Grand Hotel Alimuri - Meta

The veiw of the gulf and the atmosphere was great but the room was very dirty. It was a long walk to the city but public transportation was very close and easy to use. It was the off season and it was a great room for the money.

My boyfriend and I arrived to the hotel late from a long day of traveling by train. When we got there we were starving, but the restaurant was closed and so was everything else that was near the hotel, especially since we got there late. So we didn't eat anything that night. In the morning we got up to eat lunch but the restaurant was closed and they didn't have 24hr room service. The staff wasn't very informative either and seemed to give us the cold shoulder. At that point we had enough and checked out early. We went to a hotel that was 15 minutes away, in a much better location and in Sorrento. We made sure this hotel had 24hr room service. We had some problems with our heating unit as well, so when we went to bed a night we were freezing. The hotel room wasn't the greatest. This hotel definitely did no meet our expectations. It really brought down our mood. We were really happy to get out of there. This hotel also doesn't give refunds. What a waist.

The Alimuri Hotel was very nice. Our room was great. My wife and I were there in early April. This hotel faces the Bay of Naples and has a nice European beach (rocks instead of sand). It's surrounded by cliffs, the hotel is at the bottom of them. Its a very beautiful setting. It was off season and the hotel was only partially filled. Though it didn't bother us, we were the only Americans. It has a beautiful lobby and a formal dining room, plus all the extras a first class hotel would have, like a spa. We are budget travelers and we did not use all the extras. We did eat at the breakfast buffet, it was included with our stay, and we enjoyed it very much. This hotel is pretty much by itself, and a little out of way; which could be part of its charm. Though it is somewhat secluded, it has easy access to the local train station. The trains constantly travel back and forth from Naples to Sorrento; they cover all the major tourist spots. The trains are a great and inexpensive way of getting around. We used them all the time, and we had a car. I think in the summer time when you can really use the beach, it was too cold in April, this hotel would be packed. The downside of the hotel is it's hard to find. We rented a car in the airport in Rome, and had a tough time finding it. First, it's not in Sorrento. It's in Meta, a small town on the outskirts. To get there you have to go through a short tunnel, and once through, the road ends not too much past the hotel. Would we stay there again? Definitely, if the price was right. Who would this hotel be great for; older people who really want to kick back and relax in a very beautiful setting, and I think honeymooners who want to spend some romantic time together. The small town of Meta is very nice, with narrow cobble stone streets; but if you're looking for alot of shops and night life within walking distance, this isn't the place. In saying that, you're only two very short train stops from the gramour of Sorren

The hotel was excellent in the old style, very elegant. We got into Sorrento late, and it was hard to find, but the overall experience was fantastic!

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Location to the beach, views, service and room were excellant. While not in Sorrento proper, access to bus, train or taxi was available. Only minor complaint is that the bed covers were not as fresh as they could have been.

Läget vid vattnet nedanför klipporna var väldigt vackert och mycket smidigt med egen strand och strandstolar. Då det dessutom finns mycket få stränder i Sorrento så blev det ett extra plus.
