Needs improvement; uncomfortable bed; somewhat musty odor upon entering room; older facility; needed to reactivate door card twice during the three-day stay; breakfast was truly continental and marginal - coffee, juice, doughnut, bagel; generally quiet surroundings; on a bus line with subway entrance on the street beside the hotel; friendly, matter-of-fact staff; dead rat in poarking lot upon arrival that was soon removed.

The hotel is in rough part of town. The shower smelled of must and if the room temp wasn't 70 or below it did too. We couldn't get a couple of extra towels and breakfast is cut off promptly at 9:30. There are a couple of good points of this place. The subway entrance and exit are both right next to the hotel. There is a good chinese food place and nice little store next to it. I would stay here again only if it was last minute or nothing better priced.

My husband and I need to overnight as we were hanging out with friends and just need a clean bed and bathroom and that just what we got at the Red Carpet Inn. You get the bare necessity, wanted extra pillows as there was only 2 in the room and was told they were fully booked. New bedsheets would be a plus as the ones on the bed was worn and had holes. No clock or radio in room. If you just need a bed and clean bathroom...go for it.

Checked into the hotel for four nights over the Valentines Day weekend. Other than noisy guests nearby, the hotel room was clean and the staff was accommodating. The train to Manhattan, and bus to downtown Brooklyn were right outside the doors. There is a store, restaurant, Chinese and shopping in walking distance; if you like to walk. There was breakfast available(bagels and donuts and coffee) but I never did get up early enough!! My 16 year old daughter and I never really stayed in the hotel much except at night and for the most part the outside noise was not bothersome. I would definately stay again. The price and location were ideal and the overall cleanliness for the hotel being only 4 years old was as expected.

It's a hotel that serves my need very well. The hotel is located in Brooklyn, not the best area but just right for the price. I drove my car there, and I wanted to explore Manhattan by Subway. They have parking for hotel guest and subway access right in front of the hotel! Which is perfect. They have direct door to the parking from the hotel. And on the last day, I asked if I can leave the car until 6pm in the hotel parking and they let me do it, so helpful. Not to mention, their breakfast is tasty!

First off the hotel had a very unpleasant odor. The first room we were given had hair all over the sink and floor in the bathroom. when we complained about the cleanliness the staff was rude and very unprofessional. We were then given another room but the lock was inoperable and we had to be let in by management each time we left. By the way if you plan on using the internet here plan on bringing your own cord. The only good thing about this hotel stay was that there was hot water and a few clean towels.

We visit New York every year. We've stayed in other burroughs but this was our first stay in Brooklyn. The rate for the hotel was great and the subway is directly across the street. I would recommend this hotel for travelers who are used to traveling to the city. If this is your first trip, I would recommend staying in Manhattan. The staff was friendly. There was a convenience store across the street and the staff there was extremely helpful and nice. We stayed on the first floor and it was a little noisy at night with people coming and going and talking loudly in the hallways. The night we left, we requested a wake-up call at 3 a.m. and a taxi to be there at 3:30 a.m. Instead we got a wake-up call at 2:30 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. and the taxi was there at 3 a.m., so there was a little mix-up there. Overall, we would stay at this hotel again because we enjoyed the price and the close proximity to the subway.

The neighborhood was a little intimanating at first but we were there a week and had no problems. It was quite at night and there were no strangers lottering the area. The other guests were nice folks and the hotel was in good condition. The subway station L Train was next to the hotel which made a big plus for not having to walk far. The only knock was there were not many food places around so we ate before we went back to the hotel. Overall I would stay there again for the price paid.

While I cannot say I was ever deliberately misled about this hotel, there was a great deal of information withheld. For example, the subway station is directly across from the hotel, which is one of the reasons (besides price) I chose this hotel. However, the stop is 30 minutes outside of Manhattan...if you get a train immediately. The L line is one of the few that have train spacing of more than 5 or so minutes. There is free breakfast...if you get up early. They ran out of food every single day of my week-long stay. The internet was always 'being repaired' during my stay. The neighborhood is run down and slighly scary at night. The room was clean when we arrived, but as the week went on, there was a noticable decline in the quality of the housekeeping efforts. If you are strictly looking for a place to sleep at night, this hotel may be a good choice. However, if you have any illusions of actually utilizing any of the amenities advertised, or stopping at your hotel during the day, you are probably better off somewhere else.

The Red Carpet Inn was the perfect hotel for myself and my mom- we were seeing downtown galleries and a Broadway show, and wanted someplace quiet, away from the bustle of the city. Brooklyn was a relief after the noise of downtown! The hotel is located directly on the "L" train line and could not have been more conveniently located. My mother has some walking issues, so the elevator inside the hotel was incredibly appreciated. The staff was helpful and friendly at check-in; when we requested an upstairs room, we received one immediately. There were plenty of towels and the bed linens were clean and fresh. (Hairdryers in the room- a great plus.) The A/C unit in the room worked perfectly and we were very comfortable. The bathrooms looked new and the fixtures/water pressure was perfect. As far as the neighborhood, we had little time to explore but found the small grocery mart across the street had good prices and a wide variety of snacks. Perfect for a movie night in the hotel after a long day of sightseeing. Some people might not like the neighborhood but everyone we encountered was friendly, and there were always people/cars in the area- not deserted or creepy at all, in our opinion. All in all, we had a great time and will definitely return for our next trip to NYC.

Although I did not do any comparison shopping, I was pleasantly surprised to find a sizeable room in an inexpensive motel, with parking in back, across the street from the subway, in Brooklyn. It shows considerable wear for having been built in 2005, but staff members did a good job with the daily cleaning. Towels, linens and soap were changed daily, but no shampoo was provided. Body lotion was. Curtains could use replacement, and the walls were bare. Pastries and coffee were available in the morning by the front desk. This would not be for you if you need more than the basics. If that is sufficient, this is a good value.

I have never been treated so terribly at a hotel. When we arrived, we checked in through a slot in the bullet proof glass that surrounded the front desk. We went to our room and discovered that the door did not latch properly. We went to the front desk to ask for a different room, but there were none. They showed us a trick to get it to latch and we thought it would be fine. However, we were gone the whole next day and when we returned, our door was left wide open by the cleaning staff. I went down to tell the front desk that I was concerned about this and the person there basically told me that I wasn't telling the truth. That I was lying! I was very angry. I told another person at the front desk in the morning when we checked out and he said basically the same thing, that we were making it up. I pointed out to them that I thought the most basic service a hotel should provide is a safe lockable room that I can stay in and leave my stuff in while I"m gone. I outright asked for an apology and was outright denied. I would never stay there again even though it was very very cheap. If you do stay there, do not leave anything valuable in your room, because the staff might come in and leave your door open. There are signs all over that they are not responsible for your items - even though they don't bother to close the doors when you aren't there. The staff is incredibly rude and uncooperative and uncaring about the satisfaction of there customers.

Considering all the dreadful places it's possible to stay in NYC, this hotel is a find! It's right over the subway (L line), so it's easy to get anywhere you need to go, and the room was perfectly comfortable. The free breakfast is, unfortuantely, free for a reason (no one would pay for it!) and the hall is noisy at all hours, but for the price that's not a great drawback.

This motel was clean and adequate for our family (mom and 3 teenagers). Best of all, the L line was directly across the street and got us into Manhattan in 20 minutes. We used the amount we saved by staying here instead of Manhattan to see a Broadway show -- a great trade-off for budget travelers! Bill's Restaurant across the street has a good and inexpensive breakfast. There are also a couple of other small restaurants and a corner store across the street. The motel is in a "real" working class neighborhood, but there were many people of all ages walking to and from the subway, and we felt safe at all times.

This hotel was a good deal for the money. The location was good - very close to public transportation. The hotel service was very good, too - the employees were friendly and helpful. The place is fine if you are travelling for a brief stay on business or a quick trip to NYC. There were some drawbacks: The room I stayed in had no closet or place to hang clothing and I was somewhat concerned about the cleanliness of the room. Despite this, the hotel was a bargain and I would return for a brief visit (one or two nights).

I loved the secure parking, and generally feeling of safety and security in the hotel. With the subway running beneath the property it is convenient but also reminded me of a gentle earthquake as the trains rumbled through. It's New York. They don't seem to have a staff dining area as I saw housekeepers sitting cross-legged having lunch on the floor of a room they were servicing. The bed was firm the way I like it, but the sheets (and mattress pad?) slid audibly as if a hard, slippery layer of vinyl were lurking beneath. The bathroom had expensive-looking stone counters, a deep jacuzzi, and a chic-looking black toilet whose stopper leaked. The leaky stopper bothered me. That wastes water around the clock. I didn't report it to the front desk because it would have meant removing all my products from the bathroom, and waiting around for the person to finish. One fundamental lapse was the front desk's failure to make the wake-up call I had requested the foregoing afternoon. On the plus side, the coffee on the lobby buffet was rich and flavorful. I have a soft spot for the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. It's a different, mellower world from what one typically expects. Another plus to me is the hotel's easy proximity to the Jackie Robinson Parkway. Access to and from the major NY highways was a snap. Just make sure your travel alarm clock has fresh batteries.

I've seen a lot of bad reviews of this hotel for all the wrong reasons. Obviously you get what you pay for. If you want a CHEAP hotel with easy access to Manhattan, this is the place to go. You can't beat it. The surrounding area IS shady, but the hotel is literally directly above the L Train. You walk outside for about 50 feet and then down to the subway. Might take a half hour or an hour to get to Manhattan depending on what trains are shut down, but it's a nice little hotel. I've been there twice and only come back to the hotel to sleep. I go to NY to experience NY, not spend all day sitting around the hotel. It works perfect for me.
