Hotel Ganivet - Madrid

The room and bathroom were clean and pretty spacious. The location was SO great. A block from metro Puerta de Toledo in one direction and an adorable delicious bakery in the other. Also very close to the shopping at Puerta del Sol. I didn't eat the breakfast offered by the hotel, because other reviews said it was over priced. There was one concierge who was rude to me. A tall white haired man who worked at night. Other than that, the staff was very nice.

This was great location for Madrid. Parking was in the hotel. The Hotel was within a couple of minutes walk from all of the main attractions including the mayors plaza, Royal Palace, Cathedrals , Museums and city centre.

clean rooms but no fridges in room. our room had nothing spectacular to see form the window. room a/c was not that effective. Very close to the underground therefore reasonable to use for sightseeing in Madrid. Reception was reasonable with their english.

Great hotel in good location for metro or walking. Quiet air-conditioned room. Fridge/tea-making facilities would improve, but overall clean and comfortable. Modern style.

We stayed in the Hotel Gavinet for the first time. This is our second time to Madrid. We generally like to stay close to the plaza, but for our last couple of nights, tried this one. It was a bit of a walk to the Plaza, but a nice walk and a nice neighborhood with plenty of small cafe's and bakeries. The hotel was was very well maintained, double pained windows helps with the street noise and the street quiets down at night. We thought it was a great value.

We stayed at Hotel Ganivet for one week. We were very happy with the cleanliness, the service, and the overall comfort of this hotel. We felt safe, and were pleasantly surprised at how quiet our room was. The room that we received was on the 4th floor, but when we opened our windows the traffic noise was rather loud. However, the windows were so thick and well insulated that when we closed the windows you heard nothing more than a soft hum from the street below. We slept very well. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. By the way, the safe in the room was large enough to accomodate a laptop and it was free! Overall we were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Ganivet!

Booked room for 3 people. Room was quite nice & quite large. Breakfast not included in our stay was a bit pricey but very good. Would definatly stay her again.

Not much to say about this hotel - and I mean that in a good way. Our room was very clean and spacious. Great bathroom with bidet. Nice flat screen TV. Free safe that fit our camera and 14" laptop easily. Friendly and helpful staff. Very close to the Puerta de Toledo metro station. If I had to nitpick: the "queen" bed was really two double beds pushed together. And there was an extra double bed stored in our room, but we piled all of our luggage on it and used it as a dresser.

Hotel Ganivet was your average, run of the mill European hotel. Nothing fancy, but clean and reasonable. Situated near two metro stops and a walkable distance from all of the action (Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol). The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Ganivet Hotel was quite pleasant. The staff was always more than helpful. The location was fantastic, right next to center city Madrid. And it was only about a 5 minute taxi ride to the local train station. Overall it was very inexpensive and in great location. If i am ever back in Madrid i would choose to stay here again as my first option.

This is a quality, solid 3 star hotel. Don't expect 4 or 5 star qualities and you will be satisfied. It is within walking distance to the Plaza Mayor, yet it is not in a loud part of the city. I heard very little street noise from my room.

Had a good five night stay in the hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and modern for the price I paid. The restaurant had some good selections and was well priced. My room was on the second floor and could not hear any street noise which was a big plus. The metro(subway) was only 2 blocks away and was a walkable distance to all attractions. The only negative thing was that my room was right next to the elevator, so certain nights I was awakened by the elevator going up and down. Some tourists were loud coming back from bars and clubs late at night and could be heard right thru the door, but that usually happens almost everywhere so it was expected. Most hotels I stay at will exchange dollar currency for you, this hotel did not. So make sure to get enough money exchanged at the airport before you make your way into the city.

Nice and clean, but no hot water for showering.

The hotel was a most pleasant experience. Everything met or exceeded expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

This was a very good stay for the cost. It is a small hotel with no frills. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The Metro was very close to the hotel.

We have stayed at some luxurious hotels in the past (over £400 ($800) per night places) and we've always been put off by the stiffness of the places and the staff. Here, you have everything you need. It's a very clean, nice and modern hotel situated a 7 minute walk to the beautiful Plaza Mayor (central square). It's no fuss here. You want a nice central hotel but you don't want the price tag. The rooms are modern and clean with a flat screen TV attached to the wall and a nice bathroom. I was searching the net for hours and this was by far the best deal for all our needs. Great price too. I would highly recommend this hotel. One thing that you will find in Madrid is that barely anyone speaks English!! The reception staff got by and could help us but they couldn't speak perfect English by far (but I can't speak Spanish so I forgive them). The only other (minor) problem is that the TV has a million channels and none of them are in English. Highly recommended. Re Madrid generally, watch the taxi drivers. They have a meter but they add a few euros which they aren't entitled to. Our guy going there had the meter at 25 euros. I told him to take 30 and gave him a 50. He gave me 10 back and whizzed off before I knew what a 20 euro looked like.

Hotel Ganivet is ideally situated, it is on the main road to the Plaza Mayor, a must for any visitor to Madrid, the tourist bus stops just round the corner to take you to any part of the city you want to see, the staff are friendly and helpful, it is extremely clean and the food is excellent. If I go back to Madrid I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again

Good location just a short walk from Plaza Major and the Metro. Very efficient check in and out and they were happy to let us leave our luggage for the remainder of the day. Double room was reasonably spacious and clean. We ate out so cannot comment on the food. The only downside was that as we had a room facing the street there was some traffic and people noise in the early morning as the bars and clubs emptied out.

Gerenoveerd hotel met goede kamers. Draadloos Internet gratis (2 PC's in lobby en WiFI voor je laptop). Goed hotel als je de stad wilt bezoeken en een uitvalsbasis nodig hebt. Geen voorzieningen als fitness, zwembad, kinderspeelhoek, e.d. Ontbijt voor EUR 9,50 pp geeft een vrij compleet buffet. Aan vrij drukke straat waar je geen last van hebt vanwege uitstekende isolatie. Heel dicht bij Metro en Rastro. Veel winkeltjes, bars en restaurantjes in de buurt. Makkelijk te lopen naar Plaza Mayor.

Een goed en schoon hotel.Jammer dat er alleen spaanse zenders op de tv te zien waren.

Weinig aan te merken op het hotel. Geen gebruik van het ontbijt, dus daar geen mening over. Onze kamer was wel redelijk gehorig en er hing een droge lucht. De hotelbar was erg ongezellig, maar centrum is dichtbij (loopafstand of via metro vanaf Puerta de Toledo)

Une bonne adresse pour dormir à Madrid, calme, propre, et tout sous la main.

L'albergo è confortevole, pulito e molto ben organizzato; è situato molto vicino al centro x cui ci si può muovere bene a qualsiasi ora; ottima la colazione e molto disponibili gli addetti x qualsiasi rihiesta; sicuramente quando tornerò a Madrid proverò a prenotare nuovamente in questo albergo.

Prenotando su Internet c'è sempre qualche dubbio, invece tutte le aspettative sono state confermate. Eccellente il servizio di pulizia. Stanza e bagno molto confortevoli. Silenzioso, nonostante l'affaccio sulla strada.
