweiten Blick haben wir an der Fensterwand und leider "zu spät" (Abreise) Schimmel festgestellt. Also Zimmer siebenundzwanzig würde ich persönlich nicht mehr buchen.Hotel ist Durchschnitt es gibt für den Kurs auch bessere.

Good hotel with friendly staff, but only with ok infrastructure. Shower did not work well. Excellent english breakfast.
