We booked it for it's location and the ability to put a family of 4 into a single suite. It is 40 meters from St. Mark's Square, and we stayed in a very nice 2-room suite that featured a very alrge bathroom with a full tub. No surprises! It was easy to find, if you follow these directions: Pass straight thru the clocktower archway and walk 40-meters, then turn left. (It's the second possible left you can make). Walk to the very end of that street (it ends in a small canal), and the reception desk is located at the last door on the left. Hint: Look at the hanging lamps on the street. See?...they have the name of the hotel on them! Our suite was very clean and well-appointed, featuring a small kitchen (sink, microwave, double-burner stove, refrigerator). The air conditioning was adequate during our stay, which had unseasonably warm weather (mid-80's) for May. It also had two balconies, with tables/chairs. The balconies had a nice view of the famed clock and bell the hotel is named for. The staff was very helpful throughout our stay, including personally leading us to the breakfast area, which is in another hotel owned by the same group. The breakfast was "adequate" with our biggest complaint being the single coffee dispenser, which caused bottlenecks for the folks waiting for "go juice". The area is "touristy", which is why we were in Venice. A pleasant 10-minute walk puts you in quieter, non-toursity areas of the city.

A very nice base for family visit to Venice, 50 meters from San Marco square, clean, good service. the rooms not very large, but well equipped and comfortable. To find the place, from San Marco pass under the Torre del Orologio and take second turn on the left.

We really enjoyed hotel. Nice breakfast, convenient, very clean. It was VERY difficult to find since we hadn't gotten directions ahead of time. We came in on public transportation which was really easy from train station, but then there was noone around to ask for directions and hotel was on some unmarked side street. That was our only problem. Otherwise highly recommend. We chose because we needed to sleep 4 people and the suite was beautiful. Avoid "free" murano glass tour unless you plan on buying something. Most items very expensive ($1,000+). Tell sales person upfront you only can afford small item and he'll take you to last room with less expensive items ($100).
