Citea Carcassonne - Carcasona

Fine location, ideally placed at the bottom of the walls for the old city where there were numerous resteraunts. Ten minute walk to new town.

Good situation, next to old city.

Stayed in the Citea Barbacane in july for 2 nights. The hotel is clean, minimalistic and very convenient for visiting the medieval city(few mins walk but a steep climb)Adequate space for family of 4 in the 1 bed apt.Kitchen corner with 2 ring hob suitable for cooking breakfast or lunch but not dinner.Air- con could have been cooler.Very clean apt, fresh towels daily. Rooms have no balcony or terrace but there is a communal terrace with tables and chairs.Breakfast can be booked if required.No bar facilities. Pleasant and helpful reception staff. Ideal if you intend to eat out and just use the hotel as a base as we did.No check in between 12 and 2pm on sat and sun.

Kitchen in the room was very useful as fridge allowed us to stock up on french wine and cheese. Location was very good - close enough to both La Cité and the new town to visit either easily.

This was a great hotel, terrific value. Huge rooms with well-equipped kitchens and a very friendly staff. Great place for a cost-conscious traveler, because of the great location, reasonable rates and very nice rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only negatives are the breakfast - just not worth it at 10 euros a day, but since you get a great kitchen and the boulangerie is a two-minute walk, who cares? Also, the bed was a little hard, but maybe I have been spoiled by my overly-soft american bed!!

Second time staying here, the problem with the unattended reception seems to be a thing of the past, receptionist was available all day. This location is not only handy for visiting La Cite but is also good if you are driving as it provides easy access to the ring road and motorways. It saves you having to drive through town which can be busy. The only complaint I have would the spartan nature of the apartments, the cooking area is not overly equipped.

We stayed at the Citea apartment / hotel in Carcassonne, November 2008. The accommodation is in a fantastic location, sandwiched between the picturesque river Aude and the mediaeval city. We arrived early morning and took the shuttle bus from the airport (5euro each and the nearest stop is the dome). We found everything to be within walking distance, however if you have mobility issues be warned, as there is lots of uneven cobbled streets and steep inclines! We got to the hotel early and were grateful we could check in, the reception staff are most welcoming and helpful and spoke excellent English! The room was large enough for the two of us, with a comfortable double bed, kitchenette, and bathroom. It was very clean but quite basic. There is a safe in the room, and when reception is closed there is separate access through a side door with a code. We felt very safe and secure. Breakfast is extra but we just got pastries from the bakery down the road (5min walk) The mediaeval city is so close; a quick walk finds you in the ramparts. A walk along the river into the main town is very relaxing - just watch out for dog poo! And don’t miss the market in the Place Carnot, the sounds and smells and fresh produce are amazing and there's lots of nice food to try and buy. We had a fabulous weekend in Carcassonne, I'd definitely recommend anyone visit this charming city and if you want clean self-catering accommodation the Citea could well be for you.

The duty receptionist had no knowledge of local restaurants, having not experienced any of them and therefore was unable to reccomend a suitable dinning and a communication breakdown on inccorrect information, as the fact that the medievil city was not closed at 7pm just the inner castle therefore we would have been able to dine there on our first night. The hotel overview was good, however local tax should hav been flagged up at the time of resevation, as when checking in there would be no last minite suprises on cost.

The location of the hotel was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. Our only criticism was that the apartment was very sparcly furnished and rather clinical. There were few pictures on the walls and very little comfortable furniture where one could relax. If this were improved it would be very good. The buffet breakfast in the hotel is good.

Central and very friendly and helpful staff

We had a lovely stay. The hotel made our visit to Carcassonne even more pleasant. I t is situated on to foot of La Cite the world heritage site, where we dined to the best of french cuisine every night. The hotel rooms were in excellent condition, Air conditioning, TV with plenty of channels, fridge, electric ring microwave, sheets were changed every few days . The room itself was cleaned every morning. The one thing I did miss was not being able to have a shower. The bathroom had a bath only with no facility to hook up the shower hose on the wall. Storage was a bit limited in wardrobe, but we managed. overall very good service. I would definately go back

The hotel has a perfect position to visit Carcassonne by car, plenty of parking and short walk to the walled city. It is true that it is difficult to find, we found it because we recognized the hotel by the picture. The rooms are small and very, very basic but for two nights is fine.

Loved it! Was a little more expensive that we usually pay but a good price for Carcassonne and we definitely feel we got our money's worth. This town is extremely hot in summer and the AC in the room was super strong and quiet. Everything was brand spankin' new and excellent quality. We looked out our window at the ancient walls of Carcassonne. Wow! Parking was free and convenient and you just walk out the front door of the hotel and across the street to the path up into Carcassonne. We would definitely stay here again!

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY IF YOU WANT TO EXPLORE THE CITE. THE APPARTMENTS ARE MODERN AND CLEAN WITH SECURE UNDERGROUND PARKING. ( AT A COST THOUGH ). YOU CAN WALK TO THE CITE AND IT HAS EASY ROAD ACCESS TO GET OUT OF TOWN IF YOU WANT.

You can't fault the location of this hotel under the stunning walls of the ancient City of Carcassonne (although hard to find as no directions provided). The hotel was clean and modern with a good sized apartment style room. The only small gripes were the inadequate pillows and lack of coverings on the cold tiled floors which gave the room a clinical rather than cosy feel. Breakfast at 7 EUR is good value but the food and coffee weren't great and you're better off going to the local boulangerie. Jacuzzi was very disappointing and not worth a try.

Au pied de la cité et facile d'accès l'hotel est accueillant calme et confortable. Prévoir le parking avec l'hôtel car peu de places à proximité. Pensez à réserver le petit déjeuner sinon il faut faire quelques courses et le prendre dans la chambre parfaitement équipée à cet effet. Une bonne adressse pour visiter Carcassonne et ses alentours

Propreté irréprochable, bon équipement, j'y retournerai sans hésitation.

hôtel très bien situé pour visite de la cité, pas besoin de son véhicule, chambre spacieuse pour adultes et enfants.
