Hotel Vera - St. Petersburg

The Vera has been recently refurbished and so our room was quite pristine in condition. The bathroom looked as if it was brand new with a powerful shower over the bath. The plumbing worked well although there was no sealant around the bath so the water ran down under the bath and onto the floor, making the floor quite wet. The bedroom did get quite stuffy at times and whilst it was possible to open the windows we had a room on the front, that is, by the road which was noisy therefore opening a window was not always possible. In hindsight we should have asked for another room, way from the road. We had taken a travel kettle which proved invaluable as there was not one in the room although there was a small fridge. The room had adequate storage space but may be considered small when compared to some hotels. After staying in Finland before Russia where the buffet breakfasts catered for all, breakfast at the Vera was a little restricted in that much of it was prepacked and processed food. The brekfast room was quite small and got quite busy at times although there always seemed to be plenty of food available. The Vera's main asset was its staff. They were extremely helpful, cheerful and could speak good english. They had information on most things and were always willing to help. They had information sheets on which buses to catch which were invaluable and other useful information. I

THe staff was great and very helpful. The rooms are small by USA standards but normal by Russia standards. A 10 min. walk from the train station, 12 min. walk to Metro. And yes I would stay there again.

Upon arriving at the hotel, it was very disappointing. It appeared nothing like the pictures or the description. It is a very basic hotel with very basic furnishings. The breakfast is also very simple. The hotel is fine if you were expecting the simplicity that we encounted. It is clean and well maintained. It is a short walk to the subway station. It would be recommended if you were aware that is would be basic accomodations and decent for the price. Fairly convenient to public transportation as well and very helpful staff.

Breakfast was lovely and ample. Bed was hard (past firm :-( Rug was filty. I think new carpet may be coming because I saw a large roll of carpet in the entry. Smoking was only permited in one area, which happened to be outside my room :-( No comfortable chair in room. Receptionists were very helpful with directions.

For the price, it was a good hotel. Staff was helpful and spoke good English. The room was a bit odd as it was on the top floor and the ceiling was tapered down so that you couldn't stand up around one of the beds. Recommend requesting a room NOT on the to floor. Also, the hot water took about 20 minutes to reach a temperature so you could take a shower. This was true of all rooms. They say they are working on getting it fixed.

The hotel is relatively new and is affordably priced for the budget conscious traveler. The breakfast buffet offers a large variety of food and great coffee. The hotel Vera is not too far from the Nevsky Prospect, the nexus of the city. The budget rooms are small but good value. However, you will need to buy your own soap for the bathroom, as none is provided.

15 min walk to Metro or 30 minute walk to main part of Nevsky Pr. Clean area. Windows open but street is very noisy when open. BBC News on TV. Room small compared to most bargain US hotels. Room rate reasonable for St Pete. Staff very friendly. Breakfast with cold sausage, cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, bread, boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, juice and tea. Street door security.

Mycket trevlig personal, rena och bekväma rum, men lite för trångt i korridorerna och ingen bilparkering framför hotellet.

Bien situé, confortable, bon rapport qualité/prix. Personnel excessivement accueillant et souriant (ce qui n'est pas une habitude dans la ville). Disponible. petit déjeuner-buffet très bien. Rien à critiquer. Belle aidfe immédiate aussi pour les démarches administratives avant réception du visa.

typisch touristen hotel. erg basic en sober. draadloos internet. uitstekende service bij verstrekken visumbrief. goedkoop doch wel redelijk ver uit het stadscentrum.

een nadeel, er is geen bar, geen gezamenlijke ruimte waar je 's-avonds kunt zitten.

Venligt personale, fine gratis faciliteter, rent og pænt, udmærket morgen buffet, mit economy værelse var dog lille, men bare til overnatning var det ok

Cet hotel n'est pas loin du centre dans un quartier calme et sympatique , l'hotel est lui-meme très calme et le petit déjeuner est parfait . Ma chambre était très agréable , le personnel très sympatique .

Hotel Vera ist ein Hotel nicht im üblichen Sinne. Sondern es werden nur einzelne Stockwercke in einem MFH als Hotel betrieben. Etwa 15 Minuten von der Metro entfernt. Zimmer sehr sauber und schön und gross. Im Bad leider Gerüche aus dem Abfluss und der Toilettenpapierhalter ist nicht angeschraubt sondern fällt bei Berührung von der Wand. Der Zugang zu einigen Zimmer ist nur über einen Umweg über das andere Stockwerk möglich. Rauf und wieder runter

Vi fik et ny værelse på grund af støj fra vandvarmer i det første værelse. Det nye værelse var dog oppe undertaget med skrå væge. Til gengæld uden støj.
