For this hotel the most important thing to remember is that you are getting good value for money. You are fairly close to the city centre and the hotel provides good and friendly service, clean rooms, very reasonable comfort and a very nice breakfast room. Only negative point I can think of is the hotel car park which is just a plot behind the hotel. There is no security and no quick access into the hotel. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

We booked this hotel because we needed a spot close to the train station. Though not the closest hotel, it was well within walking distance. Also close to the tram, it is two stops from the train station and two stops from the Mirabel Gardens. All staff encountered spoke English, provided spot on directions, and were helpful. The rooms weren't horrible. Typical to most hotels, the room was smallish and there was no A/C, just a window you can open, so you'll hear the sirens.

This clean, business-like hotel was an excellent choice to stay in Salzburg. It had good in-room amenities such as free internet, a tv and haridryer. It's located an easy 5 minute walk away from the main train station. The old town with it's many tourist attractions is a pleasant 15 minute stroll away along the river front. We requested a non-street room when we got there and this was quiet at night even with the windows open. The breakfast seemed a bit expensive at 11 euros so we didn't try it but there are a couple of good bakeries nearby. All in all great value if you don't mind not being right next to the old town, we're very pleased we stayed there.

I stayed a total of 7 nights. 4 at the front of my journey and 3 at the end. I was able to check in early after a long flight from the U.S. and a layover in Frankfurt. My room was a Queen (two twins pushed together) but quite spacious. Reading the other entries on the sight I can see why you would not want a room on street level or in the front, however, mine was overlooking the courtyard and on the 4th floor then 3rd floor. Staff were very accomodating and friendly (Thank you, May!) The location looks deceiving but it is actually very well located to the train, river, riverwalk, short distance to downtown, and right next to 2 bustops (very simple bus system), and I have to saythe BEST italian restaurant I have ever eaten in right next door, Toscanas'. (sad, because I spent 11 days in Italy and found better food in Salzburg). The room was clean and the price was well worth it. Best hotel I stayed at on my entire trip in Europe for 2009. (...and the cheapest!)

The rooms are a little Spartan, but comfortable enough. This hotel doesn't have a luggage room, it is still possible to leave your big bags after checking out so you can go exploring - but they are left out in the lobby...the lobby desk is attended, but it's still not as secure as a locked room.

I arrived via train and found the hotel easilly after a little wandering around. The entrance is very small and very concealed and is easilly missed, its simply a door and a window with a very scruffy wall painted name outside. Engish is spoken at the hotel and the general level of service was good. Breakfast was a complete rip off and is simply a buffet style meal with the basics you would expect. The bedroom I booked was a double and I got 2 single beds pushed together, with a very poor pillow on each. The curtains didnt pull across and noise from the courtyard outside was loud, very early. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk out of the old town so if you dont like walking, best not stay here unless you plan on taxis. The is a very average 3 star hotel in my opinion that offers a good price. All depends what you are looking for. As I live in Munich I will be returning to Salzburg frequently, but I will not be staying here again.

10 minutes from railway station and near to town with direct bus to airport (4 km away). Stayed on the 6th level (highest) and was not too noisy altho it was facing main room. Lower floors may be different. Reception counter was helpful with info and you can also book day tours through them. Room was spacious with TV and the toilet with bath was pristine clean. Definitely recommended if you're looking for somewhere affordable, nice and convenient. Eating places nearby and also a supermarket.

This small hotel should be advertised as a 3 stars one (compared to proper 4 stars hotels). The only turn offs: double room has two single beds together and the pillows were flat as pancakes.

Walking distance to the train station and close to the River. Nice walk along the river to the old town (tho cold in the winter). We had two rooms - one on the street that had only a shower, and a second overlooking the courtyard, which was much larger and had a full bath. Preferred the interior room.

The Belmondo was a great value for money hotel. The rooms were modern and very clean and the staff were really helpful and friendly. After reading reviews about the hotel before we left for Salzburg, we rang and requested a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking the courtyard, as the road at the front is very busy and noisy. Although it is not ideally situated for the old town (about a fifteen minute walk) I would use this hotel again, and the Italian restaurant situated right next door served the best lasagne I have ever tasted.

Check in time wasn't until 3pm, but we arrived at 10am, and they were able to give us our room straightaway. Short 15 min walk along the river into the Old Town. Can be a bit noisy at night as it is on the main hight street, but that is what makes it so easy to find & get around. Definately recommend, and would go back again if visiting Salzburg.

When you are making a reservation for a 4 Star Hotel you have certain expectations. Belmonto Hotel can be classified as a 2 Star hotel: no one on duty between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM; no lobby; no room to leave your luggage; if you lock yourself out( your card/key does not work) between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM you will need to call a TAXI Company for help; room a tiny; No A/C, Shower cabin is so small that an average size person would not be able to turn around; no quality restaurants in the area.

We stayed 2 nights here. It was a good hotel with very helpful staff and a good breakfast for the price (10 euro/person). The only thing we would recommend is to ask for a room away from the street as the street is one of the major thoroughfares across the river and is therefore very busy, leading to quite a bit of traffic noise into a first floor room on the street at night. No worries, though, we were pleased and would stay at the Belmondo again.

Rooms are decent, staff friendly, near the train station. Salzburg is not cheap to stay in, which is the reason why I MIGHT stay here again, but as others mentioned it is a bit of a hike to the tourist areas and the beds are hard. Principle complaint was the afterhours club we discovered operates nearby on Saturday nights (our second night of stay). Didn't get a wink of sleep. Movie theatre next door and a grocery down the street. Lobby (and internet kiosk) locked out until 6am, so make your arrangements the night before if needing to make an early train/flight.

After booking my stay at the Hotel Belmondo I read some of the reviews. I wasn't unduly concerned by the mixed reviews as I have read mixed reviews on other hotels and found them to be fine. However, I would pay attention to the comments that the rooms at the front of th hotel are noisy and that the rooms get very hot. I would also agree that the breakfast is not very good value for money. If you turn left out of the hotel, about 5 mins on the right is a 'Billa'. Downstairs there is a cafe serving breakfast - the breakfast that is just over 3 EURO is comparable to what you'd get in the hotel for 10. However, this review would not be complete without mentionin the staff. I found them all to be charming, friendly and very helpful. Knowing they were on hand really made a difference to our trip. The hotel is clean and functional but the rooms aren't the best for lounging around in, whoch didn't matter to us as we were there to see Slazburg! If you can stay in a hotel in the old town, I would probably recommend you try. However, if the hotel Belmondo is the best fit for your budget then I think it is a reasonable hotel to stay in.

The Belmondo hotel is located near the river and about 5 blocks North of the central part of town. It is difficult to find parking. The hotel has a nice restaurant with Italian food. The front desk is manned from around 7am to 11pm. They have a lockable fridge they will let you store milk, etc in. It was the cheapest "OK" hotel we could find in Salzburg (and that was all we needed...a place to sleep). The room was hot and if you stay on the side nearest the road it is noisy with the windows open. Use their fan.

We arrived at the hotel after lunch and were able to check in, but not get into the room and were able to leave our bags in reception. When we returned we were handed key and had to carry our bags up 5 floors to the worlds smallest double room! The stairs reminded me of a tower block with concrete floors and plastic covered metal railings looking through flithy windows to traffic. The bed was not more than ten inches off the floor (I have slept on deeper sleeping bags!) and was situated between an extremely noisy and busy main road and and extremely busy and noisy breakfast area, so our dawn chorus was not pleasant. The windows had to remain shut because of the noise, and the fan they provided because of this was almost in your lap because of the smallness of the room. There were no towels provided, and when we rang down to tell them, they told us to go down and fetch them ourselves. The attention to detail was poor with the classic ingrained soap scum and dirt in the bathroom spread around rather than removed. The outside of the hotel was filthy and did strike me as the sort of place that should have a red light and a sign offering rooms by the hour, but on the positive side it was well located for the river and the station, and because the room was so depressing it did encourage us to spend more time out exploring Salzburg. Extremely bad value for money. I would have expected and got better quality in a hostel for arounf 25% of the cost.

Just had a very enjoyable stay in Salzburg at the Belmondo, a small modern hotel with limited facilities. There is no bar and only a small reception area with restricted opening hours(6a.m. until 23.p.m). Situated on a busy, noisy main road, but we had room 410 at the back which was fine for sleeping although not the best view! Very comfortable room but the pillows were terrible and only 3 coathangers in the double wardrobe.Asked for more and given another 3, considering they were selling them across the road for a euro each in the "pound shop" no need to be so mean with them! Others reviews have said the breakfast at 10 euros is expensive, i don't know where these people were eating in Salzburg but we were paying 3 euros for a coffee or orange juice elsewhere, so unlimited drinks and a continental breakfast with cereal was a bargain at 10 euros!
