Kenneth Mackenzie Suite - Edimburgo

Very basic. Clean. Central, in the middle of the university area. Perfect for visiting parents.A bit noisy, but it was the beginning of freshers' week.Very good breakfast.

I wasn't impressed with this hotel, based on the price we paid - it reminded me of my dorm room 15 years ago, but with a private, tiny bathroom, in which you can literally sit on the toilet seat while taking a shower. The hot water was unpredictable - there didn't seem to be any way to accurately control the temperature. It was clean and extremely convenient to the Royal Mile and the train station, but that's about all I can say to recommend it.

Well located for all the main fringe venues. Ex hall of residence but now functions as a budget hotel in a quiet street. Rooms at back overlook car park, view from front rooms better and get morning sun. On four floors, no lift so ask for first floor (no ground floorrooms) if you cant do stairs. Excellent breakfast., staff very helpful. Very clean, Shower room "cosy" (wet room layout with curtain to stop water going every where)

The hotel is well positioned, about a 10 or 15 stroll to the centre. The hotel itself is very basic but provides an excellent breakfast with an extensive choice of full cooked breakfast and / or cereals, croissants, tea, coffee, juice etc. Extremely good. The room was clean and functional with en suite bathroom, tv, tea / coffee making facilities. The hotel was really quiet too, but perhaps we were lucky. The bed though was pretty uncomfortable and the mattress definitely needs changing. The springs were digging into my back all night so that was a negative point. The bathroom needs ungrading too. The shower floor was more reminiscent of dodgy football changing rooms, all discoloured and grubby looking. My girlfriend was none too impressed with that!! There didn't appear to be a lift either and as we were on the 4th floor that could have caused problems for the less mobile. However, on the whole I thought it was pretty good value for money considering it's position and the quality of the breakfast.

They place definitely reminds me of a college dorm but if all you need is a place to sleep (like me) then it works great. Within walking distance of the Royal Mile and lots of pubs and restaurants. The included breakfast is pretty good too.

A delightful discovery. A very comfortable room and very pleasant and helpful staff made for a memorable stuff. Another plus was the hearty breakfast. 5 out of 5!

Visited Edinburgh for the Ireland v Scotland rugby match - always expensive time - found Mackenzie Suite on the internet and looked reasonable for all that my wife and I were looking for. Reviews were good and pricing reasonable. The accomodation is fine - it is a student halls of residence converted into a small hotel. The room was perfect for our needs as only sleeping in the room and no need for added extras. The location was ideal - 10 minutes max walk from Waverly Station/Royal Mile and 15 from Princes St. The breakfast was really good - superb full Scottish and the staff were all extremely helpful. For value for money hard to beat - would certainly stay there again and would recommend to others as long as they are not looking for luxury accomodation.

really good sevice, very clean and exceptionally comfy stay for the price, very close to where i needed to be and pleasantly surprised by the room's facilities. if i was going to edinburgh again i would definitely go back to the same place - great for a one night stay like mine, but not much character if you're looking for somewhere to spend a holiday.

A no frills hotel, but incredible for the cost. i was very pleased with my stay and especially the huge, tasty breakfast served each morning. Great for students and people who just need a place to stay but don't want to stay in a hostel. It was about a ten minute walk from the Royal Mile, but a pleasant walk.

as stated before, this place is not an actual "from the ground up" hotel. It once was a student halls, as such the rooms are about average for size. The toilet and shower are stupidly close meaning when you shower it gets the whole toilet wet. The room was boiling! i know we have recently had icy/showery spells but it felt like 30 degrees inside. its storage heating also which means it just fires out heat all the time, so i switched it off. However opening the window brought a cool breeze but with the added noise... The bed itself wasn't that comfy either.. There is no lift for getting heavy luggage to rooms also breakfast is outside and around the corner, however the breakfast is very good, either vegetarian or scottish full breakfast plus continental buffet.

This was great value for being so close to the city centre. would stay there again and would recommend.

Very basic but we were in Edinburgh to enjoy the city and spent little time in our room. It was small, but clean and yes, the shower is tiny but the water was hot. The staff were friendly and the breakfast in the students lounge next door a great deal as eating out in the UK very expensive. Full breakfast, made to order, with a table of self serve fresh fruit juice, fresh fruits, toast, sweet breads, coffee, tea, etc included. Buses run from the town center but we walked from Waverly Station cutting up on Cockburn Street to the Southbrige insead of crossing the bridge (a lot faster)but a lot of local buses run past Nicolson Street a short block from the hotel We were on the 3rd floor - no elevator - but only had small rolling suitcases so it was not a problem. If all you want is a clean, inexpensive, 'no frills' place to stay while enjoying the awesome city of Edinburgh then I would recommend. I had read somewhere that there was no place to leave baggage but they do have a locked area and we were able to check out and come back later in the day for our luggage.

Frankly, the room was just tiny. It was basically a dorm room, and the bathroom was even smaller than any dorm bathroom I've seen. The shower is not closed off from the toilet and sink area, they are all in one tiny little room. You can't even get your face out of the water stream unless you open the shower curtain and move over, which will get water all over the toilet and entire bathroom floor (which is just a giant drain). The location is the only nice thing about this hotel.

I stayed at Kenneth MacKenzie Suites on a recent business trip to Edinburgh. It was a terrific experience -- I can highly recommend the hotel to anyone travelling to Ediburgh for business or simple-style travel. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and well-appointed. The location is also very convenient to the university and the old city. (It was also convenient to the city center, where my meeting was.) One thing for business travellers to keep in mind: the hotel does not have internet (wifi or otherwise), so people wishing to check email or use the web will need to go to one of the nearby cafes or bars with wifi access.

As one of the (if not the) cheapest place to stay in Edinburgh city centre (just a short walk up to The Royal Mile) it's perfectly adequate. The room was small and plain as befitting its former life as student accommodation but comfortable enough. The ensuite was tiny but clean. We have stayed in many hotels and would be happy if all our budget hotels were like this. We stayed on a Saturday night and both the area and hotel was very quiet. The rest of the complex is still student accommodation. The desk service was friendly and the breakfast (served next door) was fine for the price with good service. The hotel is still run by Edinburgh University so they have a reputation to maintain. Recommended as a budget stay.

We've stayed at this hotel several times, the rooms are basic with ensuite shower loo facilities. Good variety for breakfast. A short walk to the Royal Mile, 15mins walk to station & shops.

As an overseas traveller, I really wanted an internet connection in my room to stay in touch and access information about further travel. This hotel is in a great location and is relatively clean, but missing the internet completely.

It was clean and the staff were helpful. There is a frequent bus line near the front door and an available health club. The view from our window was very plesant but there were 4 blackout curtains to cover 3 windows leaving a 4th small window with only a light shade. We notified the staff. The front desk acts as conseierge.

Prix très intéressant, hotel super bien placé, super petit déjeuner, mais chambre assez bruyante (clim extérieure ) et douche vraiment pas pratique, un total plutot positif .

God frukost og super plassering i forhold til både gamlebyen og nyebyen! Me kjem gjerne tilbake!

Die Zimmer sind sehr klein und einfach eingerichtet. Dafür ist das Frühstück recht ordentlich und man kommt zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten in die High-Street und zu den touristischen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Für den Preis ist das Hotel in jedem Fall zu empfehlen. Zu beachten ist, daß es keinen Aufzug gibt. Wer schweres Gepäck hat, muss es die engen Treppen hoch schleppen. Wir waren bereits das dritte mal in diesem Hotel und würden uns wieder dafür entscheiden.

Det er en godt hotel til prisen med god service og et rigtig god morgenmad. Vi vil klart bruge det igen næste gang vi kommer til Edinburg

Das Hotel ist zentral gelegen, ca. 10 Minuten von der Altstadt entfernt. Das Zimmer im 4. Stock (ohne Lift) sehr sauber, das Bad klein ohne Abstellflächen. Die Klimaanlagen des Innenhofs sind recht laut. Der Eingang und die Reception abschreckend, aber ok. Dass das Frühstück in einem andern Haus eingenommen wird, ist etwas ungewöhnlich. Einrichtung im Frühstücksraum sehr sehr einfach, das Frühstück aber sehr gut und reichhaltig.

le parking n'est pas prévu et il est quasi impossible de se garer devant l'hotel., La salle de bain ne sentait pas bon et n'était pas pratique du tout. Chambre sans aucune décoration et donc très froide.

Hotellet lå sentralt til i Edinburgh, bare noen få hundre meter fra The Royal Mile. Jeg tror dette hotellet bare fungerer på sommeren, ellers i året er det studentboliger. Standard var enkel, men tilfredsstillende. Frokosten ble servert i et eget rom som lå 20 meter unna hotellet. Den var fin. Hvis man aksepterer enkel standard, (men selvsagt dusj og toalett), var dette et godt valg. I tillegg kommer en gunstig pris. Selv med lav kurs på pundet, er ikke Edinburgh noen billig by.

Hotellet ligger centralt, det tager ca 5-10 min at gå til royal mile. Værelset var meget lille til 2 voksne, men der var rent. der er ingen elevator, så med tunge kufferter kan der være langt op til 4 sal. Morgenmaden kan anbefales, der kan man vælge mellem det lokale eller det internationale. Til prisen var det godt :)

Et pænt rent og funktionel hotel. Et virkelig godt valg hvis man ikke forlanger luksus eller lignende. Er placeret i gå afstand til old og newtown. Morgenmaden er fremragende. Kan virkelig anbefale dette hotel, men vær opmærksom på der ingen luksus eller deslignende er.

unsaubere Duschen - Schimmel, vorgegebene Festeinstellung des Duschkopfes nicht aenderbar, Duschkopf kann nicht in Hand genommen werden, nasse Haare lassen sich nicht vermeiden. Temperaturregelung schwergaengig, Regelung fuer die Wasserstrahlstaerke existiert nicht Abgesehen davon war mein Zimmer sehr komfortabel eingerichtet und der Service stimmt

Ordentliches Zimmer mit einem etwas kleinem Bad (Mini-Waschbecken). Für "Fußkranke" nicht geeignet, da kein Aufzug vorhanden. Leider fehlen auch zusätzliche Haken für Sachen aufzuhängen im Zimmer sowie im Bad. Jeden Tag frische Handtücher, und Tee/Kaffee oder Kakao Tüten wurden aufgefüllt. Frühstück war super. Es war alles vorhanden bis auf Aufschnitt.

Mit Sicherheit kein Luxushotel KLein , sehr sauber , wunderbares Frühstück , zentral gelegen. Was braucht es mehr ,wenn man nícht nur auf dem Zommer bleiben will

Il rapporto qualità/prezzo è buono:vicinissimo al Royal Mile, breakfast ottima e abbondante (compresa nel prezzo della stanza) ma la stanza è davvero piccola e il bagno è "stile camper"
