HOTEL BELAIR - Sorrento

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. Monica was particularly kind and helpful. My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout Italy and the Bel Air was one of the best experiences we have had. The price was not cheap but well worth the money. Parking and breakfast were included which is a rare. Also the breakfast was very nice with much more than the usual fare, including champagne. Very clean pool and spectacular views. We would definitely stay again.

Thumbs UP: A beautiful view high atop hill. Rooms are BIG, clean and well decorated for Italy (4 or 5 star rooms and view). Buffet breakfast was A+, . breads, pastries, cereals, salmon and yogurt. (no eggs or bacon). A great get away. Thumbs Down: Room service menu was not kept in room, although rooms service available. Pool was not heated in late May.(Pool temp 78 deg F). Clientele seemed to be mostly old English upper middle class and a few newlyweds. A difficult walk to and from town due to the cliffside location. Nightly dining and bar entertainment(singing and or piano) rather novice and untrained.

We loved this hotel! They have the most friendly staff of the 4 hotels we stayed in Italy. The breakfast was nice and had a beautiful balcony to enjoy it on. It was a reasonable distance to walk into town, but the walk was a little scary. It was right by the main road with cars driving right by us. I would recommend driving into town. Other than that it was beautiful, friendly, roomy and I would stay there again!

We took a chance on this hotel for a late Oct vacation and had a great time. It was very quiet, but the staff was wonderful. For the price, this was a gem. The view from our room was beautiful and the full breakfast that was included was a great way to start the day. Have the hot chocolate! It is a bit of a cab ride from the train station and a hilly walk into town, but we decided to stay another day instead of moving to Positano, which was just a bus ride away.

This is an excellent 3 star hotel. A 10 minute walk downhill to Sorrento and a bus stop immediately outside, which we used all the time. The staff at this hotel are exceptional. They made us feel at home immediately upon arrival and couldn't do enough for us during our stay, without being overbearing. The views are magnificent across the bay to Mt Vesuvius and of Sorrento itself. We spent many hours simply sitting on our balcony watching the cruise ships and comings and goings in the two harbours. The Porto Grande below the hotel is great for some authentic Italian charm, whilst Sorrento retains that Italian culture and charm, even with all the tourists! The only downside for us to the hotel is that it is mainly brits that stay there on Thomson holidays, although the plus side is that there is plenty of parking. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is situated in a beautiful location but one which is not convenient for the centre of Sorrento and the harbour. Buses do stop at the door but they tend to be full and the drivers are unhelful to the point of rudeness! Catching a bus back was very difficult. We gave up in the end.The hotel staff said there was a fixed price for taxis but we found another 2 euros was added. 12 Euros to the harbour. Otherwise you one cannot fault the hotel. The cuisine and decor are exceptional.

unbeatable position overlooking sorrento bay. all rooms have seaview balcony or terrace. roughly 20 mins brisk walk from piazza tasso, a nice distance from the tooting cars. allocated a less than luxurious room 213 initially, with no hair dryer, dodgy electrics and noisy drainage from above. following a complaint we moved to 108 which was much improved. restaurant is on the top floor so level 1 rooms are directly below, watch out for noisy furniture from 7am. nice pool and terraced areas with awesome views. did not dine in hotel in the evening, so cannot comment on food quality, menu looked very good though. breakfast fairly standard buffet style, but you have to ask for anything hot, poached egg etc. superb terrace dining area overlooking the bay, vesuvius etc. hotel beautifully peaceful at this time of year (Late April). rather pricey, but the location easily justifies the extra.
