We were in a basement room which was dark, damp and smelly. We have stayed here before on the second floor and had a much better room.

Although the surrounding area is purely industrial, this hotel was a great bargain. Breakfast was great! Room was very clean and spacious (for New York).

Comentado por un huésped de Hotels.com el jul 24, 2009.
This hotel is on a totally industrial block in Brooklyn. I am an urban person, comfortable in marginal areas, but this place is NOT in the kind of neighborhood you expect to see a Holiday Inn. My room was in the basement and there were maids' carts lined up outside my room, blocking the path from the elevator for almost my entire visit. The staff would gather right outside my door and had loud conversations there late into the night and again early in the morning. When they finished their shifts they had loud conversations in the parking lot--which was also right outside my room. An office for the hotel was two doors from my room and the door to it was always open and I often heard loud conversation from there as well. There was also no hot water during the time I needed to take a shower in the morning. I was asked by the hotel to email feedback on my stay. Their inbox was always full (perhaps of other similar complaints). I could have stayed in Manhattan at a much nicer place in a much nicer neighborhood for the money I spent on this place. I won't make that mistake again.

It is located in an industrial area and made me very uncomfortable. You would have to walk through an unsafe neighbor hood to get to Brooklyn Heights(the best area in town). Bedrooms are beautifully remodeled but very tiny. Walls were like paper and because of our ranbunctious neighbors who felt the need to hang out in the hallway,it felt more like a college dorm than a nice hotel room. Stacks of towels and crates decorated our hallways each day. Breakfast was in a tiny cafeteria and very uncomfortable: the orange juice was bitter and the apple juice was completely watered down. The people however were sweet and provided excellent customer service. The bedroom was immaculate and tastefully decorated but I felt clausterphobic from the reception area to the cafe to the bedroom. I just needed much more "elbow room".

The Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn DOWNTOWN was certainly comfortable. The only problem was that we didn't know that there were 2 HIEs within 4 blocks of each other, so we were dropped off at the wrong one. It was a quick walk though. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, and the location is good in terms of public transport. One thing...don't let them put you in a room on the first floor near the lobby! It was so loud! We literally had trouble sleeping. Other than that, it was clean, air conditioned, and the beds are really comfortable. A great value in NYC.

We chose this hotel over another one because it stated that it had parking. It only has limited parking and by the time we checked in all the parking spots were gone. We spent two hours trying to find a park in front of the warehouses and abandoned buildings. We were then given a smoking room when we requested a non-smoking room.I was pregnant and spent a long sleepless night breathing in all the second hand smoke that seeped under the door even after we tried blocking it with towels. The king room is so small that there is only about a foot of space to walk around the bed.The hotel card in the room stated that breakfast ended at 10:30 on the weekends. We went down at 10:00am and breakfast was over.We got no apologies. Never again even if that is the last hotel in Brooklyn.

The hotel was nice and clean and very well kept. The room was comfortable and clean. It was very easy to find your way around to shop etc. The only thing I didnt like was that our room was right next to the elevator, ice machine and stairs so we could hear the elevator go up and down etc. I will definitely be staying at this hotel for my next visit to NY!

This hotel is an excellent value and a good location for Brooklyn visits. However, I must warn you never to stay on the first floor. Our first night, we were put in a room that was right across from the common area, the maintenance closet, and the ice machine. There was a loud movie playing until very late at night and we could hear every move the staff made as they cleaned up for the night and prepared breakfast in the morning. No traveler should be placed in this room, especially if they are hoping for a good night's sleep. On our second night, we moved to the 5th floor and enjoyed an excellent stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast is tasty and includes hot dishes, the place is clean and well kept. It is within walking distance to 2 subway stops and several nice little neighborhood restaurants. I would definitely return here, now that I know to ask for a room above the main floor.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. It is close to downtown Brooklyn, but the last few blocks surrounding the hotel are industrial and can be a little sketchy walking back from the subway at night. I felt okay walking with my husband, but would not reccomend for women walking alone. I felt totally safe everywhere else in the city and on Atlantic and 4th which are the main routes to the subway. The subway was an easy walk away. However, this hotel was a bargain at about $75 dollars less than downtown Brooklyn which was only 1 mile away.
