Amazing design, great service, location is just fine - two tube stops from the heart of the city..

I recently stayed at the Silken for one night with a friend and it was definitely an enjoyable stay! The hotel is extremely new and modern and not like any hotel I have stayed in before...it was a nice change to see something different. The room was gorgeous and spacious and very modern and classy. It was unusual to have a bathroom with glass walls but in a good way as it was something different and the room and bathroom were extremely clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a nice flatscreen tv. The hotel was located only a few minutes walk from the metro in a location not far from most attractions within the city. There was also a shopping centre across from the hotel with shops/cafes/restaurants. The pool area is very small however there is a nice view from that floor. I would definitely reccommend this hotel for young singles/businessmen/a city break. Excellent value and very reasonable and I would definitely return.

Although the hotel is in a convenient location to transportation there is no where to get breakfast or coffe in the area before 11am. Not even the hotel serves breakfast other than room service. The hotel is modern but not very clean. Also, bring your own conversion adapters if traveling from the USA. There are not converters for your electronics available.

Found this hotel and was surprised by price given the fantastic quality. It is out of the centre, but in walking distance from the Arc de Triomf area, then its not too much further from there to the harbour, We used the metro mostly, as it was more convenient, metro stop is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. A carnet of ten journeys was the best value we found. The hotel is in an area that seems to be undergoing development, there's not a great amount to do round there, there is a nice little shopping area over the road however. We didn't really see if there were any restaurants in the area but there's a restaurant at the hotel, which looked lovely, although a little over our budget! The hotel bar on the other hand was very reasonable and in the very modern setting of the hotel. The reception staff were very friendly, as were bar staff. The hotel room was lovely, not particularly big, but nicely furnished, lots of natural light, especially with the glass wall between the bedroom and bathroom! The bathroom was fairly new and in good condition with plenty of toiletries provided, which were really nice. We heard no noise from inside or outside the hotel which was great. Electric blinds and good air conditioning. The rooftop terrace does have some fantastic views over the city, The pool is tiny I must note, no swimming at all would be possible. Overall was really pleased with the hotel, definitely worth its four star rating.

Hotel was beautiful but room was quite small. Basic amenities like a kettle or tea making facilites were not available in the room. I feel these are essential.

Rooms good. Reception area very poor- no place to sit comfortably. Breakfast at 17 euros a rip-off. Immediate location is a bit of a building site but very close to Metro and only 5/10 minutes to Placa Catalunya

Stayed at the Silken as it was central to my needs and had wireless broadband and a business center. This was a joke. No access in the room and the business center didnt work either, however the front desk net seemed to work ok for the staff. The hotel is very modern and trendy and like new, but not always practical. No tea/coffee in the room and a batroom with walls made entirely of glass, which when you book a twin room to share with a business partner, it can play havoc with keeping your dinner down when he decides to take a bath before bedtime. If you are thinking of Barcelona as a long weekend, think twice. I am not sure about the summer months but most shops and restaurants dont open untill 1pm, also we went for an evening meal at Port Olympic on the beach front which is a lovely setting with very nice eating places, only to be set upon as we left by 2 locals who tried and failed to pick pocket me of my wallet. These low life knew we were there on Ju Jitsu and Martial Arts business and my wallet was in my tight front pocket, yet they still made an attempt before fleaing empty handed. This make me think that if two 17 stone Ju Jitsu men doesnt worry them, then a small party of family members or a pair of ladies will be a no brainer for them. I wont rush back, but if its for further business, I would use a different hotel purely for more reliable net access, otherwise its ok.

overall an excellent hotel. Near to the Glories Metro for easy travel into Barcelona. Staff friendly and restaurant and bar service very good.

Hotel was excellent, we managed to be upgraded to a suite which was fabulous - rooms were very modeer, spacious and had everything you would need for the stay. It is a fantastic hotel and the only down side is that it is a mile and half walk to the main areas.

I stayed here when attending a music festival at Parc del Forum. The hotel was only a few tram stops from the venue, and equally well-placed for getting into the city centre. The area itself was a bit undesirable, with no restaurants at all in the locality (unless you count McDonalds!). We were highly impressed with the rooms on arrival. Comfortable bedding, modern furniture and impressive bathrooms. However, the bathrooms would not be very functional for those who aren't close (they are glass-walled). The electric window-blinds were a nice feature but ridiculously noisy. As per someone else's review below, the room opposite us who had obviously ordered room service left the tray outside of their room and it was there for 24 hours at least. On our final night there seemed to be some irritating music, but I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Our room was right next to the lift which made it a bit noisy. However, it was a good place to stay all round. Decent sized rooms with funky decor, staff were relatively helpful when approached, and a bargain price. Would probably stay again due to the location for the festival, but would choose somewhere more central if going to see more of Barcelona.

The Hotel was fantastic and was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The roof top pool area has great views of the city and the hotel room we had also had a great view. A bit far from the main part of the city (walkable but only if you have the time) so getting a ten trip transport pass would be a good idea.

great location block away from public transportation. Good service from hotel staff. Rooms in good condition be aware of glass shower area if you are sharing room with friends they can see while showering.

Id say that the hotel was in an up and coming area - the rooms were smaller than expected quite well connected for transport. Not the best location but certainly not a bad one if you dont mind not staying right in the centre. Bar/food were quite expensive in the hotel yet the mini-bar in the room was very reasonably priced. Room servicing was not very good and to be ware that the hotel has 2 sides - one facing the city - the other facing away the latter side has all the double bed rooms - so comfort vs views. All the staff were very nice and pleasant and always did their best to try and help - including checking us into the hotel 4 hrs early! Not too impressed at finding someone elses toe nail by the side of the bed and even less impressed that it remained there for a further 3 days! The hotel pool is a lot smaller in real life than you could imagine from the photographs of the hotel.

Nous y avons passé un bon séjour et en plus nous avons même été surclasés :-) C'est un bel hotel design, bien situé (5 min métro glories), les chambres son confortables, le personnel est sympathique mais ne parle pas beaucoup de langues. Seul point négatif, le design des chambres est joli mais ce n'est pas toujours fonctionnel et vieilli assez mal...

Flott hotell, bra beliggenhet, bra renhet, god service, alt i alt, meget fornøyd. Ligger vegg i vegg med et veldig bra kjøpesenter og i nærheten av glories metro stasjon.

Allant plusieurs fois par an a Barcelone je descendrais toujours dans cet hotel qui a une décoration exceptionnelle et dans laquelle on se sent bien et apaisé, seul petit inconvenient pas assez de rangements dans la chambre et le restaurant qui ferme trop tôt pour diner ( 21h15) surtout en Espagne

A good choice for the traveller who wants a modern styled hotel. It's not in the center of the old city, but near metro and city-train stations. 20 min. walk to the beach.

Overall a really good hotel although with flaws like broken items in the room children playing in the pool in the middle of a construction area. I think the ambition is higher than the ability. Although close to metro, tram, shopping mall, market etc and overall a good hotel.

Väldigt fint och rent hotell. Fantastiska rum och fin pool och bar på taket. Bra kommunikationsmöjligheter. Finns shoppingcenter 100 m från hotellet. Annars byggs det mycket i området och är kanske inte så trevligt.

Et rigtig lækkert hotel, få meter fra metro til byen. Absolut et sted jeg vil komme igen.

l'hotel est trés moderne avec des materiaux de qualité mais il n'est pas entretenu comme il devrait vu le standing de l' établissement(taches sur les murs, rideaux déchirés,murs qui s'effritent...).l'insonorisation des chambres est médiocre. Petit plus, le tram est au pied de l'hôtel!

Mycket snyggt och annorlunda designat. Bra pris om man bokar tidigt. Mycket bra standard och service. Fantastisk frukostbuffé - Obs, frukost ingår sällan i priset. Nära metron och bara fyra stationer från Placa Cataluna.

Silken Diagonal er et hotell som kan minne litt om designhotell. Rommene er lyse og fine og servicen er god. Hotellet ligger litt usentralt i forhold til sentrale Barcelona, men trikken er ikke langt unna. Det er ikke lange avstanden til Sagrada Familia heller. Hotellet ligger i et relativt rolig strøk, og er et godt alternativ dersom det ikke er kjempe viktig å bo midt i gryta.

As a manager of a 4-star designhotel i might observe things differently, however even my husband could not help but notice that during our 6-day stay at this hotel non of the staff members met us with a 'hello', 'good morning', 'how is your stay' or even with a nod when we arrived to or left from the hotel. Even when I kindly asked the lady at the Front Desk if she could help me find out what time the football game was to start, she told me to look it up in a newspaper.... If I knew Spanish that would off course be no problem... In my hotel this would be an official misconduct. However, this is a very stylish hotel. The lobby and rooms are nice and comfortable and we slept as babies in the bed. Even if there are constructions outside, there was no noice to disturb us. As well the communications are great - just a couple of minutes walk to the nearest metro station, which takes you to Plaza Catalunya in 5 minutes!

Le stanze sono ampie, il letto comodissimo e il bagno-acquario una trovata divertente. Peccato però che facendo la doccia molta acqua finisca sul pavimento. Molto bello il necessaire da bagno, un incastro di scatoline di cartoncino colorato. Ho avuto l'impressione, soprattutto negli spazi comuni, che il Diagonal sia quasi la caricatura di un design-hotel, tenti di esserlo ma spesso sia fuori bersaglio. Ma per questa cifra va benissimo.

Rent, fräscht och fantastiskt snyggt hotell. Ligger bra till tunnelbanans röda linje och med gångavstånd till La Sagrada Familia. Mitt över gatan ligger ett större köpcentrum med matbutik, restauranger och klädaffärer. Jag skulle föreslå att alla bokar med frukost. Den var fantastiskt bra.

Cool hotel, modern, minimalist, electronic music inthe loby BUT No WIFI in rooms!

Non centrale ma ben collegato col resto della city. Vi consiglio di fare un bagno notturno con la torre AGBAR accesa.

December 2007 verbleven in het Silken Diagonal Barcelona. Prachtig nieuw hotel in een omgeving die vergelijkbaar is met La Defense in Parijs. Mooie nieuwe kamers met alle gemakken. Niet heel erg groot maar zeer fraai designed. Enige minpuntje is de afwerking van de electriciteit. een aantal contactdozen zijn kapot. (is echter niet storend). Verder is de metro op 3 minuten loopafstand en daarmee heel barcelona in handbereik. Ontbijt hebben we niet genoten in het hotel, dit was ?20 per persoon. Prima altenatieve ontbijtmogelijkheden aan de overkant van het hotel waar een uitgebreid nieuw winkelcentrum ligt. Hotel is een echte aanrader!!
