We were pleasantly surprised when arriving at Ca Bragadin Carabba. It was a short walk from the Rialto Bridge and a short walk to San Marco making the location so convenient. The area was quiet and peaceful, never interrupting our sleep. The staff at the desk was extremely helpful and friendly, even giving us some of the great history of the hotel. The room was modern, spacious, stylish, had the biggest shower of our trip in Europe and the air-conditioning worked well. The entire experience was fantastic and at such a low rate, we've already recommended it. Thanks!

The room was amazing, lots of updates. it feels like a five star hotel when you are inside, but the outside needs work. it is hard to find, but so is everything in venice. There is just a little plaque on the side of the door. it is very hard to find and scary neighborhood at night.

We were extremely pleased with this hotel, but we had a tough time finding it. We arrived to Venice just before dark, and the hotel is located off the main street in a somewhat desserted area, and it was very hard for us to find. So, if you do visit the city and plan on getting there late, then be mindful of this. I would definitely recommend this hotel 100% though. It was a wonderful place to stay.

We were completely happy with the accomodations which are not typically European because of recent renovations. Room was large with a sitting area, bathroom was very large. Located on a quiet piazza very close to everything. Breakfast isn't worth doing for 7.5 Euros per person. Go out instead to a bakery and have better stuff for less than half the cost. Also, bring your own soap. They give you miniscule bars of soap. Other than that, it's a great place to stay.

this hotel is hard to find. not for any other reason than venice is a hard city to navigate if you have never been there before. the hotel itself is identified simply by a name plate on the wall of a building... down an alley. so it's pretty tough to locate. i'd call in advance and ask for walking directions if you can. the room was nice, clean and very acceptable for the money. the bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly and spoke very good english (everyone in italy speaks pretty good english). the location was nice, close to both the realto bridge and saint mark's square. i think it is reasonably priced and would recommend this to other travelers.

We booked this hotel based purely on other reviews we'd read, and we weren't disappointed - they were spot on. Yes, it's a bit difficult to find, but no more so than anything else in Venice. It's well located, about 5 mins walk from the Rialto bridge and 10 mins from San Marco, the staff were friendly and helpful and it was excellent value for where it was. We also got upgraded to a suite at no extra charge, which was a lovely gesture.

On this first visit to Venice, you sometimes feel like you are a rat running in a maze as the streets are narrow with many twists and turns and little bridges. But this hotel was worth the time it took to find. A hint: take the #1 water taxi/bus to the Rialto bridge and you will be fairly close and get a google or mapquest map to the address from there. Vvvery comfortable and clean.

Next trip, I would pay extra for the suites that overlook the plaza. There is no identifying sign on this cozy inn, but that is part of it's charm. Transportation to and from is problematic if you have large luggage. In that case you must take a water taxi to the hotel. It cost us over 100 euros for that mode of transport to the airport as we were coming from a cruise and had large luggage.

Very recently refurbished, with extremely helpful and friendly staff. As others have already mentioned, a little difficult to find but if you can get an email address for them they will send you a map. Otherwise try this: vaporetto to Rialto and then walk back towards the bridge and follow the road round into Calle Fontego dei Tedeschi. Take the first left turn into a street that ends in a small bridge with a COIN department store on the other side. Follow this road until you reach a small church and turn right here into Calle del Milion. You will see a low passageway headed Sottoportego del Milion which takes you into Corte del Milion and on to another bridge. This bridge leads into Calle Scaleta and just before you reach the archway at the far end, you will find a brass plaque on the left with the name of the hotel. Press the buzzer and reception will open the door for you.

Great little hotel just a 10 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge in a nice little square. Set ABOVE a furniture shop, and the entrance tucked down the alley by the side of the shop it's not that obvious where it is, but once you buzz in and get upstairs the rooms are classically appointed with nice bathrooms. We have two balconies overlooking the square. The staff are really friendly. Grab breakfast at the small pastry shop opposite the hotel for some fantastic early morning treats and the cheapest coffee in Venice if you stand at the counter. Right now this hotel is a bargain, how long it will be one who knows!?

The hotel was a bit difficult to get to with luggage and it was tough to find with the 3" X 4" brass placard next to the entrance on what could only be described as a plain brick faced ally. To be fair a lot of small hotels in Venice could be described the same way. Once inside, the dingy plain brick ally gave way to nicely appointed hallways, office and room. The place appeared to be newly renovated with quality materials and the room was very good size by European standards. The shower in the private bath was the largest of our trip across Italy. The staff was pleasant, spoke good english and the room was clean. Overall good value for the money. Dislikes: Having to pay 6 or 7 euros extra for continental Breakfast, basically a roll and coffee. A much better breakfast was available for free at all our other stays. We also disliked having to pay 10 euros for 24hrs of internet use. Charging for internet is common in Italy though.

Less then 300 feet from the main shopping street and tourist attractions. Hard to find though but all hotels in Venice are. Ask for Santa Marina area and then theres a furniture store it is right above there. The cross street is something like Skeletor or close to it. Cant recommend it enough for the rate and location!

We arrived late at night so finding the hotel in Venice in the dark was quite difficult especially since this hotel is hidden in a little dark alley and was pretty much impossible to find without the help of fellow guests we bumped into in the street! However, when you do find it you will be very happy! We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing, it looked like it had just been renovated as the room was beautiful, very clean and not a scratch to be found. Service was excellent as well, the staff were always happy to help and went out of their way to do exra things for us. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had been warned by the previous reviews that the hotel is hard to find - and Venice streets are difficult anyway but the cloak-and-dagger approach of going to another doorway, climbing their stairs with no one around and just a phone ringing to tell us to pick up map to find the hotel around a few corners was surreal - and the front of the hotel is unprepossessing and the entry buzzer lets you into an empty hall with the reception upstairs. Unusual! But we had been warned and didn't mind this. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom small but perfect and we had a lovely patio outside our french windows - which seemed just for us. The location is good, quiet but near enough to both San Marco and Rialto to easily see the city. Good little patisserie shops nearby for breakfast. We would come again!

This hotel was charming, very clean, and overall a lovely way to spend your time in Venice. Close to everything, worth taking the time to find (yes, it IS hard to locate, but so is everything else in Venice--it was never meant as a driving town, so street names, addresses, etc. are pretty irrelevant. Once you find it, you will be able to find your way back without any problems). Loved the view, very helpful desk staff, and really enjoyed being in the heart of everything.

The hotel is located in a quiet location close to famous tourist attractions like the Rialto Bridge from which run frequent water buses. I tried two rooms during my stay, including 1 with 2 balconies. Both rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious with high ceilings. They offered a safe and a mini bar with prices cheaper than those at stands by the Grand Canal. Breakfast was not available at the hotel but there are numerous cafes at your doorstep. I would highly recommend this hotel as in my opinion, it offers a more than many hotels with a higher star rating and by Venice standards, prices were on the low side too. As the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, checking-in took place in the Tourist House, about a minute’s walk from the hotel itself. Here is how to get to it: If arriving by water bus, get off at Rialto Bridge (not Rialto Mercato). You will be on the right side of the Grand Canal. The bridge is made of three alleys. Turn right in the central alley to get to the square. Turn left and keep look for the green neon sign labelled as “Rosticceria”. This should be on your right hand side. Go under the archway and continue straight on. Cross the bridge with the bathroom store in the corner. The Tourist House is located on the right-hand side of the alley and there is a bronze plaque on the green wooden door. From there, you will be escorted to the hotel. If you reach the pharmacy at the corner of the square, turn around as you have missed the Tourist House.

Rest of the hotel was being renovated when we stayed in Sept 2008, so reception was off-site. The staff were very helpful in getting us to the room with minimal fuss. For what we paid we obviously didn't expect a 5-star chain but we were pleasantly surprised at any case. Our main complaint was with finding it: nobody in the neighborhood seemed to know where it was and the sign on the door was very small...it is, after all, a B&B (no breakfast included though). Also, the interior is still under construction but soon they should have a downstairs reception desk. But all the problems were outweighed by the fact that the manager couldn't have been more accommodating and nice. He carried the luggage up and down for us and arranged for a water-taxi to the airport for the morning of our departure and also made sure that our luggage was delivered from the port (we were just off a cruise and had arranged for this hotel by ourselves). The room was large and clean and the shower terrific, particularly for a European facility (think British showers with their half-doors that make the water splatter all over the floor!). So if you want to avoid paying outrageous prices for just a night or two, we certainly recommend this place. Just remember you're in Venice and not in the U.S.

Do not book this hotel if you are planning on a problem free vacation. Problem 1: Their checkin is not located at the hotel but at a guest house 2 mnitues away. Even the locals won't be able to help you find the Palazzo. I have found one webiste aftr the fact on where the checkin is located, but not on this website. Also, the checkin is not always staffed. Problem 2: this is actually the bigger problem. We got there with a confirmed reservation assuming checkin wouldn't be a problem. Turns out that the hotel hadn't even opened yet (their website claims the reopened in April after renovations and we had booked in the beginning of May). The front desk told us that the city hadn't turned the gas on to the building and they couldn't house any guests there. He offered alternative accomodation in a guest house also owned by the same company. We had booked a suite with balcony and the offered rooms were not remotely satisfactory. One had no view and was very cramped. The other one had windows in the street but was rather cramped as well. The hotel clerk made two attempts to call alternative hotels for rooms (needless to say everything was booked since it was a holiday weekend). It also seemd more as a gesture to appease us than really trying to find something since he also mentioned he had called earlier and nothing was avaialble. They already had a printed letter for us saying it is the city's fault, written by the hotel not the city. They offered a $60 dollar discount, some useless coupons you could probably pick up at the tourist information and a free night at a future vacation at the currently still closed hotel good for three years. Big chance I will ever stay there in the future. The hotel had the time to prepare all of this before we got there but not once did they call or email us before our arrival to notify us of the problem. Our cell phones were enabled in Europe as well as email access. Ambushing customer like this is something I consider disrespectful an
