Caribbean Sunset Resort - Negril

The staff at the hotel were very attentive and caring. They go out of the way to ensure customer satisfaction. It is not what one would deem " five star" but for the money they attempt to make sure that the guests are comfortable, even if it means moving around until you find a room that is satisfying to you the guest. They have one of the best set of staff i have ever seen. It is a place to go when u need to feel at home. The hotel is not by the beach but there is a beach at a sister property near by which is accessible to the guests.

i had a great stay i got in early and had no bags because the airline lost it and carline at the front dest was very helpful.

Great place for people on the move. You can arrange transportation, through the hotel, to go about anywhere in West Jamaica for around 100 us. I'm sure you could negotiate cheaper, but we didn't mind paying it. Location was between the cliffs and the beach, so you are a $5 cab ride from the beach, restaurants, and bars. We also rented a small shack by Rooms Hotel for 40 a night. It had a full fridge and basically served as a day cabana. Check with the jerk joint on the beach. It was like staying at a campsite. The bottom line is that the hotel is safe and cheap. Great for people who want to see more than the inside of their resort. It is cheap and frees up your money for more adventurous pursuits. We actually left early and stayed in Treasure Beach for a few days, just to see more of jamaica.

I had i great time, the people at the desk are not really helpful but everyone else that works there was very helpful. A lot of things don't work in different rooms so when they so you the room make sure they work or change rooms because the wont get around to doing any maintenance when your there.

My stay was very pleasant the weather was mild at night so I didn't use the air conditioning and my room was clean and free of insects. Some of the rooms don't have screens. My room was one of them. This wasn't a problem because I wasn't bothered by any insects during my stay. I was glad that they gave me a room with a refrigerator even though the room wasn't advertised with one because not all rooms were provided with one. The food and drinks were well prepared and served well even though a bit over priced. The resort was renovating several rooms during my stay this wasn't an issue for me because it wasn't being done near my room. The pool was clean and provided free Internet WIFI access for my laptop. I didn't need to use their free computer room. The security was very good on the resort grounds and I liked the resort location being located in town because it was in walking distance to the banks, shops and grocery stores. The beach is a 5-20 minute walk depending on how far down the 7 mile beach you were going.

Nice clean place to stay. Only a few rooms have a view of the ocean (not beach)Friendly and helpful staff. Grocery store, money changing, Scotia Bank, souvenir shops, Jamaican patties, Jerk chicken, taxi and more, just down the hill. 3min walk. Food at the hotel is ok, at best. Dinner under $15. May not have some items in stock. Rooms come with atleast a small fridge, others microwave. Free wifi if you have your computer, in lobby and pool area. Can use hotel computer $3 for 20 min. Beach is a 10 min walk. It would take about another 15-20 mins to get to the main action on the beach. There are 7 miles of beaches out there. Took us 2 hrs to reach the end. If you don't mind walking this place will work for you. You can get a cab down the hill otherwise. Market area down the hill can get pretty busey at times, but we felt safe walking around even at night. Taxi drivers asking if you need a ride, folks asking if you need to change money, some selling stuff, and a few beggers. You must past this area for the beach. Room was cleaned daily, though ours was done in the evening, around 6pm. We got fresh towels (2 large, & 2 medium) and soap daily. Few ants in room nothing major. No screen on windows. Heard music late in the night, from out door party. A/C worked well.

The hotel roomwas not available on time. The bar had limited alcohol. The air conditioner minimally worked. It was my sister's anniversary and my birthday and we were told there would be extra accomodations for these events. Nothing was given for those events. My sisters rooom was suppose to be garden view with aking size bed. She had no king bed and she was facing a barber shop surrounded by a lot of garbage.

I would recommend this hotel to others with the caveat that they request an oceanview room on the second floor. I called the day before I left the U.S. to confirm my reservation and arrival time--all was A-OK. When I got there, the rooms (I had 2) were not ready. It was already 5 p.m. One room was "mostly prepared", so I gave that room to my in-laws with their child. The only thing missing from their room was the TV, which had to be brought over from somewhere--another room? the owners house? the neighbor down the street? My room had not be changed out, nor was there a TV in my room and the smoke alarm battery was dying so it kept "chirping". I simply used the room to change into my bathing suit and allowed them to continue cleaning, etc...everything was finally "finished" by 7:30 p.m. that evening. Nice people, but very much on "island time"!

I had mixed feelings about this hotel but I am glad I ignored the negative reviews and stayed at this Resort. It's a 2* Hotel which is why it's so cheap - don't expect 5* service, be realistic! The hotel's in the heart of Negril's town centre. Close to a supermarket, money exchange, Burger King, gift shops, etc. My room was clean & big - 2 double beds, a tv (17 channels), fridge, AC and ceiling fan, + lots of space! It only had 3 wall lights so it was quite dark. The room had an ensuite bathroom with hot water. Soap, towels and toilet roll were provided daily. There is no phone in the room. There were 7 or 8 ants in the room and they did crawl onto the bed! The hotel is on a hill - I'm not the fittest person in the world but did not struggle with the hill. Security at the hotel was very tight, nobody was allowed on the grounds without prior notice. I often came home at 5am after partying the night away and never felt unsafe! Be prepared to pay $3 per day for a safe deposit key. The restaurant & bar overlook the pool, the food is tasty and reasonably priced (large portions). As the hotel is on a hill, you get great views of Negril from some sides of the hotel. I didn't see creatures such as cockroaches, lizards, beetles in my room - that was a bonus! On my next visit to Jamaica I will not stay anywhere other than the Caribbean Sunset Resort in Negril. The other hotels were along the beach strip, away from local amenities. I couldn't have picked a better place to stay!

The walk to the beach isn't too far, but it didn't feel safe. The hotel is isolated on the top of a hill and all the locals knew where we were staying (a little unnerving). We went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. We sat for 20 minutes without seeing anyone that worked there. When we asked at the desk if they were open, we were told "they are probably getting another order ready"....There was only one other table occupied, and he had already been served.

Let me just tell you I got an outstanding deal for this hotel. No its not Sandals, or Beaches but for the money you can't go wrong. The grounds need considerable work but our room was clean, comfortable, our king bed was awesome. We had a fantastic view and the service was wonderful. The location isn't bad either. The beach isn't close enough to walk but its not more than a few minutes drive away. The hotel is right in the town center so shopping isn't too far away. The staff was outstanding. They checked on us everyday during our week long stay. If you are looking for a great hotel on a budget I would absolutely recommend this.

The Hotel was very nice and much better than i expected. i was afraid when i read some of the reviews so i expected the worst. Megan the cleaning lady was great and very friendly, she help us with what ever needs we had. there was a little hill but there is also a short cut down the stairs out side of the security gate so you can avoid the hill. The beach is a little walk but it is no long distance. i enjoy my stay in Jamaica and i am looking forward to visit again. i must say though that it is better to buy food from the stores around because the hotel food is a bit expensive. if your book a room with stove that is better because you can go to the supermarket and then cook. but over all it is a great place to stay

For the price, this hotel was really nice and better then I expected. The staff is nice and the room is clean. The only thing the hotel does not have is a phone in the room, but really who are you going to call. Great location!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even assisted my husband in planning a birthday surprise for me by decorating the room beautifully with flowers and balloons while he had me away shopping. However, there were quite a bit of ants in the room. The ac unit was difficult to operate and we had to pay for coffee in the mornings. I knew it wasn't all inclusive, but coffee? I did like the fact that there was a guard at the entrance 24/7 allowing only guests to enter which made us feel more secure. It was a very reasonably priced room so I didn't expect too much but I was unhappy about the insects crawling around on my toothbrush and food that we had brought back to snack on. I think I would stay there again for the price and the staff but I would bring some insect spray next time.

The location of the hotel was on a hill away from the busy streets. It was a minutes walk away from a Burger King and the beach. The rooms were comfortable but had dirty tile floors. Overall it was a good stay for the price and the location of the hotel

Read reviews of others and was a little worried it was going to be a dump, but when we got there it was amazing. Room was clean and in good condition. People said there was bugs, but we did not find anything unexpected. We could walk to the beach, walk to the clubs, walk to the cliff jumping, walk to the store, and walk to food. There was a nice large safe to put my camera in as well. We were all very pleased with the hotel. Did take a second to find, but its right up the hill from the the Burger King.

Were a little unsure about what to expect from the hotel given some reviews we read. Was pleasantly surprised by the facility. Rooms are basic but I don't go to Negril to stay in my room. Property was clean, staff friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely consider staying again especially considering the cost! Great value.

This hotel is OK if you can't get a place on the beach. During the day it was quiet, but you can definitely hear all the road noise and dogs barking at night (if there is night activity on the streets). The mattresses could use improvement. The hotel was located close to everything and not too far from the beach, which was its good point.

not on the beach, but in walking distance, shopping area real close, supermarket real close, food services real close, great rate to be so close to the beach, quiet and peaceful at night, except on weekends....felt safe to be a woman and traveling by myself, their is one person here that was very nice and went out of his way his name is Everald, if u come here ask for him and he will answer all of ur questions about the island!

We stayed in the hotel for almost 10 days and received extremely good service. The hotel rooms were clean everyday and the property was beautiful. Great stay for our money! We highly recommend this hotel.

Only thing i missed was a phone at the room, but they had one in the reception that was free to use

Vi boede 3 dage på Caribbean Sunset og nød det til fulde. FIk en gratis opgradering og kunne vågne med udsigt til pool og det karibiske hav. Så gør det ikke så noget at værelset er lidt skrabet indrettet og der var myrer på badeværelset. Ligger lidt fra den populære 7-mile beach, men tæt på glimrende supermarked og en BurgerKing, samt diverse souvenirbutikker. Vil helt sikkert anbefale det og komme tilbage.
