Petit Palace Tres Cruces - Madrid

We stayed in the Petit Palace Tres Cruces Centro from 13th to 17th March. The location is excellent - only steps away from shops, restaurants and the Puerto Del Sol. The hotel itself would be best described as functional. The rooms are basic - no extra pillows or blankets and only one English channel (CNN) on the TV, not much in the way of storage or mirrors. The bathroom and shower were excellent, but the door is of smoked glass, so be sure you're close with your companions before you travel!! Overall, it's a hotel for sleeping in and not much else.

The triple room was just big enough to fit 3 beds - there was no room to walk around or put your suitcase and there was no bedside table, only a child sized desk. They turn off the air-conditioning on Oct. 1 so the room was like a sauna. There is a bar across the street and the patrons stood out on the street and partied up so there was no sleeping to be done. We were moved to a room that was a bit larger and on the quieter side of the hotel - for a fee. The rooms were clean but the comfort level was not much more than what a hostel would provide.

This hotel is conveniently located on the same block as the Gran Via Metro station. Free internet access in the lobby is great. The rooms are small, as typical for European hotels. The mattresses are not very comfortable, however.

LOCATION: The location was quite convenient in the city center next to the Gran Via metro station, and a 10 min walk to Plaza Santa Cruz and Puerta Del Sol which are also shopping and bar/club hubs. All the shops on Gran Via plus Pull and Bear clothing are around Puerta Del Sol. From the hotel it was also a 15 min walk to Plaza Mayor and Museo Prado, and about 25 min to the Cathedral and Palacio Real. The next street over was full of prostitutes at night but there was plenty of police around to "watch over." I guess it's legal? We walked in this street and it was busy all night, it was pretty safe. Just make sure to not go into streets where there aren't crowds walking (as mugging may occur). Check out the smaller streets across from the hotel, some nice local bar/restaurants such as Costello lounge and Gilda restaurant. ROOMS: The triple room (two twins stuck toghether + an extra bed) was tight for 3 people; the extra bed was short for me and I am only 5'5''. The mattress wasn't good at all either. It dipped in the middle-too soft. The family room for 4 people would have been good for 3 of us but they changed our room after one night. With the window open to Tres Cruces the street was noisy at night all the way to the wee hours of the morning but we shut them at night and they were sound proof. STAFF: The staff were friendly and spoke good English. AMENITIES: The rooms were clean. Living up to its name (High Tech Hotels-Petit Palace) the hotel provided free internet access on the laptops in lobby(don't take it for granted in Spain!). They also provided free bicycle rentals. But it was quite difficult to navigate our way on the street with crowds to the Museo Prado. The key to the room didn't work half the time, even when we just picked it up after check in and we had to go to lobby for re-magnitizing. They told us just to try it 4 or 5 times and it should work, and it did. I experienced this in every hotel in Spain. The only drawback is the price for a 3 star hotel

The room was great and had an awesome shower. The hotel is close to the main shopping area and to the "Sol" metro station. We walked everywhere. THe only thing I would say is that they did not warn us that the breakfast was not included. It is 9 euro per person. Make sure you ask. We were charged on the the last day. We had thought it was included.

This hotel was walking distance to major subway stops and prime shopping and dining. The price was great for the hotel. Very modern! The actual street it is on is small and a little smelly, but the location and how close it was to major sites surpassed that little detail.

Location was great for this hotel. Very modern without the modern price. Clean and convenient. Would definitely recommend this hotel if looking for lower price but comforts of a nicer hotel.

the location was excellent , walking distance to most sights , food and shopping and of course, the subway system. The breakfast for 8,50 euros was an excellent value and such a good spread, compared to our other more expensive breakfast package in barcelona and paris. the room and beds were comfortable and quite spacious considering we were in a triplet. Also this hotel was one of the few offering a triplet which was good. i will stay here again and in fact recommended it to office mates already

camera tripla di dimensioni tali da non poterci camminare (3 letti singoli affiancati con necessità di scavalcare i primi 2 per andare sul terzo). Ho impiegato 3 giorni a convincerli di darmi 3 cuscini avendo 3 letti. Moquette molto sporca.

Vi var i Madrid tre dagar och upplevde valet av hotell som perfekt då läget var det viktigaste för oss eftersom vi ville kunna gå till alla sevärdheter. Vi var tre som delade ett dubbelrum, och det var rummet ABSOLUT inte dimensionert för. Max 2 får plats i ett dubbelrum! Trevli frukostmiljö, och varierad fräsch frukost.

Hotellet var väldigt modernt, fräsht och rent. Trots att det låg mitt i centrum (vid gran via) så hörde man inte trafiken. Det fanns två datorer mer intérnet vid lobbyn som man kunde använda kostnadsfritt. Rekommenderas varmt!

Posizione molto centrale e comodissima a Metro (100 m da stazione Gran Via). Avevamo la camera famigliare (eravamo in 4) che risulta avere spazi ridotti ad eccezione del bagno decisamente grande, ma ciò non ci ha creato problemi, in fondo in albergo ci si lava e si dorme. Livello di pulizia più che sufficiente. Disponibili gratuitamente PC con collegamento internet nella hall. Non abbiamo usufruito del servizio di colazione (9 eur. + iva a persona ci sembravano troppi).

Prima hotel: goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding, midden in het centrum, bij de Gran Via maar toch lekker rustig.Heerlijke badkamer om te relaxen na een dag ronddwalen door deze mooie stad. Dames van de schoonmaak praten wel wat hard als je probeert uit te slapen: maar in deze stad moet je zo min mogelijk slapen.

Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt Super-Ausstattung im Bad. Mein Interesse wurde geweckt für diese sog. highTechHotels, ich bin sehr daran interessiert für meine künftigen Städtereisen
