Grande Hotel de Paris - Residencial - Oporto

Stayed here for a conference - close to amenities in centre of Porto and about a 20-25 minute walk downhill to the Alfandega conference centre. Seemed like value for money but very basic room and bed not very comfortable. Tiny bathroom and often a smell of smoke in the mornings in the bedroom. Beautiful communal areas in the hotel, but breakfast didn't start until 8am so I missed it most days as I had to leave earlier than this. Free Wi-fi in lobby but not available in rooms themselves. The whole hotel also felt very poorly lit and reception service was very variable. Ok for a few days when you are elsewhere all day, but not sure I'd stay there again.

While the lobby definitely needs refreshed & updated, our double room on the third floor was a pleasant surprise. The room was small and simple, but very clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom seemed to have been renovated within the past few years (again, on the small side). Breakfast had a large selection of choices - the best we saw in Portugal. The location is perfect - walking distance (or short - and cheap - taxi ride) from all of the sights.

Chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews and was not disappointed. Very central and convinient for the main attractions of Porto, tube and railway station. Although only a 2* we have stayed in higher rating and more expensive hotels which have not been anywhere near as good. The staff were extreemly freindly and helpful. It was very clean and maintained to a good standard. The decor was a little faded in places and a throw-back in time but this added to the charm and charachter of the place. Had a range of collections of various old items - museum type quality! Breakfast was outstanding infact ona of the best we have ever had. Lovely garden , very pleasant in the mornings. Would definitely stay again. Only critisism is that there was no bar however this did'nt really matter as very close by there are cafe bars and restaurants. Overall a most enjoyable stay and excellent value for money.

Somewhat quaint, but definitely charming, with friendly and helpful staff. Very basic amenities, but good for travelers on a budget, especially if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room. The hotel is located up the hill from Ribeira district, and although the staff recommended taking the funicular up the hill, we found it was a manageable walk for those in shape.

Begin augustus 2009 3 dagen verbleven in Grande Hotel de Paris. Midden in het centrum van Porto met alle bezienswaardigheden, restaurantjes, winkels en uitgaansgelegenheden op loopafstand. Geweldig. Het hotel is echt prima. Zowel service, ontbijt als de kamers zijn goed. Enige minpuntje is misschien dat de kamers en bedden niet echt groot zijn maar dat was voor ons echt geen probleem. Ondanks dat het hotel heel oud is, is alles wel heel zuiver en dat vonden wij het belangrijkste. Kortom: een goed hotel voor een zeer schappelijke prijs.

Es ist zentral gelegen und sehr praktisch, wenn man mal eine kurze Siesta machen möchte. Frühstück sehr angenehm,schöne Umgebung, schöner Garten. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen
