Although the hotel's accomodations were very modest, the room was clean and comfortable. The staff, all family of Mami Camilla, was very helpful and made the stay pleasant. The hotel restaurant is also a cooking school, and for a very modest Sorrento price of 18 euros each you can eat a family style gourmet quality dinner. We enjoyed our stay and the friendliness of the staff. It is, thankfully for us, a dog friendly hotel, and they welcomed our two labradors as part of the family.

This hotel is actually a hostel. The shower is not great with plenty of mildew but the rest of the room is comfortable. There is a cooking school there too.

sobre value="10""Nice little family place, great for couples, a bit far out of town."
Mami Camillia is a nice little family run operation, set in what was once a family villa in a small walled compound in the eastern half Sorrento about a mile and a half or so from the big downtown tourist areas. The compound consists of a handful of hotel rooms and some dorm-type accommodations, with a little lounge, patio and small bar offering some communal leisure space. The family also runs a well-regarded cooking school on the site, and offers an excellent, home-cooked, 3 course family style meal each night at 8:00 (about 18-21 euros). Our room was large and comfortable (and had actual air-conditioning - a rarity in this market - though we didn't have to use it after we opened the window and let the room cool down) The staff spoke very good English (far better at least, than our feeble Italian) and were friendly and helpful. The place was, clean, friendly and cozy, but if you're afraid of dogs, be aware that there are some family pets in the compound; a chihuahua that thinks it's Napoleon and a big mastiff that, as far as we could tell, never actually moves. The place is a bit hard to find, it's just a green door in an old wall along the south side of Via Cocumella. Use the big Hotel Cocumella directly across the street as a landmark. Transportation is a bit of an issue in the area. The tourist sites and harbor are walkable, but it's quite a long stroll, and the sidewalks are disturbingly narrow considering the traffic. But these issues pale compared to trying to use a car in Sorrento. Parking is a miserable experience in town and Mami Camelia really has none, so if you're coming in by car just park the thing in the first available spot on on the street(outlined in blue). Parking is "metered" in the area from 8AM to 8PM, so buy some parking time in the form of a parking card from the tobacco shop across the street from Mami's, mark the date and time, put it on your dash and walk away. (3euro/5 hours). Internet access is available, via a terminal (3 eur

This accomodation is in a pretty good location once found and is clean and confortable. What attracts people here is the food though, very reasonably priced and all local and fresh ingrediants. Many from their own garden. Normally I do not eat in the hotels we stay but this one is a deffinit must. Has offstreet carpark too
