Vivahotel Pitti Palace Ponte Vecchio - Florencia

Enjoyed our stay but our standard room was small, dark . very poor lighting facilities and the bathroom was squeezed into a corner with hardly space to get into the bath . As we were staying for nine days, we requested a better room and the helpful reception staff gave us a much bigger room with a spacious bathroom... bliss... but no mirror in the room except over the wash basin in bathroom . Excellent laundry service

The location of the hotel is unbeatable. The exit leads right onto the Ponte Vecchio. The room was average size. Queen bed, desk with large mirror, private bathroom with bathtub, closet, fridge, AC, flat-screen TV (including CNN) and safe. Medium size elevator for European standards. They can be tiny at times. Some reviews mentioned trouble with noise from the streets. We had no trouble, even though our rooms were on the 3rd floor right above the busy street below. I usually sleep with earplugs anyway. The AC was out in the entire hotel our last day, it was fixed the same day. There was a slight water leak from the bathtub when showering. Not a big deal. The breakfast/lunch area is amazing. Top floor on a deck. Great view to the Duomo and other towering buildings. There was no room service available when we called even though it was advertised in their in-room menu. The hotel booked a great one-day-Tuscany bus-tour for us. Overall, the hotel was a great choice for our 4-day stay.

A very pleasant hotel with friendly staff, a great view over the city from the 6th floor dining area and centrally located for the main sites. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

would defenately stay at this hotel again, fabulous breakfast on the terrace overlooking the roofs of Florence. Easy to find, just over the Ponte Vecchio.

The room was a bit cramped, but the location more than made up for it. The Japanese looking gent at he front desk was a reservoir of knowledge and helped us plan the rest of the trip. Than you!

Overall not a bad place to live for the price paid. Conveniently located in the center of city and places to see.

I read many of the reviews on Hotels.com before making a reservation for this hotel. Some were accurate, others were overdone. This hotel is one of the best values you can get in anywhere in Italy including Florence. The location is perfect. Right on the corner next to Ponte Vecchio which is where all the shopping begins. I read reviews that is is noisy outside. The hotel is in a busy area but it is only because everyone wants to be in this area. The rooms aren't filled with amenities and are not even large. But who goes to Florence and expects to spend a lot of time in your room? The breakfast out on the terrace is nice. The view is okay and not as grand as many reviews made it out to be. The buffet was definitely lacking anything tasteful except cereal but it was free. If you are looking for a place to stay that is affordable and in a great location, this is for you. If you want a high end romantic getaway, continue your search. I definitely recommend this hotel for affordability, value, and location.

Really enjoyed the experience at Vivahotel Pitti Palace Ponte Vecchio. The location was ideal for accessing the old city centre and surrounding locations. Highly recommend the hotel and the breakfast on the terrace was outstanding if nothing more than the view of the Duomo and surrounding city centre. Grazie Mille!!

This hotel is within walking distance to all historical sites within Florence. Very clean with good customer service.

This hotel was very convenient to almost everything we wanted to do. The room was satisfactory. The breakfast was wonderful and the setting was above nice. We would definitely stay there again and would reccomend this hotel to our friends.

I has stayed at a number of 3* Hotels in different parts of Italy over the years, and can say that this is without a doubt a very fine example in a great location. The staff are helpful and friendly and the rooms comfortable although perhaps a little small (it is 3*). Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely

Go to Florence a lot as our daughter lives there. Stayed in many hotels and this is the best. Slick, friendly, efficient, beautiful terrace bar and a great location.

This hotel was in a perfect location to the shops and resturants - inexpensive to take a taxi to hotel from train station. Beautiful patio's to have breakfast on - the room was normal size for Europes standards. My only complaint was the bed was hard as marble - which is also an unpleasant consistancy noted in Europes hotel rooms. Very nice city - I will come back to this hotel again.

Stayed one night with a friend. This hotel has a fantastic location, lots of tourist buzz, and the breakfast terrace deserves the praise in other reviews. Our room looked onto the Ponte Vecchio. Main complaint is that we requested a non-smoking room and the room had a strong odour of cigarettes. This meant we had the windows open, which let in noise and dirt (possible explanation for grimy room).

Excellent location, though fairly worn out and doublebed was two twin bed pushed together.

This is a quality 3 star hotel in what can only be described as the perfect location for exploring Florence. Excellent value for money, friendly staff and comfortable accommodation.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, within walking distance of the centre and lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Our rooms were a bit small but well furnished and very quiet. The restaurant has the most amazing views over Florence and the breakfast was fine. It serves dinner but we did not eat in so I cannot comment on it.

When you visit Florence, you do just that sight see and take in the scenery and culture - you do not want to be in a Hotel all day. If you have this in mind this hotel is perfect, its location is second to none, with good clean rooms and an excellent continental breakfast - you will not find better for the money.

Hotel is clean, staff is friendly, bathroom is nice, but no fan, Hotel location is convenient to most of the attractions and shopping area, just walking distance. We were told they have internet, but they don't have the cards to use it, so we had to find one outside. One thing we really don't like is the TV position. It was like watching from a hospital bed. You can only view it better if you are lying down on your bed. Otherwise, you'll have still neck.

This hotel is just on the oltrarno side of the Ponte Vecchio. If you're not in the market for gold jewellery you might not find the bridge itself all that exciting, except for its age, and the Vasari corridor (going all the way from the Uffizi to the Pitti palace) running along the top of it. But Ponte Vecchio is close to some of the major art attractions in Florence, including the aforementioned Uffizi, and the Pitti palace. If you are staying there during the summer the nearby Boboli gardens, behind the Pitti palace, will offer some welcome fresh air and greenery. Some of Florence's best shopping destinations are within a few minutes' walk, and there is no shortage of bars and restaurants nearby. The service here was friendly and helpful. The room was small though perfectly adequate, and contained a desk and chair. The bathroom was tiny, and contained no bath, though I don't mind that for a short trip. (If one were of more ample proportions, though, getting in to the shower, past the edge of the sink, might have been a challenge!) The delight of this hotel, beside its central location, is its 6th-floor restaurant (serving breakfast and dinner). I didn't eat dinner there, but having breakfast with a beautiful view of the cathedral's belltower and dome, the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio, and the hills of Fiesole in the distance, really set one up for the day.

I was given an extremely small room towards the back of the hotel off off a busy street and consequently extremely noisy. The room was hot, opening the windows for comfort only increased the noise. It was an extremely unpleasant stay.

Just a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio, but not the price you would expect for such a location. From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful - the room was comfortable (though even in October a bit warm) Breakfast (included in the price) was a buffet taken in the 6th floor restaurant - great views to start the day. We would certainly go back again.

Located close to Ponte Vecchio. The Hotel sells itself on the view from the balcony, unfortunately it was closed one of the days during our stay. No double beds. Florence traffic does not sleep so you may not. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay despite the traffic.

The room was small, the pillow so flat it was close to retirement and the noise from the street was intense. Its a shame since the hotel is situated in a lovely location. The breakfast was average however the food supplies didn't appear to be refreshed on a daily basis (stayed there for 4 days and on day 1 they ran out of banana's, no replacement by the time I left).

Pitti Palace Florence is unbeatable in terms of value for money. The location is perfect and the rooftop terrace has beautiful scenery. The hotel is clearly trying to refurb all the rooms to similar standards however the rooms we were given although clean, fully air conditioned and comfortable were also dark and noisy with the street traffic right outside. Rooms two one one and two one two are ones to avoid. Two doors down the corridor the rooms seemed to change to the refurbed ones so be sure to ask for those. Breakfast was great, male reception staff a bit miserable but I would stay again.

The Pitti Palace is perfectly placed, right in the middle of Florence, on the Ponte Vecchio, for visiting the city's main tourist sites. The hotel is surprisingly quiet, clean and comfortable, and the service is warm, friendly and efficient. Our only gripe during our three-day stay in September 2008 was that the TV reception was atrocious: we tried to watch the morning and evening news but the newsreaders on both BBC World and CNN were barely audible because of a loud buzz on both channels. And we would have liked to have had a kettle, cups, teabags and milk in the room to allow us to make tea in the early morning and mid-afternoon. Otherwise we recommend the Pitti Palace Hotel highly.

The main strength of this hotel is its location. It is literally next to the Ponte Vecchio, and a few steps away from Palazzo Pitti. Regarding Hotel service, comfort etc., it does its job reasonably well. We also enjoyed the breakfast on the 6th floor with a view over the historic centre. Given the amazing location and the very fair price, the hotel is definitely very good value.

The hotel staff was friendly, knowledgeable and curteous. The hotel location is great, and the value for the money is unbeatable. Definitely a recommendation for any of my friends.

a superb location is what you get for your euro's here...litteraly step out of the hotel door onto one of florence's main tourist attractions "Ponte Vecchio"...wander down this street and you'll find vertually all of the main tourist spots and tons of places to eat & drink

Enjoyed Forence,although hotel room was basic and compact it has everything you needed for a 3 star hotel. Our beds were made daily with fresh linen and towels,Breakfast was excellent with lovely views from restaurant terrace. Our room was on the 5th floor of the hotel and had a small balcony lower rooms do not have balcony. Location though was excellent just across the Ponte Vecchio bridge. It made our stay just the location alone.

This hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Florence. OK, my room could have done with repainting, but the hotel is literally by Ponte Vecchio and a short and lovely 5 min walk to the Uffizi. The reception was helpful and breakfast adequate, although busy. I would definitely stay there again.

Rooms are fairly basic but clean and functional. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, and the terrace which overlooks the Duomo is a real bonus. Good value, and a superb location for sightseeing. Wifi very slow, though free, and a little temperamental. Would definitely stay again on a sightseeing trip.

If yo want to be centrally-based and right amongst it, this is the place to stay. Ten steps from the hotel is the Ponte Vecchio, 100 yards from the Pitti Palace itself. Helpful English-speaking Hotel staff.

This hotel is a perfect base for visiting all the major sights of Florence.Whilest the bedrooms could do with renovating,they were comfy and clean.The hotel staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful.I particularly enjoyed having my breakfast out on the lovely roof terrace...looking out over the city,wonderful.I would definately stay there again.

Location is great, but the room I was given was along a busy street. Hustlings and noise coming from the roads were a big disturbance, even at night when it's time to rest.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The view from the breakfast room is great and the location is unbeatable for the price.

Perfect spot, and having the bar and breakfast on the top floor gives great views. Recommended.

We stayed in the Piti for 4 nights unfortunatley the hotel room are seriously runned down. We had a hole in the ceiling. But worst of all our room smelled like sewer! Every time the upstairs room would flush our bidet stunk! It gave me the worst headache and the smell would wake me up in the middle of the night.After 5 times of complaining nothing was done for us. I would not recommend this place to any friends or family.

Single rooms really small and minimally decorated. Located on a busy street intersection which made it noisy.

This hotel was such a bargain for the position it's in, You step out the door of the hotel, cross the road and you're ON the Ponte Vecchio. We couldn't believe it was so near everything when we got there. 5 mins walk and you're at Piazza Della Signoria, The Uffizi, Pitti Palace, etc. Another few minutes walk and you're at the Duomo and Baptistry. For the Uffizi the hotel reception will book tickets for you in advance. Don't miss the Museo Della Storia Scienza where they have the objective lens that Galileo used to discover the moons of Jupiter, amongst other telescopes he used. Amazing collection of scientific instrumentation! The Santa Croce is definitely worth a visit, beautiful church where famous people from Florence are buried including Galileo, Fermi, Da Vinci, Dante, etc. There is a fantastic restaurant nearby on the Via di Santo Spirito, it's called Il Santo Bevitore. The food is well presented, delicious and interesting. Great selection of cheeses, cold meats, etc. with some very good vegetarian choices! Excellent wine list, great atmosphere, good prices and just a lovely place (converted stable-house) to have a memorable meal! Best of our holiday, so we booked for the next night too! Florence is a beautiful city with so much to see and do, we had 4 days before going to Lucca and it was not enough! Feels safe at night too!

Great location, but extremely noisy because situated at a junction in the busiest part of the tourist district.

This hotel has by far the best location for a visitor to Florence. It is located a few blocks from the Pitti Palace and across the street from the Ponte Vecchio, and a short walk from the Uffizi, the Duomo, the main shopping district, as well as several good restaurants. On the fourth floor we were well insulated from the bustle of the street below. The staff was very professional, friendly, polite. Breakfast was free, varied, and wholesome. The air conditioning in the room survived a 103 degree heat wave. The only problem with the hotel were the beds, two singles pushed together to make a queen, they were very hard with thin, flimsy pillows.

This hotel was great for the money. It was right over the Ponte Vecchio which is prime location for visiting the tourist spots. The room was a little small but the staff is friendly and the roof deck for breakfast is great. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Florence.
