Grand Hotel Villa Tuscolana - Frascati

The hotel seems geared for conferences and little else. Service was poor. It is situated at the top of the hill behind Frascati. If you don't have transport (like we didn't), It is a 10-15 minute walk down the hill, but I wouldn't recommend walking back up the hill. The hotel offers free pickup and dropoff to/from the train station on arrival and departure, but not during your stay. They will collect you/drop you off at other times for a fee - but not after 11pm (as we discovered after the fact). The few taxis in Frascati don't operate in the evenings and we were forced to walk back up the hill in the dark on roads not made for pedestrians. There was also a foul smell emanating from the drain in our bathroom throughout our stay.

The hotel is a beautiful 16th century villa set in lovely grounds in the hills above Frascati. So far so good. The problem is the place doesn't really run as a hotel but more a conference / wedding centre. We arrived on Sat and were told we couldn't eat in the hotel nor even was the bar accessible. After complaining we were told that we could have a drink but this didn't materialise since the barman was too busy dealing with the many people at some cycling function. The pool is a green slime pit and the hotel is quite a way out of Frascati so there aren't any alternatives. In our case the situation is compounded since I have an injured foot and limited mobility. The hotel runs a shuttle bus but will try to charge €5 per person per trip. The next day we managed to book an evening meal but even this was strange as we were placed in a separate room with just one other family who presumably were in the same predicament as us. It was odd rather than luxurious. Consequently we felt we didn't belong and like second-class guests. And for a luxury hotel this isn't what you want. We left early after two days of this. The place is potentially wonderful but the management need to decide whether they want to run a conference centre, in which case don't take ad hoc guests, or a normal hotel, in which case behave like one. At the moment I suggest people avoid staying there.

Beautiful location near Frascati. Car beneficial to explore area and get to and from town. Hotel has a minibus which charges EUR 5.00 per person each way into Frascati. No air con in rooms. Room a little tatty round the edges with shower screen hanging off, but loads of charm overall. Popular for weddings at weekends which makes pool unavailable and sleep tricky. Our room overlooked a courtyard close to the function room so other rooms may be better.

C'è da sottolineare che l'Hotel si è dotato di una bella SPA ma che l'ingresso è a pagamente anche nelle zone relax, idromassaggio e piscina coperta...mi sembra eccessivo!!

Sehr ruhiges Hotel in wunderbarer Lage in günstiger Lage zu Rom´s Innenstadt. Service etwas unpersönlich, aber korrekt. Zimmer sehr karg und klein, laden nicht zum Verweilen ein. Insgesamt hat das Hotel nach internationalem Standard die 4 Sterne nicht verdient. Ein Stern weniger wäre angebracht.
