I recently stayed there in August, which is a veryyy hot month. The AC on and off button is controlled by the front desk but once we asked them to turn it on, it stayed on until we left the hotel room. One male staff member went above and beyond - he found us a converter when ours broke, really took his time in answering our questions and best of all was so nice!! One male staff member was unpleasant but the nice one made up for it. There is free internet!! Which itself makes it a great hotel because there are no english channels. Breakfast was good but NO free boat ride to Murano.

We really liked this hotel. Don't be dissuaded by it's location near the "Jewish Ghetto"...as it is actually in a great location! There are vendors right in front and it is a short 10 min walk (with bags) from the train station. The staff was very helpful and they maintained a very clean hotel. There is a water-bus point just outside the hotel and many, many restaurants in the surrounding area. There is no lift and all rooms start on the second floor, but for those capable - we highly recommend this hotel. Cheers!

Dated room. No English TV channels. The only upside was the location somewhat close to the train station. I paid a lot less at another hotel in Venice which was so much nicer!!

Our room was on a lower floor, so we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was satisfactory. The location was great because we were close enough to action, but still had a quiet room. A great experience. We would gladly return!

This hotel is in a good location for accessing all areas of Venice. Beware the church bells that ring every half hour though, not for light sleepers who want to sleep late.

there were two doors to the hotel, one led to nothing..was a bit confusing. room was ok, though pretty ugly. i did like that they had free wifi which was usable in our room. i came out for breakfast about 5 minutes late and even though all the stuff was still out, she wouldnt let me take anything... other than that, this was the only one of 4 hotels we stayed in on our travels that actually had a working AC. thank god.

Definitly convenient location - within walking distance of the train station. Nice and helpful staff. Tiny rooms in odd locations; ours was located right off a lobby. Our double room was very small but clean. The bathroom was actually one of the better ones in our travels through Italy - it was sizable with a real bathtub/shower and even a medicine cabinet to store our toiletries. And they did serve us more than one cup of coffee at breakfast despite what others have written in reviews! Worth it overall.

Very nice Hotel. Comfertable and clean. On a lovely street with lots of restaurants, bars, cafe's, shops and stalls. Internet cafe next door which is very handy. Excellent location.. If coming from Marco Polo get the water bus go Guile, the second stop. its 100 meters from that stop. If coming from train or road bus its 20 minute walk. Highly recommed this hotel.

Very easy to find, less than 10 minutes' walk from the train station; nice neighborhood with fruit/vegetable market right outside, small grocery stores/delicatessens and family-style restaurants and pizzerie close by, and an internet spot just a couple of doors down; very attentive staff; convenient connections to vaporetti (both #41 and #51 stop right at the Guglie bridge; #1 and #2 stop at San Marcuola -- just a couple of blocks behind the hotel on the Grand Canal). The private water taxi ride to Murano, with tour of a glass-making facility, all included in the cost of our room, was an especially nice extra touch. Drawbacks: the reception desk is up 2 flights of stairs with no elevator, and the room was a bit small by American standards. But the details were nice -- handmade glass lighting fixtures, fabric-covered walls, family-style furnishings, and the staff was eager to help us up and down the stairs with luggage. Breakfast was good, too. For those interested in the Jewish history of the city, Hotel Alle Guglie is just around the corner from the original gated entrance to the Ghetto, with traditional pastry shops and an excellent restaurant that brings together Jewish and Venetian cuisines in interesting and delicious ways (Gam-Gam's). There's also a touching Holocaust memorial in the main square inside the Ghetto.

The Hotel Alle Guglie was a short 5 minute walk from the main train station in Venice. The service was fantastic, the hotel was clean, and the room was very nice. Overall this is a great hotel and a good value for the price. The only negative point that I would make is that the door to our room was literally in the middle of the breakfast area so in the morning when you open the door to your room you have tables of people eating breakfast all around you. It was a little weird to open the door and then be in the middle of the breakfast room with everyone able to see right inside your hotel room. Also, the breakfast did not include any meats so you only had a very small selection of bread, cereal, and yogurt to choose from. Other than that, the hotel was perfect for our needs. It is centrally located and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Hotel was clean and friendly. Facilities basic although we were lucky enough to have a front room with a balcony overlooking the busy street below which was entertaining in itself. Feel the hotel could have been more accommodating with information about the area. Breakfast basic although adequate. Would go back to this hotel providing we got a front view room.

This hotel is within walking distance from the train station and easy to find. Though situated in a busy area, the room itself was quiet and restful. There was great shopping nearby including vegetable and fruit stands right outside the door. The young lady (neglected to get her name)who checked us in and worked from 16:00 spoke excellent English and was most pleasant and helpful. Whereas the gentleman who worked the day shift seemed impatient and less friendly. One negative was that the rooms had actual keys which had to be left at the desk everytime we left the hotel. All in all we had a pleasant stay.

The hotel is close to the metro station and no more than 6 minutes walk away. At the time we check the attendad/owner directed us to our rooms...no elevator...after carrying our luggage we tried to start the AC unit and after waiting and waiting we called the front desk and the same "gentlemen" answered us stating that he will check the unit latter, well...the hours went by and no answer I had to go down and up again to talk to him and after he checked the room he stated that it was just fine...I told him that I was calling hotel.com and he promissed to do something as soon as possible. I stayed two days in an oven, I had to buy my own fan because the room temperature was higher that outside the hotel....After two days I got another room. I will never go back there again.

Our room was so high up, the staircase was narrow, and the place didn't have an elevator. It was difficult to bring up all our luggage. The people were nice, but not overly nice like we expected. The bathroom sink was clogged, which caused a smell and some backup to come up every time we used it. We didn't use it much (we used the shower hose instead) because the sink just barely sprinkled water. The shower was tiny... my husband and I are not big people at all (he is 175 lbs, and I am 115 lbs), and each ios us barely fit in the shower. The air conditioning barley worked - after coming in from a long day of sightseeing, we expected a nice, refreshing, air conditioned room, but were extremely disappointed (we sweated more in the room than we did outside). It was also very difficult to sleep at night due to the hotness. The breakfast was disappointing... we left and went out for breakfast on our own.

bathroom was smaller than the one in our cabin on the Costa Victoria. No elevator made rooms on 4th and 5th floor difficult to get to. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The hotel was close to the train station, the bus station and water transportation. This is not about the hotel but the area. Skip the gondola rides; my neice and her husband paid $100 for a 15 minute ride. Also, get the price of everything before you buy. I ended paying 5 euros for a can of coke and 8 euros for a bottle of beer.

The Hotel Alle Guglie is conveniently located not far from the railway station and on the way to Rialto and S.Marco. It is also easy to find. Tne room we were given was not large, but very clean and nicely furnished, clearly recently renovated (the bathroom was brand new). We spent only one night and did not have any special needs, but we noticed that the staff at the reception desk and the waitress at brekfast were very kind and friendly. I'll certanly keep it in mind for my next visit to Venice.
