Palazzo Selvadego - Venecia

Had to check in at Hotel Monaco(just off the water taxi stop at san marco plaza) then they walk you to Selvadego. Room was big and high vaulted ceiling, tv was so small, then again, who watches tv when your in Venice? Complimentary breakfast was awesome too.

Great Location, new room

Much nicer than expected. Large for European hotel. Pleasant and helpful staff. This is an annex of the Monaco hotel which you can see from the water as you pull into Piazza San Marco. Register here and they will walk you to the Selvedago. Continental breakfast on the Grand Canal is included and lovely.

Great location, room was very nice.. I recomend when you go ask for hotel Monaco ans Grand Canal and they will take care of you from then. The public water transport stop is S. Marco.

We did a lot of research before booking this hotel - and it was worth it. It is an annexe of Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal - which isn't immediately apparent and it's not attached to it either. It is important to note that you should check in at the Hotel Monaco which is easy to find - just a few yards to your left as you come off the water bus from the airport. You will then be taken to the Palazzo Selvadego. The room was very clean and serviced well every day. Very comfortable beds - I like a hard mattress tho. Our room looked out onto the Hard Rock Cafe but was quite quiet. There was only a net curtain at the window by the sinks which was a bit of a nuisance but no other complaints at all. It was only a 2 minute walk to breakfast in the morning and that was on the terrace at the water's edge - good fun to watch the gondoliers coming to work and getting the gondolas ready for the day. A small continental breakfast is part of the price but there are other items on the menu which cost extra (yoghurt and a bowl of fresh strawberries were 4 euros). The hotel was very close to San Marco but well away from any noise and bustle. It wasn't a long walk to the Rialto Bridge either.

Although there was a minor snafu with the reservation, in general I had a great stay. Excellent location with small but nicely accomodated room. Friendly staff. Breakfast was at the Hotel Monaco where you could sit with your coffee and watch the gondoliers and have a great view acros the Grand Canal.

I would most highly recommend this hotel. The location was perfect, the staff were friendly. The rooms are cozy (small) but very functional, very clean. The best shower I had the entire 11 days in Italy. I paid 15 Euros to have a porter from the water taxi to the hotel which was 4 minutes away. However coming off an international flight and winding through the streets I glad I paid the money. The hotel doesn't have a huge sign so to find your hotel make sure you note the clothing stores nearby...

This hotel was fantastic! I found it in a hotels.com review. The location was perfect, just steps from San Marco square. The room was a perfect size, the bathroom was really nice too. The staff was really nice as well. You have to check in at the Hotel Monacco & Grand Canal hotel, it's right on the water, just to the left of the San Marco stop. Seriously, this hotel was great and we will stay there again!

This hotel was great value and in a fantastic location, would definately go back. The room was really clean and the staff very helpful. The only comment I would make is that the complimentary continental breakfast at the hotel Monaco could be better.

The Palazzo's location adjacent to Piazza San Marco is just terrific, and it's relationship with the nearby Hotel Monaco makes available any hotel services you could want. Their concierge is very helpful. The included breakfast at the Monaco provides a great panorama of the Grand Canal from the patio. Gondolas, water taxis, and the vaporetto are right there too. Even though I booked a minimal single room, I would have liked to have a comfortable chair and better lighting for reading in the room. Bathroom was very nice.

The Palazzo Selvadego is an annex of the Monaco Hotel which is located adjacent to the Piazza San Marco vaparetto stop. This information was not provided to us when we made the reservation. The annex is hard to find with poor signage and it took about 45 minutes and many asked questions of shop owners to find the annex. Once there, we were very happy. The rooms in the annex are very modern and the air conditioning worked great. Most hotels in Italy either do not have air conditioning or it is an afterthought and the system works poorly. Not so at this hotel! The included continental breakfast was at the Monaco Hotel about three minutes walk away and it's grand canal setting was worth the walk. It is great to relax over a cup of coffee watching the arriving vaparettos and the comings and goings of the gondolas. In two trips to italy in two years and over a dozen hotels, this one was one of the best that we found.

It was a nightmare to find the hotel with its tiny facade and even tinier plaque by the side of the main door indicating its name. It was not made clear at the time of booking that this hotel was a recent addition to a bigger and well established and definitely much easier to find hotel. It wasn,t exactly desirable to have to walk the the parent hotel each morning for the most miserly breakfast I have had in a long time. The room itself was very good and I cannot fault it, however due to lack of staff the service was sometimes limited to the person at the reception.

Hotel was ok. Couldn't find it initially as not clearly signposted and entrance is a small door between some shops. Our rooms were in the main Hotel Monaco which was good.

Room was very spacious, the bed comfortable, modern bath room. Everything was spotless. Staff helpful. Free Breakfast at the Monaco was a great plus. Nothing fancy, but the service and the view of the Grand Canal was what you go to Venice for. Spent two nights before the start of a cruise. Wish I had booked a couple more. Note if you take the Vaporette (crowded and difficult with baggage)from the airport it will let you off directly in front of the hotel Monaco where you register. Same with a water taxi(95 euro) If you take the Alilaguna (13 euro per person)boat you will have to carry your bags over one medium size bridge. Finally, try to get a room at the back if you are a very light sleeper. A bit quieter. However, we were on the front one level up and it was okay.

For the price, this is hands down a steal. The location can't be beat and the rooms are very nice. It is the sister hotel of the larger Hotel Monaco. Just remember to GO STRAIT TO THE HOTEL MONACO to check in. Don't bother trying to find the Selvadalgo. You will have to check in at the Hotel Monaco, then they will take you to the Selvadago which is only a block away.

Great hotel. great location. As stated in other reviews, stop at the hotel Monaco and they will show you how to get there. As info: a water taxi is 95 euros from the airport to the hotel, but it is the quickest and easiest way to get there.

Our stay at this hotel was great. The location can not be beat. It is literally 10 steps away from St. Marks square. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful.

This hotel is wonderful ... the rooms and bathrooms are great. What a wonderful find. The only problem is the signage for the hotel is absolutely tiny. Very hard to find this place. It is best to check in at the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal located on the grand canal to the left of the passenger ferry pick ups. It is where you end up having to check out.

Take the ferry from Venizia and get off at San Marco square. Walk about 50 yards and you arrive at the hotel. The entrance is a bit hard to find. Its just behind the American Express office, and just beside the square. We received a room with a loft. There wasnt much of a view, but you're only steps away from the square. Included in our stay was breakfast, and the parent hotel kept our bags for us all day after we checked out of the hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay there again if/when I return to Venice.

I was a day late arriving due to airline delays and I arrived to find that the hotel had given my room away. I was comped two nights at the sister hotel (Hotel Monaco). So I actually only spent one night at Palazzo Selvadego but must say it is very clean and excellently located next to San Marco square. The bathroom is very large for a European hotel. My only gripe is that my 4:00 AM wakeup call (early flight out) did not come until about 4:30 or so. As other reviewers have said, the easiest way to get there is to arrive via the water bus at the first San Marco stop. The entrance to this hotel is very easy to miss, so you should check in at Hotel Moncao instead and they will escort you and carry your bags.

If you want to be near St. Mark's at a nice hotel for a little money, this is the place. Steps from St. Mark's Square and the San Marco vaporetti stop. If you are coming from the airport or the train station, just take the #1 or #2 vaporetti and get off at the first San Marco stop. It is the next stop after Salute. Clean, quiet, comfortable (but don't think Motel 6!), small, attractive rooms. Nice bathroom. Helpful, friendly staff. This hotel is not on the water and does not have a view, but this was not an issue for me. Heed other traveler's advice to check in at the Monaco(parent hotel to Selvadego--just on your left as you step off the boat at San Marco) and have bellman carry your bags to Selvadego. Selvadego is difficult to spot and it's very easy to lose your way, even though it is basically located directly behind (away from the canal) the building block where the Monaco is. Make sure to pick up a map from the concierge so you can find your way back to the Selvadego. By the way, the accent is on the "va" in Selvadego. People don't seem to understand what you are saying if you put the accent anywhere else! Dining options aren't all that great in the neighborhood, but I had a very good dinner at the Enoteca.

This hotel was extremely chic with a perfect location. Be careful not to blink, because you will miss the doorway - but once inside, the modern amenities were a welcome respite. The only downside is that the rest of the facilities (including breakfast) were in the "parent" hotel about 3 short blocks away...otherwise, a great hotel.

Beliggende 20 skritt fra Marcusplassen, men litt vanskelig å finne da det er et anneks til luksushotellet Monaco & Grand Canal. Innsjekkingen må gjøres der, så blir man fulgt til Palazzo Selvadego. Ikke la dette stoppe deg! Lekkert rom med veldig god komfort. Betjeningen på Monaco & Grand Canal opplevdes veldig arrogante, men til gjengjeld var de som betjente Palazzo Selvadego hyggelige. Frokosten spises på terrassen til M&GC - Venezias flotteste utsikt mot Canal Grande.

Un hotel à 50 metres de la place st marc, chambre spacieuse, gentillesse de la reception et petit dej sur le grand canal. Seul petit bemol, difficile à trouver car petite porte et le nom est gravé dans la pierre. petit conseil pour se reperer à coté de la poste et prés de 2 magasins d'habillement.

Situation idéale à 2 pas de la place St Marc. Petit déjeuner sur le grand canal. Chambre propre, calme et très confortable. Très bien

Situé à quelques metres de la Place St Marc, l'hotel est cependant calme, agréable et très bien équipé. Il s'agit de l'annexe de l'hotel Monaco situé à 200 metres en bordure du grand canal. Les petits déjeuners se prennent au Monaco, sur la terasse au bord du canal si le temps le permet.

+ A coté de la place St Marc Grande chambre 1 nuit gratuite pour 2 achetées - Hotel assez difficile a trouver Vue directe sur l'immeuble d'en face -- Le petit déjeuner se fait a l'hotel Grand Canal Monaco (a 200m de l'hotel), dc pas de possiblité de prendre le petit dej dans la chambre !!!
