You know how when a new movie comes out and everyone's talking about how great it is and how you just have to see it? Then you finally sit down and it's... good. Not bad. Not even ok. But good. That's what staying at the new Fairmont Battery Wharf felt like. There wasn't anything wrong per se, but there was definitely something missing that I would expect from a) Fairmont and b) any 4-star hotel on the Boston waterfront. The modern aesthetic was nice, but execution left just a little something to be desired.

The hotel is relatively new and awesome. We took the water taxi from Logan Airport which was such a great start to our vacation. The hotel is top notch, and we were even given a tour of the room amenities (that says it all!). Location is great and has a beautiful landscaped area where you can relax and look out over the water. Lovely. North end location is key, too. Kids loved the big flat screen tv and we even paid for a movie(which we never do) since room was so nice and relaxing. Would absolutely stay again.

Lovely new hotel on the wharf in Boston's North end. Very conveniently located close to historical locations and restaurants. Rooms are all modern and bed was extremely comfortable. Our only complaint was that the walls were a little thin. We were placed in a room above the entrance to the hotel and could hear the conversations between the bell hops and arriving guests. One quick phone call to the front desk and we were moved to a much quieter room. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel!

We loved this hotel! We were upgraded to a 'gold' suite, which was amazing! The room was immaculate, the amenities were great, the staff was extremely helpful. The location was fantastic for eating in the North End. We also enjoyed brunch at the hotel itself. The one problem we had was actually finding the hotel using our GPS. I would recommend that Hotels.com give the address, but also put in the listing the intersection where the hotel is located.

The Fairmont Battery Wharf was amazing! Who would expect such a superb retreat in the middle of a bustling city? The property is located right on the harbor at the end of Hanover Street in the North End. It has its own private driveway off Atlantic Ave...it's like entering a mini, secluded resort, and yet, you're still in Boston - one of the most densely populated cities in America. The Fairmont opened in 2009, and the rooms were equipped with all the modern amenities. We stayed in a standard room - pretty decent size with a spacious bathroom. The public spaces were well appointed, and the staff could not have been any nicer. The on-site restaurant was very good. After dinner, our family shared drinks and dessert on the harbor-walk, right outside the hotel. It was so quiet, all you could hear were the waves from the ocean lapping up against the pier. The only complaint is that it is a bit of a walk to the nearest T (subway) station. That said, it is easily one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had!

Our room was nicely appointed and had the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in (including our own). The staff was attentive, friendly, and quite knowledgeable about the neighborhood and the events happening in Boston at the time. The location on the harbor together with the pleasant outdoor spaces for relaxing by the water provided a welcome respite after a busy day. Most of the Freedom Trail sites are within walking distance, and there's a trolley stop only a couple of blocks away. The North End neighborhood is rife with excellent Italian food as well as the famous Mike's Pastry shop. The only minor disappointments were the $42 fee per night for parking (a bit steep, in our opinion) and the fact that the hotel charges for in-room internet service. We dealt with those things by returning the car after the first night and using the free wireless service in the lobby. We ended every day with drinks outside by the water (very talented bartenders here) and sighs of contentment.

We were very impressed with this very nice hotel. The rooms are beautiful, with great attention to detail and design. Our only concern was that there was too much attention paid to us. People came into the room to explain everything. The next morning at breakfast, which was exquisite and delicious, one person was helping us with everything. Actually, we would rather someone be available to help if we have a question, rather than hovering over us. This issue may seem unimportant to some, but, while I would recommend this hotel, I would let anyone know about the attention that they might receive so they could make an informed choice. We got our tickets online at a reduced rate, so we felt we got a good deal.

On our third visit it started to seem like they're letting the hotel go-room was not cleaned properly...a blanket at the footboard had a hard crusty stain on it, the pillows smelled, the mattress had a huge indent where I slept and the sheets had some type of dark stain...only can hope they were washed before our arrival....on our second night the maid didn't re-supply the coffe, there were no wash cloths replaced and the TV speaker kept making a loud static noise all through the night after we went to bed...I thought the alarm was set to an untuned channel...finally I realized it was the external speaker and unpluigged it from the wall at 0430-this was after maintenance came up to fix the sound on it-someone else also had unplugged it for the same reason...it's an ok hotel but I probably won't be back anymore-

When we arrived at check-in we were told we had been upgraded to the Fairmont Grand. Our room overlooked the Harbor. Complimentary breakfast, soda, coffee and best of all around 9:00 PM the Chef would bring complimentary desert that he made fresh that day. The staff made you feel so special. The hotel is beautiful. I would recommend highly. It is a very short walk to the famous North End.

The hotel is in a great location in the North End. The room was beautiful and modern, with a view of the water. The bell-hop was fantastic - incredibly friendly and helpful. He recommended an off the beaten path Italian restaurant and took care of our last-minute Friday night dinner reservations. Dinner was great! The hotel also took care of our rental car. They contacted the rental agency and had them come pick up the car so we didn't have to return it (BTW it's much cheaper to get cars in Boston than at Logan), and I overheard the front desk arranging to have a car dropped off the next morning for one of the other guests. I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel was beautiful. Brand new complex. Checking in was a pain, though. I made reservations at 5 Battery Wharf but when we got there, the doors were locked and we were told to check in at building 3. When we got there, the room was different than we booked online. We paid for a bathtub and did not get one. Shower was beautiful though. Pros: Nice quiet location while only being a few blocks away from the North End. Cons: valet parking is $42 per night, which is rather expensive. Not all that close to a subway station - it's about a 7 minute walk to the closest one. I stayed here for a weekend and was very pleased with the service. The staff were very helpful and friendly. When a guest checked in, they would have someone escort the guest to their room to make sure that they knew where everything was in the room, how to work the Senseo coffee maker, etc. Nice 42" HD LCD tv in the room with I think 95 channels. The room was very clean. I thought the walls were a little thin though...I could clearly hear people talking in the halls and the guest next door - who were partying in their room until 2 am... Overall a good hotel and I would stay here again.

Boston is an expensive city so the Fairmont is priced with the normal high rate expectation. $42 for parking was a little ridiculous so beware of that! This hotel is by far the most outstanding hotel I have stayed at in the last year or more. The property is new and well maintained. The room was extremely clean and well appointed. The bed and other furnishings were obviously of very good quality, as were the incidentals (towels, shampoo, etc.). The location was excellent - right on the water, and close to the airport as well as more touristy areas (Quincy Market). The service at the concierge desk, restaurant and door were all uniformly excellent. I would happily stay at this hotel again the next time I am in Boston - I just hope that it doesn't get too popular in the meantime!

Great Room but horrible view. I was expecting typical Fairmont but the place just looks like another apartment building in the area. Paid to get an upgrade to a Junior Suite thinking I would get one of the nicer rooms with a view of the downtown lit up a night ... was suprised when they led me down what seemed like a back hallway to a room that had a breathtaking view of a .... parking lot and some guy doing remodelling of his apartment across from my window!!! The room was spectacular but what's up here. The layout was off too ... yes it has a 42" lcd HD tv but because of the distribution in the room it was about 40 feet from the bed. Pretty far if you wanted to watch TV in bed. Other than that though pretty spectacular. Loved the espresso machine ... I think I had about 8 cups in one night!!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights over the Memorial Day weekend holiday. We received a fantastic rate through hotels.com because this hotel is new. Staff was helpful and polite -- couldn't do enough for you. The room was beautiful, very modern. The bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was huge, although there is only a large shower stall, no bathtub (if that is important to you). Great lighted makeup mirror in the bathroom, too. Nice toiletries. Large HD TV with many channels. Mini bar was well stocked, but very expensive -- we brought our own snacks and drinks and kept them in a cooler. You have to call room service for ice, as there is no ice machine accessible (this was a but of an inconvenience, although it was delivered quickly). Only (very small) drawback is the northern location -- pretty far from the Back Bay area and no nearby T station. Parking is $42.00 per night with in/out privileges -- there might be cheaper options, but we opted for the convenience of having the car nearby. All in all, the hotel is great and would stay there again if we got another fantastic rate.

Excellent hotel. Great location. Service was second to none the moment we pulled up to the front door. With in walking distance (5 or so blocks) to Quincy Market. My only complaint is that they do everything for you so expect to tip a lot. We wanted ice but you need to call the front desk for them to deliver it. It was delivered right away but just one more person you should tip. Parking was $42 for the night so I suggest you pay the $20 for 24 hour parking that is two blocks away. The bathroom was very nice and had speakers built into the ceiling so you could listen to the tv while taking a shower (I'm easily amused). The tv was a 42 inch LCD which is better than any hotel I've ever stayed at. Over all a great hotel with a great location but......plan on spending a little extra on tips.

The Fairmont Battery Warf in Boston is an ultra modern hotel that was decorated in excellant taste. The room was very spacious with an excellant view of the harbor and only cost a few dollars more than a room without a view. The staff was very friendly and helpful and warm and sincere rather than the scripted politness that you may experience at a Ritz. As the hotel has only been open for 5 months everything is in excellant condition and exceptionally clean. Only had breakfast in the dinning area but the meal was excellant as well. They prepared a "typical" american breakfast in a more healthy style by limiting the amound of potatoes they put on the plate and included some vegetables. Dishes were unique and fit the atmosphere.

We absolutely loved our stay here. We had a room facing the Harbor and it meant that we could sleep with our windows open and hear the water outside of our room and sleep so peacefully. And yet when we stepped out in the mornings, we were steps away from everything we would need in the city. We walked everywhere - to the North End and Beacon Hill and never used our car once. The hotel itself is beautiful and the room was perfect. I can't think of anything I would have wanted to improve on. The highlight of our stay was actually dealing with Laurie at the front desk. She was the first person we met at the hotel and she showed us to our room. Although we were tired, her enthusiasm was so contagious that we immediately started smiling as soon as she left. And every time she saw us for the rest of our stay, she would seek us out and ask how everything was, give us recommendations for dinners or things to do. She is undoubtedly the one person I will never forget about our stay there. I hope she's there when we return again - she was wonderful.

Best hotel experience I have had in a long time. I cannot say enought about the staff and the room at the Fairmont. We arrived via water taxi from Logan(water taxi was great). The service started as the bellman was waiting for us at the dock and did not disappoint the entire stay. When we returned in the evening, our beds were turned down with slippers by each side of the bed and a bottled water on each night stand. The room was decorated in a very dignified contemporary style. No expense was spared from the 42" HD plasma and high tech voip phone to the outstanding bathroom. The location was a little out of the way being about a half mile from the nearest T. But the stroll back from the T takes you down Hanover which is the heart of the North End restaurant district. Numerous cafe's to stop and have a night cap or coffe and gelati. That and being in a very quiet area more than makes up for the walk. Would definately stay again.
