This was a pleasant hotel to stay in, about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento. We only stayed in Sorrento so we could access the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. It was a bit pricey. If you want a full sea view you pay quite a bit extra and the hotel charges 12 euros a night to park your car (street parking is not really available). The views were good from the fifth floor rooms (we opted for the premium rooms to get the sea views) but the balcony is not very private. Your neighbours can look into your room and anyone on the roof terrace can look down onto your balcony (and drop cigarette ash and food over!). Breakfast was included and very nice. The service was okay, not outstandingly friendly. One of our biggest criticisms was that the pool staff on the terrace were never present so you usually couldn't get a towel or a drink. While Sorrento didn't do much for us, it's a bit touristy and expensive, if we were returning to Sorrento, we would stay in this hotel again.

Fantastic location, staff, food, facilities, room. Best hotel out of the five hotels that I stayed while in Italy for 17 days. Highly recommended!

We rented a room with one queen and one twin bed. It was big enough to accomodate all of us (3) and the room was very clean. Additionally, the breakfast was great! The only draw back...there are two pools - one on the roof top and one in the garden. Both are not big, but the roof top one was a like a large hot tub size. We chose to swim in the garden pool and it was fine. All in all, we would stay there again.

I and my husband stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2009. We were very happy with the entire experience. The staff that greeted us and took care of us during our stay were extremely professional, friendly and accomodating. The first morning we slept too late and missed the breakfast with half an hour so the buffet was pretty much cleared out; yet they still served us the breakfast by bringing us the coffee and tea as well as bread, ham, cheeses and such directly to our table. That I call service! The room was very bright and clean. It was also very large with plenty of room for our clothes - the bathroom likewise. We had a nice balcony with view over the ocean. We specially loved the beautiful garden where we had the breakfast in the morning and evening drinks when returning in the evening. The location was perfect. Everything was withing walking distance. We can definately recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have an enjoyable stay in the gorgeous city of Sorrento.

The staff at the Grand de la Ville could not have been nicer or done more to help us. We initially were in a small double and needed to change to a triple and they went out of their way to ensure we got sorted. Anything we had an issue with they were so incredibly attentive.

perfect location, close walk to train station and direct bus to naples airport. only complaint is that bar and minibar prices are waaay to high. Do not drink at the hotel. there are many stores within a block to get sodas, water or wine.

This is a beautiful hotel located on a quiet street, yet only about a five to ten minute leisurely walk to the center of Sorrento. Staff is very friendly and speaks English. The breakfast is assorted pastries, lunch meats and cheeses, as well as cereals, including a hot station. Use the champaign to make yourself a Mimosa. Entering the hotel you walk in on marble flooring. The bedrooms are large, clean and have Italian tile with beautiful designs. The bath rooms are beautiful as well. Go to the sixth floor, swim and lounge. The view is great across the Bay of Naples. Go up for the sunset and take some pictures, I did. We all, four of us, loved the hotel and would return in a heart beat.

We were never informed there would be a parking fee each night. We checked out and nothing was said. As we were leaving then the lady grabs us to tell us there is a fee for parking they did not charge us! We did not feel that was professional.

from the reception desk to the dining room on up to the rooms this hotel says class, elegance, style and beauty.the service and effiency of the staff is perfection..the decor everywhere so pleasing to the eye. i enjoyed every moment of my stay here and would return again and again.the small jaccusi pool on the roof and sunbed area was really relaxing and the tables and chairs shaded by huge umbrellas were an oasis of calm to read your book or just look out over the beautiful bay of sorrento...

Lovely hotel in a very good quiet location. Hotel decorated in a classic style. 5 minute walk to the square in Sorrento. Sea view room was large, with comfortable king size bed, flat screen tv with sky sports and a couple of movie channels, balcony, good size bathroom. (only one small complaint was the quality of the towels, they were a bit old). Good choice for breakfast, all the usual stuff plus bacon/eggs etc. Both pool areas were nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff were fantastic, friendly and respond to all your needs. Really nice area outside for breakfast, room was clean, nice and a really good TV with channels (if you need TV). Rooftop pool area is comfy and in June this was not crowded at all

Breakfast was limited and we didn't think it was too good in terms of quality. Rooms overlooking the courtyard are noisy from the kitchens in the morning. The bar and lounge area are somewhat limited and geared to older people.. everything stops at midnight!

One niggle was that the window in our room was in the corridor between the bedroom and bathroom, so although the room was fine for our two day stay it would have been unacceptable if we had stayed here for the whole week. Otherwise this hotel is everything one would expect from a hotel called The Grand Hotel De Ville.

Overall a good experince with the exception that we had no air conditioning for 3 of our 5 nights. Some of the front-desk staff were very willing to look into the matter and send help while one simply dismissed us.

Fantastic hotel just 5 minutes walk from Sorrento city centre. If you get a room at the front you will have a fantastic view over to Vesuve Vulcano. The rooms are big, elegant and newly decorated and kept very clean. The staff at the hotel are so welcoming and service-minded that you will feel you are staying at an hotel in Thailand rather than in Italy, beacause they are always smiling and very service-minded. Two very nice pool areas, one more for adults and one for children. Very nice breakfast-area outside. The only drawback is the food, it is ok, but nothing special, and to expensive for the quality, so eat in one of the nice reastaurants down town instead. Overall a very good hotel, good value for money!

A Superior Double Room, amit foglaltunk, nagyon kellemes volt, tágas, és tengerre néző. A hotel fekvése is nagyon kedvező, hiszen kb. 5 perc séta alatt elérhetőek a belvárosi sétáló utcák. A reggeli választákát még lehetne bővíteni, de összeségében elégedettek voltunk. Parkolni nem lehet a szálloda környékén, de van garázsuk (külön díjért), ahova csak a személyzet állhat be, de ez nem zavaró, ha az ember rászán plusz pár percet az indulásra.
