Best Western Hotel Spring House - Roma

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Staff was genial and helpful - breakfast was very good by American standards, never mind European. Eggs, sausage great juices and coffee as well as the usual continental offerings. A team of 3 keeps the breakfast room humming. Rooms look as if recently remodeled - very modern. Shower was a tight fit, however. The only hotel that ever offered first drink from the mini-bar free. The Vatican museum, a prime reason for a visit was located a block away. I recommend booking a "skip the line tour" for same, at least. Other sights such as Castel S.Angelo were an easy walk as was the "A" line Cipro station which made most other sights accessable - recommend the "Roma Pass" if staying 2 or 3 days (21euros).

We are a family of four. The rooms were spacious, especially for Europe and very clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Very close to the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. Close to a Metro station. Buffet breakfast has a variety of good items including fresh fruit, juice and milk. Room was small but functional. Free WiFi in rooms was convenient. We had a quad room, but one of the beds was basically a double-size sofa bed. Overall friendly staff. Right next to a market, which is difficult to find for a first-timer in Rome with no car. Elevator was small. One person should haul all luggages in the elevator, while others in the same party run up the stairs to meet the elevator. Bathroom was supplied well.

Overall an excellent hotel. Pros: Amazing breakfast, very helpful staff and extremely clean rooms. Location is very convenient as well, specially for the Vatican museums and Vatican itself. 5 minutes walk to the tube station. Great places to eat very close by. Cons: Walls are too thin, so you can hear every noise from the next room. AC controls are just on/off, the temperature is regulated centrally. Anyway, overall an excellent hotel, would definetly go back!

There was a wonderful breakfast included with our stay. The location was great- right outside the Vatican walls. The air conditioning wasn't very cold, but at least there was AC.

Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. Not the best location, but close to metro with easy access to Spanish Steps, etc.

Hotel was well located right outside Vatacin City but the area was dirty. Dead birds & rat in the street (Seriously) Trash every where. The shower was so small my husband could not turn around in it. The drain backed up and you had to turn the shower off or flood the bathroom. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The hotel Restaurant were microwaved meals by the bartender. Not what we were expecting :(

Nice hotel close to the Vatican. American breakfast and garage to park car made this hotel perfect for us.

Good location; very close to the Vatican. Excellent guest services...very willing to help us with all of our questions. They set up an excellent transfer for us to the airport (for 3 of us with all our luggage). Room size was adequate for the 3 of us. The only negative is that the room was warm (and it was May we were visiting); though we are probably used to a cooler environment than they are in Rome.

We arrived to rain on our first evening by taxi from the airport. Do not be fooled into thinking that the kind person waiting by the taxi rank and poaching the white cabs business is doing it for love & care of you. He will overcharge you by between 50-75% of what the white cab will charge. The hotel was clean & tidy the staff were attentive and spoke a variety of languages. Good for the British who on the whole only can manage "I do not speak...." in any other language. Be aware that the breakfasts at the hotel are good and you can have as much as you wish, however do not feel that this same quality is carried onto the hotel food menu. It says that the products on the menu are frozen... I naturally assumed that they were cooked before serving.... I was wrong we ordered three meals at the bar, and they arrived fifteen minutes later.... still frozen, they are microwaved meals do not expect anything nutritious or pleasant. The hotl is close to the vatican and it is only a short walk to the metro.

I recently stayed at The Spring House and was very satisfied. When I checked in, my confirmation stated I had a Superior Double room. Upon getting to the room it had one twin bed. I went to the front desk and questioned the Superior Double status. Alberto the great front desk rep stated Superior meant you can take anything you wanted from the mini frig. I advised I needed a second bed. The hotel was full that evening and we were sort of cramped in the smaller room. He committed to changing my room the second night. We left for our tour of Rome the next morning and upon return we were presented with our new key. We got to the room and were more then impressed. It had a small couch, 2 beds and plenty of room to walk around. I commend Alberto for taking care of what he had committed to. I would stay here again.

If you're not looking to pay too much to stay in Rome, this hotel is a pretty good deal. It's right on the tip end of the city, near the Cipro Metro stop so you have very easy access to whereever. Buses are all around too, and it's about a 3 minute walk to the Vatican! So, good hotel, clean, comfortable and the staff was very nice and helpful.

We were traveling with an infant and we arrived at the hotel quite early. Although we were not able to get our room, Daniel, at the front desk, was very accomodating. He provided a map and highlighted several areas of interest (very helpful). After a short rest, we went to the Vatican Museum which is just a short walk away. The breakfast doesn't have a huge selection and the breakfast area is small, but it should meet your needs. There is also a small grocery store just next door. Overall, we were quite happy with our stay. Note that when you leave the hotel, the staff requests that you leave your key at the desk for safety reason.

Small comfortable rooms typical of all european cities. Tea and coffee in room with free mini bar, if you upgrade. 10 min walk from the Vatican, so you can beat the queues. 5 min walk from the metro. Excellent service and friendly multi-lingual staff. Good breakfast and small and cosy bar with cheap but good food. Room service at no extra cost. I would definitely book again.

the staff here are most helpfull,the hotel is spotless although the shower is on the small side.the hotel is in a good area perfect to visit the Vatician and museum

The staff are all young, kind and friendly. Everyone is very helpful and ready with maps and hints on how to get around the city. The room and bath had all the amenities as well as being modern and clean with a colorful decor.

The hotel staff spoke English, were pleasant, helpful and friendly. The quality and choice of food at breakfast was excellent. The bedroom which would be fine for two people was a bit confined for three adults. The hotel was spotless but on pulling back the bedroom curtins I noticed mold along the wall. The bathroom was spacious and had a great powershower.The bedroom walls are a bit thin but it was not a problem, The location was very good with some decent restaurants and only a five minute walk from the Vatican muesum. I would visit this hotel again.

This was a great hotel. The staff were so helpful. Our room was clean and the breakfast was great. The only downside to this hotel was the beds were kind of hard - however, we found this common throughout Italy. I will stay there again!

OUTSTANDING HOTEL, BUT VERY SMALL SPACE, NO ROOM TO MOVE. SHOWER SPACE VERY SMALL TOO.

Not bad location wise but awful as far as neighborhood and surroundings, especially if you want the feel of being in Rome. It was like being in a run down part of town even though the price was uptown. Clean and neat and good service.

The room was small but clean. I understand that this is a renovated old structure. But well kept.

The staff at the hotel front desk was particularly nice and helpful. They took the time to make sure we had our needs met. Also, breakfast was great and the room was generally comfortable. The only problem was that we were four persons in one room which was not very large. I think a quadruple would really work best for a couple and two small children, not two bigger ones.

Our priorities were cleanliness; good transport links, and reasonable price. This hotel scored highly in each category. The staff were particularly helpful and pleasant.

Our room was quite large by European standards. Of course, being American, we could have done without the bidet in the bathroom. The breakfast included was sumptious by most standards and everything was at the right temperature. The dining facilities left a lot to be desired and there are not a lot of continental style restaurants nearby. Mostly spaghetti (very bland) and pizza restaurants. We did find a family restaurant which was recommended by the hotel and it was fabulous as well as the service being outstanding. We would stay here again if in Rome.

Stayed for a three night break in Rome. Friendly, helpful staff, good location and clean. The perfect choice, would definitely stay there again.

We went here as the reviews sounded pretty good for a two and a half star hotel. The place was v clean and tidy and the best part was the service - the staff went out of their way to attend to our needs, especially on the first morning when they produced gluten and dairy free options for us for breakfast - this was surprising and much appreciated as we were wondering how much we could find to eat in Rome. The only thing I would say is that the Vatican wall looms v nearby and it is a big of a trek to get round it to get into the city, but the tube line is close by and ten minutes takes you in. Very good value for money and great service!

The mattress were way too firm for me. So much that I had to pile 3 extra blankets that I found in the closet on top of the mattress just to be able to sleep. Other than that no complaints from anyone in my party. Very close to the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's. Not much in the way of nightlife around the neighborhood if that's what you're looking for. But there are a few great restaurants to be found, just ask at the front desk.

The location of the hotel is very good: near the Vaticano's Museum and also near a tube station (Otaviano). The hotel service and the breakfast are excellent.

The staff was very helpful and courteous. The rooms were neat and modern and there was a joining room option for a family with three kids. The breakfast was wonderful and the hostess very helpful. The hotel's location was very close to The Vatican and to a metro stop so transportation was great. I would stay here again. It was a wonderful find for such a great price.

I found all of the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was small by American standards but a little larger than European standards, this is not a complaint. It ideally located near the Vatican and a couple of blocks from the Metro station. I will stay there again the next time I am in Rome.

Wij reisen met een family en maakte gebruik van een family kamer. De kamer was klein maar de airco functionerde, en de bedden comfortable. Ontbijt was good en de locatie vooral naar de Vatican uitstekend. De kamer was schoon en se service vriendelijk.

Ci siamo trovati molto bene in questa struttura, sia per l'ubicazione che per il servizio. Stanza al di sopra delle nostre aspettative ( avevamo richiesto una quadrupla - coppia con figlie ) e ci hanno dato una suite su due piani con soppalco - buffet della colazione perfetto con ottimo servizio e vasta scelta per ogni gusto, compreso i prodotti per celiaci ed iintolleranti al lattosio!

Vi hadde en flott tur til Roma, der hotellet utgjorde "prikken over i'en" med flott service og fin beliggenhet. Koselig betjening, godt renhold og bra utvalg i frokostbuffeten. Nært metrostasjon og Vatikanet. Trygt og fint område rundt hotellet på kveldstid også. Anbefales!

L'albergo è vicinissimo ai Musei Vaticani e alla metropolitana, inoltre diversi autobus diretti verso il centro di Roma si fermano a un centinaio di metri dall'albergo. L'albergo è dotato di un ampio garage per chi arriva in auto. Il personale è gentilissimo e disponibile. La colazione è varia e complessivamente buona. Le camere sono un po' piccole, ma pulite. Unico neo demmia mia camera: una porta di divisione mi separava dalla camera accanto, le voci degli ospiti si sentivano distintamente e disturbavano parecchio. La via Mocenigo è piuttosto brutta, con edifici fatiscenti.

We where travelling two adults and two kids and booked a familly room. The room where actually two rooms normally with a door between them...this gave us two rather large rooms and plenty of space since we left the door between the rooms open all the time. Breakfast was good and the staff where friendly.

Perfect location for doing the Vatican touristing. Slightly off from the absoloute city center but very good communications by Metro/bus. Very servic minded and welcomming attitude. Great breakfast buffet! Big plus for garage in the basement. Nice details such as efficient aircon, free WiFi & free minibar (probably summer special) with sodas & snacks made the whole stay pleasant and convenient.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for four nights and we really loved it. We got to the hotel before the check-in time because the flight landed early and we didn't want to walk around with the bags. The staff at the reception desk told us that the room wasn't ready yet and offered us something to drink while we waited. Shortly after that they handed us our key and we could go to our room. It was a really nice and warm room, it had a big balcony which would had been perfect if we had stayed there when it was warmer. They had a minibar with different snacks and drinks and it was free of charge which we really liked. The breakfast buffet was also big and really good, they had different kind of bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, cakes, juice, yoghurt and a lot of other stuff. The staff there were really kind too and they all spoke english really well which was good because my italian isn't. And that it's so close to the vatican museum is a plus. There is just one thing we didn't like, it's a door they had between our room and the room next to us. We could hear our neighbours talk and sleep and that could be anoying when we wanted to relax. But apart from that it was a really nice stay. I wouldn't mind returning there.

Extremely kind and helpful staff made our stay problem-free and enjoyable. Not a fancy luxury hotel for status seekers but absolutely solid quality throughout. Clean, nice rooms with super comfortable bed linen. Breakfast excellent. Vatican Museum just around the corner, St. Peter's Square approx. 15 min walk. Metro station (Cipro) a few min walk.

Personalen var väldigt hjälpsam, rummen var rena och fina. De blev städade varje morgon.Badrummet var stort och rymligt. Utsikten från balkongen var mycket trevlig. Hotellet låg ca 350 m från Metron. Hit återvänder jag gärna igen.

het bed was bijzonder hard, de pizza kwam na 50 minuten en voor minimaal 25% aangebrand (niet te eten) en wij zijn echt niet zo moeilijk. Heel positief is dat de inhoud van de koelkast gratis is, maar dat werd pas bij vertrek gemeld. De koelkast was overigens kapot. Nadat we hadden gemeld dat we geen tweede dag bleven kregen we een andere kamen die een wel ok was, ook de koelkast werkte en het bed was zachter.
