This hotel was a little gem. It was very ornate and beautifully appointed. I will say the bathrooms were typically VERY small but well appointed and nice. The location was very quiet in the Jewish Section of Venice. there were lots of great little restaurants and shops close by. The breakfast that was included was good but not extensive. They had a lovely bar.

Our stay at Hotel ai Mori d'Orient was a dream come true and a great value for Venice in the high season. For those who want a peaceful rest in the midst of sometimes too busy Venice, this is the place to book. Readers who want to be in the heart of St. Marks will not like the location (although it is only a twelve minute or so stroll) but for those who want an authentic Venetian neighborhood and a haven from the crush of tourists, this is the perfect place. The elegant hotel is on a quiet, pretty canal with fabulous wine bars and restaurants close by, and within short walking distance to the Rialto Bridge, St. Marks and several Vaparetto stops. We can't wait to return.

The location of this hotel is great if you want to be outwith the tourist throng, but still be within easy walking distance of all the 'sites'. It's an ideal hotel on a relatively quiet canal, with 3 tables outside - many places seemed not to have outdoor space- , ideal for sipping delicious bellinis after a evening out. The bar is just inside and served coffee etc. all day ; we loved watching the world go by on the canal. We had a superior room, although requested a change as our first room had internal window. The subsequent nights were in a more airy 1st floor room. The air conditioning worked well when we used it ( great as it gets humid in summer) and the hotel was very clean and well organised. The Cannegerio district is more 'real' Venice - it's great to walk away from the tourists! There's a well-stocked mini supermarket just over the nearest bridge, and plenty of lovely local restaurants in the next street up; we liked Bella Vita for a good atmosphere and delicious take-what-you-get antipasti.

The breakfast was excellent. The service was great. Caveat, my wife and I speak fluent Italian. If you want to be right where all the action is, this is not the neighborhood for you, but Venice really is not that big a city.

The best thing about this hotel was it's quiet position, near a few better priced restaurants. At the same time it was easy to access Vaporettos to get around the whole of Venice, and even walk if one is that inclined. The service was polite and efficient. The room was poor by our standards, but this was our first tiem in Venice. Breakfast was very average, even for an Italian hotel.

We stayed here after reading recommendations and I felt I should also add our experience. The location was superb as it was in a "real" area of Venice with fewer tourists and some great eating places and bars. Staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet was simple but met our needs. Location wise, it is only a 15-20 minute walk from the Rialto bridge and 5 minutes from a Vaporetto step. There were a few great bars nearby which served lovely wines and food and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing how the locas lived; something you would not get staying near the "top 10" tourist attractions. The hotel was clean, staff were friendly, the location was ideal (for us) and therefore I think it is worth considering if: you enjoy walking, you like experiencing more than the usual tourist traps and are happy to use a hotel as a base rather than somewhere to lie around all day.

The hotel is in a very safe part of Venice and away from the hustle and bustle of the comercial turist locations. However it is very easy to access the water taxis or the public boats and in no more than 20 minutes you can reach St. Marks Square. If you prefer a nice walk then you are looking at about 25-30 minutes. The hotel management was the best we had all week during our travels in that they were all fluent in English as well as multiple languages and very knowledgable about local restaurants, tours etc. They booked a private water taxi for 5 Euros each person to take us to the Island of Mirrano which included a the tour of the largest Mirrano Glass Company. It was truly a great experience and my kids loved it. The hotel is very kid friendly and the breakfast which is included is fantastic. Over all this was the best hotel we had during our 8 days in Italy.

We stayed four nights when we were in Venice and overall the hotel is great. The location can be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. The hotel is located close to the Jewish Ghetto and is essentially on the opposite end from San Marco. So, if you are looking to stay near high priced and poor food but near everyone else, don't stay here. If you are looking for a quiet location and a more authentic atmosphere, I highly recommend this hotel. There are several cantinas nearby, a grocery store w/in a one minute walk and several wine bars. Additionally, it is only a five minute walk to either of the vaporettos, so its proximity to the major attractions is not an issue. My only complaint is that the beds are very firm.

This was a great choice and represented great value for money. It is very close to the public water taxi stop approximately a 5 minute walk. We arrived late at night and the place was deserted so if you are travelling alone you may consider a daytime arrival. Take the orange line on the Alilguna water taxi from the airport to M.Dell'Orto stop although the hotel website recommend a different route this is definitely more direct and does not require a change over. It is very acessible to Rialto Bridge and Rialto Market and takes you to a quieter area of Venice that is free from the tourist tat. Food is much cheaper as is the alcohol and the choice is varied depending on your budget. We also stayed at the more expensive Londra Palace and apart from the Canal View this hotel was just as nice at one third the price for a 2 night stay.

This hotel was wonderful! The staff was VERY friendly and always willing to help out with anything. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to San Marco(the center of venice) and about 10-15 mins to the train station. Be ware of how you plan to get to the hotel. A water Taxi is 95 euros and the public transportation takes over an hour to get to the hotel and just under 20 euros per person. Best to arrive earlier in the day as we just made the last waterbus of the day by about 6 minutes(last one leaves at 11:04pm). Other than that, the hotel is wonderful! Because its farther away from the city center you can get more of a feel for the real Venice! Breakfast includes cold meats and cheeses, pastries, cereal, and yogurts. Hot items are at an additional cost, but are available. Nice room and bathroom, small shower, and NO view from our room, so you have to go out to see the Venice!

This is a lovely hotel on a quiet canal, about 5 minutes walk to a major street and 10-15 mins walk to the tourist areas. Very friendly service with good English and 24 hour reception was great. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the pictures of the room DO look like the room we were given! Though it was a bit disappointing be in the wheelchair accessible (room 3), as whilst it meant there was lots of space in the room, the shower was not contained and much of the bathroom floor repeated ended up flooded. However I'm pleased to see them catering for wheelchair users, even though the rest of Venice is definitely not wheelchair friendly. Overall, great place, would definitely stay there again.

The room we were put up in was a little disappointing at first - felt rather cramped but guess one gets what one can afford. Next morning with the sun coming through the skylight things looked a lot brighter. However, the big bummer was that the for the next 2 days they pulled a shutter over the skylight - even after we requested the front desk to open it. Breakfast was ok and the staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel is a little away from the main attractions which was a boon during the Carnival - provided a good escape from the packed streets in busier parts of the island. Reaching the hotel is convenient via the vaporetta. Overall comfortable stay.

I got a 3 night for 4 deal - other wise I could not have afforded this hotel. Impecable service and cleanliness was unsurpassed. Very very comforable rooms with everything you could ask for including next day weather report. However, we were allocated a very poor room in terms of size and access - ( attic type room) - as far as we could see there were 3 of these , and very small with attic wimdows that were next to useless. I was very annoyed about this room but did not want to complain and upset my guest. We were also concerned about fire access from this part of the hotel, and taked to management on the 3rd day - we were moved to a lovely room - should have been there all along in my opinion. This hotel is somehat out of the way - we loved that but we did not get our bearings until our last day , it's really worthwhile to do your home work on this before you go. In reality the best vaporatta stop is Merculoa on the grand Canal with a shortish walk across a few canales to the hotel . It's hard enough to find your way from St Marks etc if you dont know your way around and so getting on a vaporatta is best . You can buy tickets on board late at night which we didn't know - and this could have saved our legs and feet. Great breakfast - plenty of choice. All in all I would go back for the right price, and ask for a decent room.

We used public transport (water bus) from the airport, twelve euros each and found the hotel very easily. Lovely breakfast up to ten thirty so no early starts on our very relaxing three night stay. This hotel is in a great location, quite residential area and yet just a short walk from the tourist trail. There is a supermarket very close by and a food market daily just a two minute walk away, try the little pizza place on the corner of the market for a cheap, filling and delicious lunch. We bought a three day water bus (vaporetto) pass for thirty one euros each which was good value as we hopped on and off as we liked. Our only fault with the hotel was that on the first night we were a little cold and found the central heating switched off, we were told it was against the law to have it on in Venice after a certain date!

We could literally hear snoring from the next room. On the third night when a large group checked in and had several of the adjoining rooms and they decided to go between the rooms until 2 in the morning slamming doors and talking loudly we finally decided to go to another hotel. Situated in a quiet, picturesque section of Venice, we were amazed at how quiet it was (and how few people we saw on the streets). The staff was very accomodating and provided great recommendations for dinner and were nice enough to give us detailed directions. A continental breakfast is included in your room rate - and its really quite good! We were surprised by how many options there were - and be sure to get a cappuccino - it might not be the best one in Venice, but its darn good. If we ever get to go back to Venice (and we really hope too!), we will most definitely stay at this hotel again. Badezimmer absolut in Ordnung. Fazit: Gute Lage, gutes Zimmer, gutes Frühstück. Also alles, was ein Stadthotel haben sollte. Deshalb werden wir gerne wiederkommen.
