"Great location!"

We had a lovely time in Carcassonne. The b&b was easy to find - aided by the friendly & helpful bus driver on the trip form the airport. We arrived just as the paras were leaving training and singing their way back to the barracks. (They could be heard in the distance every day - like our own choir!) This proved a good omen as my partner is ex-army. We were in the 'Carthage' room - decor with a nod to Tunisia - large, airy, clean and comfortable. Bottles of water were in the room on our arrival, which was a nice touch. Wardrobe facilities are limited to a rail, but for a 3 night stay with hand luggage, it's fine. There’ s plenty of drawer space if needed. The bathroom was through a concertina door, so maybe not good for your first trip away! However the only sound issue we found was the noise from the bathroom next door. It’s a great location - a couple of minutes from the main shopping street, v.quiet residential area and you can see Chateau Comtal from outside the house. If you walk down the road you reach a cute bridge to the Quai, and it’s a short walk to the Pont Vieux and the Cité. Breakfast was good – bread, croissant & coffee - limited choice but good quality. There is a lovely but lively Labrador in the garden, but she is not allowed in the house so don't let this put you off if you are afraid of dogs. It’s a great base for a short break, and much nicer than staying in an impersonal chain. Quirky, charming and friendly.

This little gem is located between the old and new part of the city. The owners are most welcoming and helpful. It is clearly evident that all guests love this place, as we witnessed from talking to other guests and listening to them talking to the owners. The house is going through different stages of refurbishment and the windows are being replaced this year. I would have no hesitation in visiting this house again, and welcome the opportunity to visit again in 2010. We ate at Chez Fred near the train station and would recommend it as a place to eat. Carcassonne is a fantastic place, it is much more impressive than I had imagined. The old part of the city is really impressive and Maison Sans Frontière Bed and Breakfast is located only minutes away.

If you are looking for somewhere with character and friendly hosts - this is the place. Well situated to go to both the old walled city and the new high street it was a pleasure to stay somewhere which feel more like you are at home than in a hotel. Each room themed by a country - I stayed in India room. Lovely owners and good breakfast.

Great little place to stay, reasonable rates and owners very helpful with advice on visiting local restaurants etc. Room was spacious and comfortable although very humid at night which we were expecting as we stayed there in August. Handy spot as it is between the 'old Town' and the marvellous medieval city of Carcossonne.

I went for a leisure trip for 4 nights with my best friend. Upon first arrival it may be easy to be put off by the iron gate and slightly unwelcoming look of the exterior. However, the second we entered the hotel we were greeted by an ever so lovely lady who was very helpful in settling us into our room, showing us how to get to the old and new city and helping us out in English when we struggled at times with our French. The location of the hotel is brilliant! About a 20 minute walk into the new and the old! The only problem I had with the room was that the adjoining bathroom was separated only by a curtain. Unless you're a close couple, it's not really appropriate. Also I believe most of the rooms share a communal bathroom. We booked unaware of this and the option did not come up through the booking stage. Make sure you check this before you book if you have a problem sharing. Breakfast was fairly average. Do make sure you get up early as the lady tends to set up breakfast including french bread and croissants outside and if left too long they obviously tend to go hard. Other than that, the breakfast was enjoyable. The bedroom and nicely decorated and were clean and inviting. There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms so you must be prepared to get a little warm at night. Better for the environment though on the plus point! Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel, its good value for money and we encountered no problems during our stay.

The Maison Sans Frontieres was above our expectations. The main strengths are the friendly and helpful service from Marlene and Michel and the rooms, which are decorated with individuality and style. We stayed in the 'Chambre Rio', with great cactus transfers on the walls and lots of little South American features. What a contrast to the bland and featureless rooms of most hotel chains! Breakfast is served outside in the quiet garden, and includes wonderful jams and preserves made by Marlenes' mother. In addition Marlene also produces freshly baked cakes. The hotel is well situated, being within easy walking distance of everything you could possibly want to visit in Carcssonne. A two minute walk gives you a stunning view of the Medieval Cite. An airport pickup is available for free. Our only reservation is that the temperatures were well over 30 degrees, so a fan would have been good!

We were delighted with the service we received during our stay at the Maison Sans Frontiere. The hotel is small and personal, with very individually decorated rooms. It's not got lots of mod cons, but we found it ideal as a quiet base for exploring Carcassonne. The breakfast served in the courtyard garden was a delightful surprise, with the highlight being the selection of home made preserves available to accompany the croissants and fresh bread. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, without being in the slightest intrusive. The only downside for us was the lack of air-conditioning, as the nights were very humid when we were there.

The hotel was good for one night. There was no TV in the room. We liked the view of the Old City from our room and the walking distance to it from the hotel. The breakfast was very good. If you can stay in a room without a TV, then this hotel is for you. We had the Colombo room which was very nicely decorated. The room was good for 2 people. We would go back, if we were in the area for one night.

Goede informatie over carcassonne. Een heerlijk ontbijt met verse chocoladecake, croissantjes en stokbrood. Heerlijke koffie ;-) En wat je maar weinig ziet beddengoed die echt naar wasmiddel ruikt hahaha. Kortom wij komen zeker terug
