We loved the Dana hotel! It was close to Michigan Ave. There were great local restaurants within a block or two of the hotel. The Hotel/Spa staff catered to our every need. The price was excellent! We are definitly going back to this hotel!!

I was somewhat disappointed by the hotel and spa service. We were given the wrong room when we arrived (a much smaller room without a big enough window to see the great view). When we complained, we were told that nothing else was available. However, when we called back to report the mix up in rooms, we were moved to our correct room. Upon reading a review prior to our stay, I had requested not to be on the floor directly below the nightclub because of the noise. Needless to say, our room was still on the highest floor. Our spa appointments were mixed up but they did credit us a complimentary service for the mix up. The woman who did my facial kept me waiting and did not seem very knowledgeable or capable of answering questions about skincare. The final mix up was being charged double for valet service one night. It was corrected but it seemed like there were far too many mix ups and mistakes for a "4-star" hotel.

One of the reasons I booked this hotel over another was my previous experience with their exceptional, complimentary buffet breakfast. Upon check-in we learned they discontinued it & replaced it with a traditional breakfast in their dining room (for which they gave us a partial credit). The set up for breakfast was beyond disorganized and the staff was incredibly rude. The service was so bad that at one point while asking our server for something, she turned around and began walking away while I was still speaking (to her back). The hotel is beginning to decline and is in need of a refresh. If you're not alone in the room, there is NO sound privacy between the bathroom and the bedroom - our bathroom door did not even close completely. Location is great. The Dana has hopped on the trendy hotel bandwagon but haven't executed it with much quality.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. It has been totally renovated with a european luxury style - full wi-fi, flatscreen TV, ipod stereo and open bath. Location was great though alot of road noise on the weekend. Breakfasts were scrumptous though service was slow so be ready to just relax and take your time. We went with a group and everyone was very happy. I would definitely stay there again.

I loved this hotel. It is in a great location. You are in walking distance of almost everything you want to do. The hotel itself is beautiful. The shower in the room was the best! Hotel staff were all really great. They upgraded us to a corner king room and the room had a magnificent view of the city. The only down fall was the fact that as a hotel guest you don't have direct access to the lounge on the top floor. We would have gone to it more often had we had direct access. I think they need to change that. All in all though a great hotel and great staff. I would definately stay here again on our next trip to Chicago!

This is the best and most hip place to stay in Chi town. Me and my girlfriend went Friday-Monday and this place exceeded our expectations. The price was very reasonable compared to the other hotels downtown and the prices for in room wine/champagne were good. The breakfast coupons were outstanding, I recommend the fruit smothie every morning. The location was great and was within walking distance to the "L", mag mile, restaurants, and bars. We purchased a 3-day CTA pass for $14 a piece, which was the best decision of the whole trip because we rode in 4 short trips in cabs and it doubled what we paid to ride in the trains and busses all weekend. The staff was friendly and the hotel was very clean, although do not rely on the information from the staff because they steered us wrong to a few places and couldn't recommend many good things to do/see. Get your own travel guide and do your own research. Also, this hotel is perfect for us because we are 25 years old and like to have a good time so if you do not like noise or techno music or strangely dressed young people then this is probably not your place. The room we got was a cozy king with a balcony. There are only a few rooms with a balcony and I would def recommend this because we had an awesome view of the downtown skyscape looking down on State Street. The showers are awesome, the TV and IPOD doc were incredible, the bed was comfy, it had a mini fridge for our left over deep dish, and the closet took a few minutes to figure out but was all good. If you have kids this prob is not the best place with the see through shower and all. It was a great time and an awesome hotel, I will def be going back....in the summer time.

The shower was as wonderful as all past reviews had mentioned. THe Dana is very well situated close to everything on the Mag Mile and we will definately return.

We went to visit Chicago for our 5th Wedding Anniversary and stayed at The Dana Hotel and Spa. We got a really good rate through Hotels.com with free breakfast coupons which was totally worth it because the breakfast was great at Dana! The hotel staff were super nice and even upgraded us to a corner suite when we arrived (just ask when you check-in). The shower was a plus too. I know if we ever go back to Chicago, we will only stay at The Dana Hotel and Spa!

This place is great for adult travelers. Not having children this hotel is that much more attractive. The rooms are a little on the small side, but perfect for a couple. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the shower was great as well. The area is perfect for tourist or business travelers. It is 2 blocks from the mag. mile. A couple blocks from the "L" red line and within walking distance of dozens of restaurants. The roof top bar is also really nice. The breakfast vouchers that come with the room are an excellent value, but if you are counting on eating breakfast there you should make sure you are there an hour before breakfast ends to assure you get a table.

I stayed here over the past weekend and would like to make note of a few items. -Check-in is a mess. There are 2 people available to check you in and the line is long. -Room service menu is terrible. I understand the healthy aspect of this hotel but late night food is supposed to well late night food (think pizza, sandwiches, etc) . I dont think salted edamame is a great option or salads. -The front desk service is rude rude rude. They sound annoyed that you would even pick up the phone and call them for anything.

The room was nice and it had a very comfortable bed. After we checked in we went up stairs and our room was still dirty. So we told the front desk, they said it would be cleaned immediately. They held our bags and we went out to lunch. We came back an hour and a half later and our room was still not clean. They gave us a $25 gift card for the Aja steak house in the hotel. We tried to use the certificate twice and were given excuses for why we couldn't use them at that particular time. Totally ridiculous! So we ended up never using the gift certificate. I would not stay here again.

from the eclectic furnishings & decor to the shy lounge with it's tattoo theme, this hotel is definitely geared towards a younger trendier set, and does it rather well. we did have problem with realllly slow breakfast service one morning but the hotel responded with $50 in dana gift cards to be used at the restaurant or bar, which was more than adequate to make up for it. overall, we loved our stay here. a very unique and fun hotel - we will be back!

As a business management consultant, I believe in taking note of lessons learned or constructive criticism to make improvements. As well, I have traveled all over the world and stayed in some of the very best and very worst accomodations. In which case, I fancy myself as someone who knows what she's talking about from both a business and a traveler's standpoint. As you read this review, please note that my fiance and I made the following points to one of the Dana Hotel's seasoned managers who AGREED with each and every point we made. 1. We arrived at the hotel at 9:00 PM and the music in the lobby was blaring loud. We found ourselves shouting with the desk clerk during our check-in procecss. Since there is a bar just below the lobby/registration area I understand the importance of loud music to create a certain atmosphere. However, in this day and age when volume of music can be controlled from room to room, we saw no need for such loud music in the lobby. The music was uncomfortably loud each night of our stay when we would return from our evening out with friends. Therefore, our suggestion is to keep the music "exciting" in the bar, but quieter by the lobby and the elevators so guests feel more relaxed. 2. There is a Vegas-styled rooftop bar at the Dana Hotel that caters to a very trendy group of people. However, this meant that very drunk people were entering and exiting the hotel all night long. As well, these individuals were using the same elevators as the guests. In which case, we found ourselves surrounded by foolish, drunk, snobby people, making fun of us or other hotel guests as we would go to and from our room. Here we were paying hundreds of dollars to stay at the hotel, made to feel uncomfortable by people who weren't even paying a cover charge for the bar. Moreover, late at night/very early morning, as the elevator would stop at various floors, some of these "trendy" people would yell outside of the elevator, slam doors, or make a ruckus in general.

We had a good time in this hotel. First day was very trendy and seemed snobby. Last day was more cool people, normal people. The room was nice, odd things though like bathroom and the closet share a door, the shower has a drape to cover it, stuff like that. BUT THE WORST WAS THE RESTAURANT... Don't go. Breakfast service was awful. My wife's meal came like 20 minutes before mine, 3 people left b/c of service, the servers were rude. The busboy was the only one who seemed to care. The issues they had in the restaurant they kept making worse by talking to each other on the floor about all the problems. It was painful to watch. We did see Dwayne Wade though. He came in the hotel.

A very trendy hotel in a great location. Had to wait for a while since there was only one person working at the check-in desk, but not a big deal. I stayed at the Dana from Thursday to Tuesday. My room was on the 24th floor. The hotel is very clean and still feels new. The room was very comfortable and had a great modern look. The only negative was the noise. On Thursday night I didn't get to sleep until nearly 4:00 a.m. due to the noise from the Vertigo lounge (two floors above me), the noise from nearby rooms, and the noise from the street. The noise was especially bad Thursday-Saturday. If you plan to party late into the night, the noise on the weekends won't be an issue, but if you need to get to bed early, you might want to consider another hotel.

If you're into hip, seen and be seen hotels with great bars and nightlife and beautiful people, this is the place to be. The bar attracts a 30+, somewhat flashy crowd at night. Rooms were modern and lovely, with hardwood floors, beautiful mosaic tile showers and great city views. However, the hotel staff, especially at the check-in desk were a little mechanical and forced friendliness and smiles in the name of professionalism. I also didn't like the key-card access to the elevators at all times of the day/night.

My wife and I went on a long-weekend vacation to Chicago. Our purpose was to shop at Michigan Avenue and visit famous landmarks. This hotel is conveniently located within walking distances from the Magnificent Mile. It's also close to the Chicago station on the Red Line. So the location was ideal. We got a 25th floor room, which is their highest and right below the 26th-floor night club. So at night we can slightly hear the music from the bar. I could go into sleep although my wife was bothered a bit. The hotel cleaning was good except that one day they left some extra pillow cases on the floor. Other than those nuances, I couldn't find any big problem. Love their shower head - it was awesome.

Great rooms with partial wood floors, the best ipod player I have ever used, balcony, outstanding bedding, and just great finishings throughout the whole room. One thing to note, it is pretty hip so be prepared for a little loud music in the lobby and a crowd of club goers at the Vertigo bar.

Spent a Saturday night as a weekend in Chicago with my boyfriend. We loved this hotel! The service really sets it apart from other boutique hotels in Chicago. Everyone is happy...not grumpy to be working....and very helpful. The rooftop bar is really neat with the outdoor and indoor area. Before dinner drink was not crowded and a mix of 20 somethings, couples, international visitors and ladies on a girls weekend. Our return after dinner...very young fun dancing crowd...crowded but fun! We were spur of the moment, so we couldn't get into the spa, but the people doing reservations were very nice, saying they'd look out for cancellations. Brunch at the hotel restaurant was over the top. Lovely outside seating.

I really liked the Dana Hotel. It wasn't flawless but it was very, very nice. We upgraded to a larger room because the corner king was just too tight. The next size room was very roomy and comfortable. The rooftop lounge is cool but kind of a hassle to get to since you can't take the elevator up directly from your room. The doorman, DJ was very nice and knowledgeable but the valet system is quite inefficient. Takes a long time to get your car and there is alot of confusion about it. Still need to work out a few kinks in the valet department. But i would stay here again . . . definately.

Both the city of Chicago and our stay at the Dana Hotel and Spa exceeded our expections. The staff was friendly and we couldn't have asked for more than what our room offered. One minor exception was the air conditioning in our room. It didn't seem to hold a constant temperature so we found ourselves frequently adjusting the thermostat. It could very well have been isolated to our room. Overall, I would definitely recommend this establishment.
