O Hotel - Los Angeles

I previously read about this hotel. It got one of "LA's top 10 best new lobbies." the hotel is small enough to get excellent service. I'm a design buff. It is located two blocks from FIDM. The bar is very cute too!

Could not get cold drinking water from the sink. Hand held shower and no shower door was a problem. Bed was excellent and room waws kept very nice by hotel staff. Difficult to find from the outside. Area to hang clothes left something to be desired. considering that it was a last minute booking and no other hotels in the area were available it was fine.

Having read other reviews before I arrived at the O, I was prepared for the smaller room. All in all it was a nice place. Some things to note: I never found the mini- bar which is supposed to be in every room. The bathroom is a bit of a challenge as it is rather cramped; but it's so different from others, that I managed to overlook that. There is a fee for parking in the structure next door. Our room overlooked an airshaft and we were a mere 4 ft from the neighboring solid concrete wall of the parking structure. However, we could open the window, which I always like. And they have "mood" lighting under the bed and under the window valance which is nice. Breakfast was rather skimpy. But, all in all, we had a positive experience there.

The only thing I can think of to improve is lowering the temperature in the elevator and hallways. They were hot but you're only in there for a short time. Overall, awesome service and accommodations!!

This was a great hotel for the money. The rooms are a good size, the staff was always very friendly and helpful, and it's located closer to the L.A. Convention center than many other big-name hotels in the area. My only complaint about it is the bathroom. The bathroom door is a sliding door that, at least in our room, didn't fully shut, though it was easy enough to stick a towel in there to make for some privacy. The shower is just... a mess. There is a glass border around half the opening, but the other half is wide open. If you aren't careful, water gets EVERYWHERE. Other than that, this hotel was quite enjoyable.

even with the elevator out of order i loved this hotel. The room was tiny by US standards, with omly a double bed, not a Queen, but it was super comfortable, clean, had a fridge, andd the personnel was great. Parking is directly next door. The continental breakfast was minimal but good quality with fresh pastries, not the packaged commercial ones. the atmosphere is hip but not off-putting. I'd go back without hesitation. a word of caution---the wireless internet is in the lobby only---rooms have cables and the cable TV doesn't have a huge selection of channels.....

Rooms are small and dormlike. Climate control is ancient (i.e. remote control wall unit in room, none in hallways and elevator (which broke while I was there). Beds felt cheap and a little too soft. That said, for the rate, this hotel is very adequate and the location in downtown is key with a Ralph's grocery, 2 X Michelin starred restaurants, the 7th street Metro station, the Staple Center, and a 24 hour fitness within walking distance.

Hotel was just blocks from L.A. LIVE and STAPLES Center. Bed was super comfy!

The hotel rates, parking arrangement with the parking garage next door, cute continental breakfast, excellent lunch and dinner kitchen, and cool euro-minded room was one of the best hotel experiences I ever had, especially for the price. It was perfect for the gig I had downtown for the week. A walk to LA Live as well.

The breakfast was very little to choose from. The Bed was very small and soft.

Small room. Super comfortable bed! Muffins, fruit, coffee, tea, juice in the morning is a nice extra.

Room clean and comfortable. Group of noisy guests was noisy the entire night and ended up having an after-party in their rooms. Was impossible to get any sleep. Complaint to front desk didn't resolve the problem. Neighborhood in transition. Quite a few homeless people harmless--for the most part. Paid a fair price for standard room, but hotel's between a 2.5 to 3 star hotel. Hotel and staff are fine, but one reason I chose this hotel was the proximity to metro station, about 2 blocks away. But didn't feel safe walking in area at night anyhow. I'd stay in a safer area next time, at least one where I'd feel confident walking alone late at night.

The room was a little small but pretty nice with a modern look. The window looked out directly to a cinder block wall only 2 feet away. Very close to Staples center which was nice because the reason for my trip was a Lakers game. Had to call room service to get ice..but it did not come within 45 minutes and I was leaving so i don't know if it ever showed up. Parking was easy. $10 overnight.

The room was small and not clean. There were stains all over the carpet and the shower had mold in it. The bathroom door was too hard to open and close. Also the shower was difficult and uncomfortable. The food at the hotel was really good though. I would recommend going there for dinner and drinks but not overnight.

After staying at 4 or 5 star hotels due to business travel, this hotel stay was on my own and I needed something in less than 24 hours. The price was great for what I got and I got more than expected. It wasn't the full-service hotel that accustomed to, but the service was very personable and excellent. The room was minimal but clean. The gym equipment was not bad and clean. Free continental breakfast consisted of better than average danishes (which I was expecting), bran muffins and fruit. No valet at the moment, which I was hoping for since I checked in at 11pm but the parking garage was conveniently located next door and it did not feel too intimidating, considering how late it was. I'd go back if I had plans in Downtown LA.

We needed to book a hotel room for a same-night stay, so I didn't have the time to do a lot of research on the hotels in that area. I went to Hotels.com, found the O Hotel at the top of the list - it looked clean and modern and the price was really good, so we booked it. I honestly didn't know what to expect when we arrived, but we were pleasantly surprised. If we had stayed at the Standard just up the street, it would have cost us twice as much, and wouldn't have been half as nice as this hotel. I'd recommend the O Hotel in downtown LA to anyone. We see a lot of shows/concerts up in LA, and we usually get a hotel room instead of driving home to the OC. I will definitely stay there next time we're there. Pleasantly surprised.

This hotel was perfect for a one night stay and was a short drive to the USC Medical Center. The hotel is hard to find as it doesn't have any signs out front and is among a lot of construction now (3/09). But the front desk was very helpful and patient in helping me find it. Parking is directly next to the front door for $8 or $11 for the night. Very convenient and safe. The hotel had a fun modern look that made the stay fun and they had pastries, coffee and juice for a quick breakfast.

The O Hotel is a newly renovated establishment in a relatively run-down neighborhood. The price for the room, however, was outstanding considering what you get once inside the establishment. The bed was extremely comfortable, and you've gotta love a wall-mounted, flat-screen plasma TV! Decor was very chic, as was the general decor of the hotel itself. A great place to stay if you're in the downtown Los Angeles area and don't want to shell out for a more expensive room in a different hotel in the same general area as the the O. The only downsides worth mentioning are the neighborhood, which like any downtown area is not the best late at night and the strangely modern showers. There was no door or glass/plastic barrier on a half-section of the shower and it was difficult to keep water off of the floor. The shower head itself was also non-traditional, in that it was more of a stick from which water sprayed out. It reminded me of those detachable, massage-oriented shower heads. For those of you who don't like to hold the shower head in your hands, perhaps this hotel is not for you. If you shave in the shower, the head used at the O makes such a task difficult, if not impossible, but I quite enjoyed my stay at the hotel despite the issues referenced above. Parking rates seemed reasonable to me (at least at the time of my travel) and shouldn't discourage you from taking advantage of this diamond in the rough. I would recommend the O Hotel to anyone in Los Angeles needing to stay in the downtown area on a budget.

great location, walking distance to restaurants, shopping, coffee bean, robeks etc. you have to park yourself at a nearby lot though, at least as far as i could tell. only downside to the small but comfortable room was i would have to prop a pillow in front of the light on the corner of the plasma tv screen so it didn't disturb my sleep.

I was in town for an event at the Staples Center and this hotel is a short walk away. The last time I was in LA a couple years ago for the same reason, I stayed in the Ritz Milner next to this hotel. (The O Hotel was still under construction.) That place was a total dump, so I was worried about the condition of this hotel. It's right next to a parking garage. You'll just have to pay $11 a day, which really isn't bad. The staff was helpful and almost flirtatious. A bonus! The elevator, though a little warm, is very artsy with its red light. The room was quite small, but very cozy and clean. The shower was silly. Did the job, but silly. Breakfast wasn't much, just muffins and fruit. The bar/restaraunt was small, but nice. Good music, but an odd drink/food menu. I would hope for something a litte more "normal." This isn't the most high end hotel after all. Overall, I wish I could've stayed longer. The bed rocked! I'll definitely stay again...

the room was somewhat small and some of the furniture needed replacing, but overall we loved the hotel. Across the street from a shopping mall, upscale grocery store and quality restaurants. We walked everywhere!

We loved the decor! Very hip/edgy and modern. The shower/bathroom was cool, but the "shower door" entry to the bathroom didn't work well. The food in the hip restaurant was AMAZING! THey don't have wifi in the rooms, but if you have an ethernet connection, they have a plug in. I'll stay here again!

The O Hotel is indeed a find for downtown Los Angeles. I needed to be near the Macy's Plaza, the California Club, and the L.A. Convention Center, and the O Hotel's location was fairly ideal. However, two things disappointed me: (1) The shower stall, while appearing clean and tidy, smelled of mildew. In fact, the ventilation vents were dirty and showed signs of mildew or dirt. (2) A garbage truck noisily operated at 6:02 AM outside and woke me up from my sleep. The noise lasted at least 10 minutes and I could not go back to sleep. Also, other reviewers commented about the cheap parking in the several garages nearby. True, if you do not leave your car overnight, that is. Otherwise, I am not sure there is any real saving compared to the hotel's valet service. Overall, I would recommend the O Hotel to others, but not without some hesitation.

The hotel is conveniently located to the Ernst & Young building. The building itself seems fairly old, but the O Hotel has modernized it by upgrading the bathrooms and fixtures. The elevator is "outta sight" with red halogen bulbs beaming heat down on you, and the light reflecting off the metallic walls. Their gym not only contains the traditional exercise bike and treadmill, but also a weight machine for legs and back..

Hotel staff was spotty. Some were very professional, some were arrogant and unprofessional. Food was excellent, but the hotel staff messed-up the room service order, which was never corrected (had to call every 5 minutes for 40 minutes to reach room service). Qty of 10 chicken wings ended costing me $28... I am not kidding, after the added fees of room delivery and 18% service fees. RIDICULOUS. Parking fees were EXCESSIVE! $22/day! Shower was unusual, and was not cleaned. Very disappointed to find wad of previous tenant hair in the shower in plain view. Location was good. would not stay there again... not worth the price and the price seemed reasonable.
